Damkina had the ability to create sandstorms. But, unfortunately, she lacked the ability to subside them. And, while she could see perfectly in the chaos of the storm, the same could not be said for the rider on the saddle strapped to her back, even with goggles donned around his eyes.

So they landed, touching down within a rocky canyon that provided them plenty of cover from the sandy winds. Hopping off from the saddle, Remiel fastened the scarf wrapped around the entirety of his head and led his Garchomp deeper into the canyon pass. They would look for a place to camp for the night, before reorienting and continuing on towards Mauville in the morning.

But creatures lurked in the dark that might not take kindly to their presence in this ancient territory...

The sound of crumbling rock set off his alarm. Quickly, Remiel looked up to see a part of the canyon breaking off from high above. Dashing forward and out of the way with Damkina, the scarfed young man turned around just in time to see a Geodude hit the ground before being buried beneath a giant mound of rock.

The winds of the sandstorm continued to howl through the shadowy canyon. That had been a fairly close call. But they hadn't found shelter yet. So the Garchomp and its master kept moving on.

capture attempt

The silhouette of a small bipedal creature appeared in the distance. As Remiel and Damkina approached, it was clear the creature was walking towards them. When they came a few mere feet away from each other, the two stopped. It was a Scorbunny. And it looked rather famished.

Remiel, of course, had seen these rabbits before in his home region. One of his fiercest rivals at Hammerlocke University was known for using a Cinderace. Though this one was malnourished and starving, the black-haired royal saw a certain... spark in its eyes. So he slowly retrieved a luxury ball from his belt, then rolled it towards the rabbit. Call it instinct, or pure luck. But the rabbit would kick the luxury ball upwards with its foot and bounce it around like a soccer ball before head-butting it into activation.

Whether intentional or not, it was captured by the flash of golden light that came out from the ball. For Remiel, all there was to do now was wait and see whether it would remain inside of it.
