Maybe her parents didn't love her enough. Maybe they did. It doesn't really matter. It doesn't matter if the house had been too silent or if the people in her life were only there because they were paid to be. Her family had wealth, of course, so maybe she doesn't have a right to complain. This is just a "phase", they say. It's gone on long enough. It needs to end, or else. Whatever that means... All she knows is there's something missing, some emptiness she can feel no matter the substances she tries to add value to her life. She always comes down feeling worse, in the end. So maybe she can blame her mother or her father, the vacancy of that dead home (the barren womb). The stink of rich cologne. The men that've followed. The mistakes she's made. It doesn't matter.

It stinks of smoke and sweat on the stage. She sways a little where she stands. Her hands are slick on the mic and she gets a nosebleed from the medication she's taken (it sounds more official than pills). At first, when she falls, they barely notice. Crooked Vullabies don't stop till they're kicked out, till they black out, until things are too far gone to resolve. She cracks her head open on the ground in front of the stage and everyone stops and stares for a moment. Some day, maybe it'll all make sense, why nothing feels real anymore.
