Defeat briefly gripped Nenet as the tears all but washed away in their next shower followed by the silk's confiscation. Frustrated as she met with Zev once more in their shared dream, a new plan was hatched to find another method, and soon they were storing the tears in a groove in the cell floor.

One night a soft voice whispers in her ear, and she views a strange silhouette in the tears that she cannot seem to place. It's a Pokemon - or something like it - but which or what she isn't sure.

"Today's the day. Get ready."
[break][break]
Nenet nods, a faint determination managing to claw its way up from the recess of her battered psyche. She falls in line as they begin their work, her hands moving with route familiarity across the shards to polish their surfaces. She gasps softly as an explosion rockets through the area and Zev bolts to his feet - she's slower, though nonetheless hauls herself up.

Though not as quick to act - she instead assess their position and those around. Meanwhile Zev attacks immediately and then shoves Nenet forwards. Taking his queue she bolts towards the centre of the room as directed, running directly into a Megalopolan guard. The toxic chain connected to Nenet springs to life; and spring to life it does. She does not hesitate to accept THEO BECKETT's help, and with a burst of vitality it whips towards the nearest guard to disable them.

Nenet's toxic chain entwines with the Megalopolan's own toxic chain, coming together as one, before Nenet's disconnects and she bolts by; immediately the Megalopolan's toxic chain begins to bubble as it outgrows itself - what is unrestrained growth, a burgeoning of life, but a another term for cancer?

Not stopping to view her handiwork, she continues on her way towards the centre, her hand grasping after Zev's to ensure he's following behind before she releases him.

Nenet's mouth quirks into a coy smile at Zev's reply, and she returns his kiss as passionately as it's offered. She laughs when the kiss breaks, her eyes bright; her fingertips trail down Zev's shoulders, to his arms, to his hands, where she squeezes him before she settles on the edge of the bed.

Legs spread wide to rest over Zev's shoulders, Nenet murmurs a low, appreciative, "Good boy." Fingers first tangling in his hair to pull, Nenet's hands move down to dig into the man's spine, coaxing out ripples of dark crystal beneath her nails.

She curls, legs squeezing Zev's head threateningly as her nails dig into the crystalline flesh below. With a soft puff of air, she demands breathlessly, "Get on the bed, you're not done."

The nightgown tossed to the ground, Nenet idly stares at it sometime later. Sated and content, her eyes half-lid, she traces formulas across Zev's skin. With a mirthful hitch of her voice, she mumbles a low, "Happy Anniversary."

Nenet nods thoughtfully as Lulu speaks. "It could be," she muses aloud, her fingertips lifting to trace the sun as she speaks. "And it's connected to the sun and moon somehow." She lightly taps the sun before withdrawing her hand.

Shaking her head she backtracks, informing Lulu instead, "When Zev and I were here we saw the moon explode. Lunala's attack hit the crust and caused and earthquake. I saw it shatter before we left."

"Oh, well," Nenet answers breezily, acidly as they enter the lab, "If Walsh knows there goes my plans." She moves purposefully through the area, her hand motioning to a scale for Cillian to stand on as she takes the Antidote.

She records the number and then motions towards one of the chairs for him to take a seat.
[break][break]
A few phone calls later sees an assistant into the lab to place an IV into Cillian's arm. With that placed, Nenet explains, "We'll infuse a bit of the poison at a time and see how your body handles it." She places a glass beaker into his has as she instructs, "Have your Pokemon fill that with its poison."

The Antidote is drawn into a syringe and set nearby, and Nenet murmurs, "You're going to need to tell me how you feel as we proceed."

Nenet returned the kiss, her hands coming to rest over Zev's wrists where she held onto him; her fingertips lightly rest over the point of his pulses, reassuring her of his presence.

"We went back to the prison cell and you took the floor." She winces subtly as she speaks, something akin to sympathy colouring Nenet's expression as she looks over Zev. "But I remember the mask too," she adds, her voice low and pensive.

"I think it was just a manifestation of my wants - nothing real. It showed me life forming."

Nenet sighs, feeling as if she's been run into the ground. Tipping her chin towards the nearby vats holding her own Pokemon, she asks, "Have you found yours?"

Nenet awoke and tears obscured her vision; she squint through the blurriness, her fingers lightly touching the tears before gathering them into the palms of her hands to stare. They felt important - something she should keep - so she sits and quietly considers her options. Meanwhile, Zev moves and stores something within the desk drawer, and an idea idly strikes her.

Pulling the red silk that connected the shoulders of the kimono to the sleeves, Nenet takes the red cords and lays them out before her; she carefully soaks her tears into the cloth and then ties it up into her hair, making a makeshift hair tie to pull her hair back. Eventually, she slinks over to the desk and does the same thing with Zev's stored tears - the cloth knotted in the middle and tied over the first cord to differentiate them.

