Unwinding in his beach chair, Desmond Kelley tried to ignore his discomfort. Beneath the floral patterns of his Hawaiian shirt, he can feel the staples that had been latched to his skin. It kept the wound closed, but he can still feel their hard ridges and the dull ache that came with every breath.[break][break]

The events of the New Years Festival were plastered to the newspaper in his lap—the blurry image of the Nihilego circled with red pen.[break][break]

He only moved when he reached for his drink, trying to ignore the splitting pain that came from extending his arm. An empty beach chair was situated next to him.[break][break]

The pina colada was ice cold. He hoped the booze would work to cut his edge as he waited for company to arrive.

a sun straw beach hat had been placed atop of his head. a casual, half-unbuttoned down, white short-sleeved collared shirt had been worn for his top. following his lower-half, the head of rocket donned a pair of white colored corduroy shorts. to add on, white beach sandals were his chosen footwear for today's beach visit.

an umbrella, held by a personal assistant standing to his side, was seen hovering over cadis upon approaching the underboss of rocket, Desmond Kelley. another assistant, wielding a briefcase, stood upon cadis' side awaiting further orders. "a wonderful day to celebrate the dead, if i may be so bold." a hand was brought to his own ear, placed behind it in an attempt to listen to the sea. "the souls have all gone home, their deaths were a noble sacrifice." cadis heard of rockets hand within the recent festivities, "to think they were actually able to pull it off. a promotion may be on the horizon for our young grunts."

a hand was brought to his chin, "how long has it been since we've had an actual rocket meeting? i've been so busy with other projects i haven't been able to interact with our the future generations of rocket." a playful sigh escaped his maw, "desmond i could use your fatherly advice right now!"

his phone beeped with a notification—the shadowfication process for the infernape subject had failed.[break][break]

desmond only gave a small hint of disapproval as he responded to the message, clicking out a discreet message to express that the body should be disposed. it was a shame, but no guilt was evident on the man's features as his eyes roamed to cadis and his long-brimmed hat.[break][break]

a hat that had no need to cast a shadow, as cadis' assistant was more than eager to block the sun. the other, with the briefcase, seemed eager to await any command—as he should be. “mhm, they just keep dropping, don't they?” like swatted cutieflies that strayed too close.[break][break]

like an infernape who's flame had been snuffed.[break][break]

“to more good fortunes—and maybe a few more nightmares that will unfold in our favor,” and he gave a raise of his drink before taking a swig, not waiting to make a toast official.[break][break]

His shoulder hurt too much for such pleasantries.[break][break]

“take a seat, let me hear your woes. after all, what greater purpose do I have than to advise?” these were twisted words from a twisted man that had helped put two rocket bosses into the ground.[break][break]

but he felt that the third time was the charm.

"no need, it'll be quick." the manufacturing of project genesis was nearing completion. he stood tall staring outward toward the sea, a haunting smile donned. "i think it's about time we've ourselves a meeting soon." with rocket remnant hiding at this time, cadis wasn't exactly worried about a bunch of talentless nobodies. they were but a simple distraction for the league. "it's almost time to start preparations upon our reintroduction." and then there was the news about their new, and permanent, base of operations.

"circe crowley's finished her personal assignment." it was given to her a long time ago; with the time and preparation it took to complete this was just what rocket needed to start their new year off: a place they could call home. "you may wanna start packing your belongings soon, for our new home awaits us," a hand would extend toward the blue sky, "there." it was rare for cadis to actually "feel" something, but he'd be lying to himself if he didn't admit that, like a child, he was excited to see the hovering palace. science truly was a magical thing.

"once project genesis has been brought to fruition, we'll have to plan out our debut." rumor had it that a recent member of the elite four had met an untimely end and that one of there polished avatars had gone rogue. "they're in a state of disarray. these ultra beasts, though unaware, are truly advantageous allies. i want our return to serve little, but so much purpose--a distraction if you will." cadis's true goal did not lie in revealing their rebirth to the public, no. he cared little for the taking of a city, should that be something the people of rocket want then by all means it can be a goal.

what cadis truly wanted was the individual who held his attention since taking the throne, "what i'm truly after is the enslavement of FERNANDO SILPH, but that's a mere personal goal. our true goal should be the capture of the woman who wields time itself," he'd come to pull a picture from his shirt pocket, "cait alfric, current avatar of the time traveler known as celebi." he'd come to pass his picture off to desmond.
