Paldea was still foreign to her. The bar wasn’t quite what she was expecting nor was the gentleman that greeted her. He had a rugged handsomeness to him and likely an interesting story behind the eye patch – tested, tried, a survivor.

Mr. Cabrera didn’t skimp on the niceties. He truly was a gentleman, planting a light peck on the back of her hand, “Hm, the pleasure is mine,” behind the warm smile there was caution. After all, this was business and Toni was too practiced to let a veil of false politeness and good looks cloud her better judgment.

“Thank you,” she seated herself beside Cade at the bar, keeping an angle towards him as her dark gaze traveled across the beachside establishment, “I appreciate good wine . . . and liquor,” she wouldn’t be caught dead sipping the cheap stuff. Cade’s choice in wine would tell her quite a lot about the man right now, “I’ll have what he’s having,” she confirmed for the bartender as they moved aside to retrieve the bottle and a glass for her as well.

Toni didn’t expect Caden to resist, but she still found it surprising when he so easily let their friendship evolve into something more intimate. Really, just about as intimate as one could get. He already knew her on a level that nearly no one, not even her family, could reach. He understood her, saw her for more than the façade she puts on.

It’s too easy to melt into him. A shiver runs up her spine as his hands do. He welcomes her and whatever consequences this may bring. They both deepen the kiss, Toni’s passion growing with every shift of her hips against his. She’s aggressive, demanding, desperate for his love, if just for one night.

Her fingernails rake through his hair, taking a fistful into each palm. A small whisper of regret for tearing down the barrier between them tickles the back of her mind. She scares it away with a delicate moan against his lips. She rises and falls, moving to make him hers before logic can creep in and ruin such a perfect moment.

A decade of dancing can grow tiresome, even without one realizing it. There’s only so many dances they complete without stepping on the other’s toes. Perhaps it’s time to step.

He’s being particularly alluring tonight. The way his gentle touch tickled her skin rose goosebumps to the surface despite the smoldering heat of the hot tub. She hums, a purr-like gesture that draws her even closer to him. He’s touched her before, but never quite like this.

A nod is really all he gets as a response. The chase is thrilling, that’s exactly why she’s a hunter, not the prey. It’s what drives her to crawl closer, shifting beneath the water until their legs brushed against each other. There’s a sparkle of her predatory side shinning in her dark eyes, accentuated by the mischievous smile curling at the corner of her lips.

“I take what is mine,” and that’s exactly what she does. Before she can think twice about this potential catastrophic decision, she closes the small space between them to take his lips with hers. Toni doesn’t really give him much fo a choice. She slides across the bench to straddle him, lacing her fingers into his dark curls to deepen the kiss.

Toni was starting to like Lilycove. Maybe she made the mistake of moving to Mauville in favor of the big city feel. Beach towns were really never her ‘thing’ but Lilycove had a quaintness to it that she rather enjoyed.

The woman’s heels clicked against the Spanish tile floor as she made her way through the maze of tables to where her potential client awaited. Her first impression of him is hidden behind a practiced and polite smile.

“Mr. Cabrera?” her voice smooth and melodic. Should he acknowledge her she would extend a perfectly manicured hand in greeting, “I’m Antoinette Spina,” her dark gaze drifts towards the wine, “I see you got started without me,” the smile subtly curls into a grin.

Toni makes sure she turns off her comms before she lets out a long sigh of relief. She can her heart pounding in her Arceus damned ears. This was . . . unusual. Her head tilts slightly to see the flash of metal as the old pickup truck slowly rolled by.

H-hey! Whats’ that?!’ there’s the sound of chaos as the Malamar lulls one of the officers to sleep. Toni raises the visor on her helmet to let a sharp whistle ring out through the night which awakens the predator.

Above the four the treetops rustle, which also draws their attention away from the Malamar. A Manectric and Mightyena find their way out of the pokeballs, but before the third can release its companion, the Gliscor silently swoops down from the trees, incapacitating the ranger with GUILLOTINE.

THUNDER rips through the airs towards the scorpion, while the Mightyena lunges at the Malamar with bite.

“I’m coming around,” she whispers. Toni uses the distraction to slip out of the crevice, and try to sneak around to truck.