A routine forms in the prison, one that slowly bites at Nenet's sanity and picks at her confidence. It was clear Zev was doing his best to shield her as much as he could, but there was nothing he could do for the needle-sharp thoughts of self degradation that wormed its way into her brain over the course their shared suffering.

Some of the fights picked between Nenet and Zev weren't wholly for show, but each night they murmured to one another and reaffirmed their bond beneath the eerie, near-lifeless vats that held her sleeping pokemon.
[break][break]
One memorable break in the suffering occurs during her time with the Wellspring Mask. She makes out a chained man, the image as abstract as it is clear to her: he wields the chains of Avatars while someone else - Team Rocket - holds the one around his own neck.

It was almost a warning - one shared with Zev in their shared dream. She stands vigilant against its dreamer.
[break][break]
The days bleed one into the other, and yet Nenet continues onwards. Despite her body and mind aching with fatigue, she meticulously soaks the red cords with tears each waking; would they truly be useful, or was her mind finally snapping beneath the weight of their reality?

SPACE DISTORTION #17

Hoping to slip in undetected and remain that way, Nenet travels with two Charmander at her side as she slinks through the Giant Chasm to try and find tera shards to examine. She's lucky for the most part - the area is silent save for the storm that rumbles above.

Working by the dim firelight cast from her Pokemons' tails she silently digs out a small crystal from the mouth of a cave system. It's going well - nothing has attacked so far and with a little luck they'll be out of here in no time.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, luck is not on her side and a deep growl from within the cave jolts Nenet into the present. From the darkness she can hear the mechanical whirl of what she can only assume is a Paradox Pokemon. Her male Charmander puffs up and inhales, sending a Fire Spin into the tunnel without hesitation, while her female Charmander opens her maw and spews out a Fire Blitz.

There's chaos briefly, and whatever was encroaching flees back into the tunnel system; for a heart-stopping moment Nenet was convinced it would thunder out and trample them.

"Good job," she praises her Pokemon, only to pause and them smile. Before her the Charmanders glow, and a moment later two Charmeleon stand together. One orange and the other golden, they puff up their chests proudly.

Nenet's eyes had opened to the flash of neon lights, skyscrapers, and unfamiliar streets: Megalopolans wandered about, a typical rush hour in any city, and her mouth glued shut as she caught sight of sharp teeth amidst the scattered conversations.

Trying not to draw attention to herself, she slinks into an empty building, one that reminded her of a daycare centre, and was met with the ghastly sight of her Pokemon floating unconscious in vats filled with fluid.

She isn't sure how much time passes as she watches their unconscious bodies, her feet rooted to the floor, only that she has no answers to her current predicament and she has no idea how she's gotten here. A sudden sound causes her to jump, and eyes wide, she turns to find Zev of all people standing at the entrance.

"Zev?" she asks, disbelieving and relieved. There was no one around to see her catch his hand, to draw his hand to her cheek to feel the warmth of his palm.
[break][break]
"I don't know how I got here." Golden eyes search Zev's features as she speaks, her body slowly relaxing as she tells herself over and over again that Zev must be real.

Nenet snorts softly, a dismissive sound that could be construed as scathing to the right ear. Her head turns away from Zev, once more scanning the sea of unfamiliar faces before she's donning clothing once more. Something about the vision nagged at the back of her mind: the sum did not match the tally on the page. She wasn't sure what was exactly wrong, only that something was, and she remains quiet until they are lead back to their cell.

She hesitates for a bare moment near the front of the cell, uncertain what Zev will do, and does not move until he settles on the floor. An apology would be forthcoming once they were out of this mess, even if Zev understood the ferocity with which she would protect her career.

Wordlessly she settles onto the cot and wraps her arms around herself, a soft sigh spilling from her lips, and tries to drift off to sleep. Her mind whorls with thoughts, and its not until she focuses on the sound of Zev's breathing that she finally manages to drift away into dreams.

Lulu had said she knew the way, so instead of waiting Nenet found herself at their meeting place early. The Moone Altar rose before her, same as it had been, as if the world hadn't broken apart beneath her and Zev.

She absently paces its diameter before returning to the centre, brow knit faintly as her hands run along the cold stone the altar. The Pokeflute was nowhere to be seen, and above the circular door was unmoving.

At her side hovers the Lunatone once native to this realm; it floats lazily, signalling nothing of concern in the immediate area. Soon, however, it slowly turns in a singular direction and Nenet glances that way to find her investigative companion has made it.

"Lulu," she greets, her voice warm. "I'm glad you could make it."
