Oh, how Alexei hated it when he got sick![break][break]

It reminded him of how pathetic he was whenever he had to be forced to get some bed rest. It was… insanity, to be honest.[break][break]

Sighing, he reached for his phone, light setting turned down to the dimmest number before punching in a number and sending a message for help. Most of his staff he had instructed to continue working as usual today and not to mind him—he reassured them that all he needed was rest.[break][break]

But it wasn’t the case, actually.[break][break]

He had gotten into some trouble while out in the forested area beyond the Fortree boundaries, and had walked right into something that had caught him off-guard. While he didn’t mind the strange, curious fog that he’d inhaled at first, by the time he returned to the city proper he felt feverish. When he had arrived at the Sanctuary proper he looked much paler than he normally did.[break][break]

He didn’t tell anyone that he had thrown up in the bathroom before he had somehow managed to drag his ass into bed and curl up with the blackout curtains pulled down around the windows of his room.[break][break]

Oh, his head felt like it was going to explode and his body felt like utter hell.[break][break]

It really hurt to even so much as move once he had lied down—he’d already risked reaching for his phone and sending the message to the one person he knew who could help him out of his.

Florian's anxiety spikes upon receiving the text.[break][break]

People got sick all the time, but that didn't stop his thoughts from racing a million miles a minute. He couldn't help but to worry about every little thing. Were they drinking enough water? Were they getting enough rest? Were they pushing themselves too hard?[break][break]

He responds immediately:[break]

He arrives with a care-package in tow. It's full of tissues, pain-relievers, honey-and-lemon teas, and Florian's secret weapon: a homemade soup that Jonquille had assisted him with, her aromatic petals providing the main ingredient. He'd steeped the thermos of tea with Budew leaves and some of Abeille's pollen puffs, as well. Perhaps the rumours were an old wives tale, but Florian believed in the mystical healing properties of grass and fairy types.[break][break]

He knocks on the door, anxiously tapping his thigh with his free hand.

Alexei, on the other hand, had hidden himself underneath the blanket—all the better to soothe his aching head. He didn’t want to move at all, and had even turned on the air conditioning as low as possible to keep his room chilly.[break][break]

He needed the cold air badly, because the way his body was running a fever—it was a miracle he was able to make it back to Fortree in his condition.[break][break]

He couldn’t forget that strange white fog he had run into while exploring the wilder areas of the forest beyond the city limits, and for some reason it was savage enough to bring him down. He wasn’t sure if there were other people that had traversed that direction he had gone in, but the thought alone made his stomach churn.[break][break]

Fuck, he was glad his place had a small bathroom not too far from where he was hiding underneath the blanket. While he relished the feeling of the cold air, the heat that was making his body throb and pound was more than enough to drive him crazy the longer it stayed with him.[break][break]

He was stressing out so much, he almost missed the knocking on the door, his door.[break][break]

Ugh. Who’s that? He thought, his mind in a sick, delirious haze as he very reluctantly pulled himself out of the bed and wrapped the blanket around him. It was so short it barely came to his knees. He trudged slowly across the floor, groping around until he almost walked right into the door.[break][break]

Fumbling around with his free hand, he finds the doorknob and turns it, opening the door just a bit to keep the lights from outside pouring in.[break][break]

It takes him a few moments to register the worried face of the blonde before him, but his eyes light up somewhat before he hangs his head, the better to keep the sick pounding inside it at a minimum.[break][break]

“Hi,” he managed to croak, his voice all wound up. “G-glad you’re h-here,” he added, stumbling backwards as he opened the bedroom door a bit wider.[break][break]

“C-come in, quickly… close the door. It’s so b-bright out,” he mumbled as he shuffled over to the bed, hoping Florian didn’t turn on the lights. Arceus, he felt like death as he stumbled back to the bed before throwing himself on it, grateful to be back on the soft, fluffy surface.

Alexei looks horrible.[break][break]

Florian can't help the way his blue eyes go wide as he takes in the other's appearance: the wan pallor of his skin, the sweat beading on his forehead, the bags under his eyes. He looks like death warmed over. Florian's free hand flutters uselessly at his side as he struggles to formulate the proper response to... to this.[break][break]

"Alexei..." Voice soft with pity and concern, brow furrowed with worry. "Of course I'm here!"[break][break]

What were friends for, right?[break][break]

He's quick to obey the request, slipping inside the room with Joli at his heels. The door closes and plunges the room into darkness, but Florian doesn't dare to turn on a light. Instead, he stands blinking in the absence of light until his eyes adjust enough for him to make out the vague shapes of his friend's room. He navigates to the bed and sits on the edge of it.[break][break]

"What's wrong, mon amie? Is it the flu?" He knew that had been going around, lately. The idea that whatever ailed his friend might be contagious doesn't even cross the professor's mind. He's too focused on helping him get better. "Have you eaten? Drank plenty of water? I brought soup, and tea... it always helps when I'm under the weather!"