Keenan Toral described it well: stale. These events were quite stale. Toni took no offence to his remarks. If she wasn’t bred and primed for things like this, she likely wouldn’t stay either. Unfortunately, there was a sense of ‘duty’ that was instilled into her at a young age and that duty meant bearing through it for the ‘greater cause’. In most cases, it wasn’t the charity. Instead, it was the publicity and recognition.

Before Keenan Toral can get too far, she gently touches his arm and offers him a little smile, “If you fill up that tray with some good champagne and come back this way, I’ll make us worth your attention,” A tip, she’d give him a big fat tip. The astute heiress noticed the ease at which her lovely companion was finishing her champagne and she didn’t want either of their glass to go empty for too long.

Rosalie consumed Toni’s full attention with the flattering remark. An amused smile, soft and appreciative curled across her dark red lips, “Only with the hopes of meeting a beautiful woman like yourself,” shameless, she sips champagne, “I donated a piece. Would you like to see it?”

A half moon burned brightly against the ebon night sky. Amongst the forest of Route 102, Toni had come to hunt Grovyle and Sceptile per the request of a mutual client for Toni and virgil roach’s. A dozen or so was the request. The grass-types didn’t stand much of a chance against a pack of full grown fire-types. The three Houndoom took them easily. One nest had half the quota, so it didn’t take long.

What Toni assumed would be an easy night, took a turn for the worst . . .

Apparently, the nest was near a frequented camp site, and the current campers called on the Rangers when they heard the battle raging.

“SMOG!” she growled, Alpha blanketed the area in a thick purple haze, obscuring the silhouette of the four ranger on her tail. The woman turned and bolted, having lost her sense of direction 10 minutes ago.

’This way!’ a voice in the distance called, close enough for her to be dangerously uncomfortable. “Fuck, return!” a quick snap of her wrist recalled the three Houndoom, allowing her to move silently through the night and slip into thick shadow of a downed tree.

Toni lifts her wrist to open up her comms, speaking into the mic built into her helmet, “Hey Roach, remember when I said I wouldn’t need any help . . . yeah, I need help,” That takes a lot for the woman to admit. Later, she’d likely deny it.

MISSION

+ Toni is cornered! Help, please.

Formulating a plan came with ease. It’s something Toni did almost every night, mostly for herself . . . by herself. The shell of a person she wears drowns herself in earthly pleasures, expecting some of it to seep through and quell the loneliness. Hasn’t worked yet, but she’s stubborn. Tonight, she did for someone else, but she’s selfish. This may be for Blue but she sank her claws into it for herself. She’d have company. How different.

Of course, she was pleased Blue decided a shower would be appropriate, “I’m sure it will feel incredible to scrub the sweat off,” when didn’t a hot shower feel incredible?

Toni joined Blue in taking a longer sip of her drink, a healthy portion disappearing behind dark lips, “You’re not a vegetarian or something are you?” she probably should have asked before making reservation at a steakhouse, but they had fancy salads if that’s what she would prefer. It would be a waste, but Toni would annoyingly accept it.

“I’ll order us a cab then,” Andrew already had her card to charge the beverages on. Her attention briefly turned to her phone again to order a ride. The martini disappeared quickly and she sucked the olive off the pick.

Her undivided attention turned to Blue once more as she stood, offering a hand to help Blue out of the booth, “Ready, Murk?”

Toni’s finger gently tapped against the empty martini glass in front her of, in tune with her thoughts as they began formulating the night ahead. It didn’t take much effort, just another night out on the town for the practiced socialite.

“I figured as much,” she smiled, drawing the smartphone from her pocket. The light of the screen ignited with tap of a finger, “I’ll make us reservations then,” her practiced fingers worked their magic to quickly make the appropriate accommodations. Her gaze left the screen momentarily to smirk at Blue’s astonishment when she asked if she had something nice to wear.

“Hm, I’m sure I have something that will fit you. Plus, you’ll need to shower before we go to dinner,” Blue couldn’t go with blood smeared across her cheek. Toni set the phone down as the plans percolated in the hands of the appropriate entities. She put into play more than just dinner reservations.

