Maeve knew most people on a shallow level. Maybe that said more about her than anything, but she'd never had the time to dig beneath the surface. Time had taught her never to know more about a person beyond what she could use against them. That was a tactic taken right out of her parent's playbook. Maybe she wasn't too different from the rest of the Kilbane empire.

Maeve didn't often take the time just to relax. Her life felt like constant motion. Not even productive motion but more anxious and dirty motion than anything. It felt for the sake of feeling alive rather than for the effort of being alive, which were two entirely different things. She wasn't certain if she'd be the same person that Briar used to hang out with. Things certainly weren't the same anymore, but she could at least pretend otherwise, right?

Mae-Maeeeee! Okay, some things obviously hadn't changed. Despite the roll of her eyes at that old begrudged nickname, Maeve found herself smiling. Briar was like liquid sugar and cotton candy in human form. She even looked like cotton candy. If she wasn't careful, her teeth might rot out of her skull. And yet, Briar had always been so different from the other girls in their highschool. Maeve had always been so prone to finding herself in the middle of drama, but not with Briar. Oh no, never with Briar.

"Hey, babe." She grinned at that before stepping inside, "I know I know I know." She waved it off, but knew well that the things that domineered her life were far from the things she actually wanted. Sometimes even the things you love, for her it was music, became painstaking enablers for the bad things you'd be better off without.

"Are you kidding? I'm starving! What's on the menu?" She was dressed in Zubat pajamas to further make the point to herself that this was fun relaxation.

Success. It was nice, simply relaxing for once. She had always enjoyed pokemon. Her parents had never cared much for the creatures that populated the world they lived in. It was understandable, they had their own empire to build and run. Yet they had never allowed their daughter to enjoy the world for what it was.

Pocketing the newly acquired Purrloin, it wasn't long before another pokemon sprung from the brush. This time, it was admittedly her favorite bird types. She remembered them from when she was younger, out in the garden area pestering the other birds, they reminded her of herself in that.

She pulled out another safari ball and tossed it towards the unassuming murkrow.

The wild Purrloin appeared through the brush then, entirely unbothered by her presence. It was very likely that the feline didn't care if she was there or not, such was in their nature. For a moment, Maeve waited with a hand weighted by the round form of the safari ball. She was more of a cat person herself (though dragons were her favorite), so it would suit her just fine to add him to her small collection.

She pressed a finger to her lips in quiet as her noivern waited to strike. She didn't think it would be necessary, as the purrloin had yet to notice her. Here goes nothing, she thought before throwing the first ball.

It was a bit late in the month to head out to the safari zone, but she'd found a tugging need to do so. Her life always felt so hectic and moments like these, in peace and quiet and around pokemon, Maeve felt most at peace. Maybe if she allowed herself to exist in that peace, maybe she could live like this and be happy, but that seemed almost too easy.[break][break]
Autumn leaves scattered as she walked, anxiously spinning one of the given safari balls in her hand. Cicero, her Noivern was busying himself disturbing said peace and quiet, but he was harmless (mostly). She tried not to be too distracted, after all this wasn't always a safe place. Even the quiet places had secrets lurking in the shadows.

This year she'd been particularly lazy, when under normal circumstances she was competitive when it came to halloween costumes. The dress she was draped in a was a usual, but it did the deed. Honestly, it was more of an excuse to show off her legs, so what? In truth, she was dressed for spooky season all year long so this was just any other day.

In a room of liars, she'd always enjoying being the most forthright bitch there. Even if that wasn't, by any means, a difficult task. Maeve was not a good liar, which was probably why she couldn't get away with shit. Maybe someone would give her lessons one day, but her personality wasn't one easily contained. It was always a wonder to her how easy it was to feel entirely alone in a place so densely packed. She'd been surrounded by enough riotous crowds to know that life was not a number's game. Quality over quantity or some shit...

There was one person who didn't seem to be enjoying themselves too much, which was just Maeve's type of person. She leaned over the top bannister behind the woman, looking down at the couple in her line of sight. "I can't wait for her to realize he lives in a van. It's kinda cool though, has a disco ball."