Andrew arrived shortly with their refill of drinks, taking the empty glasses before he left “Thank you, Andrew,” she smiled, pushing the whiskey towards Blue, “We’ll have to finish these quickly if we want to make it to dinner,” Toni took a healthy sip of her martini before leaning back in the plush seat once more, angling towards Blue, “We’ll stop by my place first. It’s a short taxi ride away. I have a guest bedroom with a shower. Dinner is close by there,” all a part of the plan, “Unless you’re more comfortable like this.”

Personally, Toni didn’t mind the look. Obviously, she found certain aspects of the woman’s appearance attractive as is. There’s strength in scars and bruises. As much as she would like to polish her up for the aesthetic, she wouldn’t force it on her. It’s Blue’s night, after all.

Toni’s certain there’s not much to fix, just some tethers to cut free. The woman’s smile slowly grew, a pleasant brightness lighting up the dark features of her complexion when Blue accepted her proposition, although hesitant.

“Wonderful,” her voice purred, satisfied with the woman’s decision. Toni lifted her own glass in approval, also finishing the remainder of her martini. With one hand she plucked the string of olives out to slip into her mouth while she rose the other to signal to Andrew they would like another round. His nod of recognition is all she needs.

“Hmmm first we need to get rid of . . . this,” she motioned towards Blue, “The tension,” she clarified. Alcohol typically does the trick, but a budding trust should solidify it, or so Toni hoped, “Then we’ll clean you up, follow that with dinner,” the itinerary built itself easy enough, “You haven’t eaten yet, have you?” she assumed she hadn’t considering they came straight here, “Do you have anything . . . nice to wear?”

The poacher frowned at the woman’s self-deprecation, waving it off with a flick of her wrist and a shake of her head, “Anything broken can be fixed,” to a degree. It may never be perfect, but perfection was an unachievable goal made my delusion people. Unless it was Toni, she’s perfect, of course.

There seemed to be the first hint of something other than indifference as Blue considered her proposition. Patient, as always, Toni didn’t push. She would let the woman come her to own conclusions. After all, Toni’s intent was to free her of the cold chains that bound her to whatever mediocre life she happened to be living at the moment. The intent is not to change her.

“I usually am right,” she smiled, playfully flicking a lock of brown hair weaved with gold behind her shoulder. She’s obviously joking . . . maybe.

“I can encourage you to step outside your comfort zone. You may not enjoy everything I do but I can introduce you to some of the finer pleasures in life. Maybe you’ll find it fun, maybe you’ll find it exhausting. But at least it will be something different,” she leans forward onto the table, raising a perfectly curved brown in question, “One night. If you hate it, I’ll never bother you again.”

Small and boring are really the only adjectives Toni has to describe the small town. Yes, quaint to a degree but that’s not the kind of lifestyle she lived. It made for good pictures for social media and that’s about as much as she appreciated the quaintness.

“In Oldale?” she laughs at the prospect for finding a good drink there but she shrugs her shoulder as walks past Lance, back the way she came from, “I like your enthusiasm, challenge accepted.”

It doesn’t take long for the curving route to dump them back at the outskirts of the small town. The center teems with life, a beautiful flower garden the centerpiece. There’s many flower shops in the square so Toni just picks one and start meticulously inspecting the bouquets, “Now I have to find the perfect one again,” she sighs in disappointment, still mourning the loss of her previous bundle. She leans over to gently touch the thick petals of a bright orange lily, “A few more baby’s breath this one would be close to perfect,” the bright orange lilies and deep yellow golden rods were a bit too colorful. They needed some white to break them up.

The cowering Mudkip is rejected, along with the Gible that appears from behind a rocky outcropping, “Fine, I’ll take it then,” she return the Mudkip and whistles sharply, the hound turning their attention from Mewtwo and towards the dragon. The baby is no match for three full grown Houndooms. It really only takes one BEAT UP from Alpha to weaken it enough for Toni to toss a pokeball after.

It’s frustrating not knowing what is ‘accepted’ by the Creation. It can likely sense the sentiment as it prods her mind, “How am I supposed to know what you’ve seen and what you haven’t seen, then?”

The poacher tries again, this time releasing a Meowth.
