His maneuver number five seemed to pay off somewhat but they were still behind. They would need to try and make up for the distance. But they couldn’t get careless. The idiom work smarter, not harder ran through his mind as they started to come back up to the first lap again. He knew from the first time the last turn was pretty sharp due to them having built up a good amount of speed by the third u-turn.

He was sure that all three turns would be pretty sharp now that they’d been able to built up speed. Which meant getting around them wound be trickier. Since he could now use speed boosters he could have Mirage use agility but they felt that there was a higher chance of them loosing control if they built up to much speed.

Boosting his speed might be better left for the second lap. When he could use it to make that jump. Even if that meant he wouldn’t make any headway of catching up with the others. But the urge just to let loose and catch up as soon possible was there. However he knew one wrong move would mean him falling even further behind. Something that he wanted to prevent if he could.

This time caution would trump risk and he would decide to hold off on boosting his speed for now. Better to not go fast on the turns that he would end up loosing control. Which would only hamper him even more.

Who did they think they were? Did they think he was born yesterday. Sure he might not be the best at noticing social cues but that didn’t mean he was naive. So when some strange person had come up to him selling X-Attacks he had declined. He had been as polite as possible. But perhaps he had been too polite, because he hadn’t been left alone about the matter.

He wasn’t officially league well not in the sense that he was anyone important by league standards. The teen was no officer. Nor was he a ranger. Or in any other position that held power. But he was nothing if not persistent at times. So when he had gotten wind of this operation he had gone to the higher ups to be allowed to go on this operation.

At first he had been denied as expected. But he had persisted and they had relented. Though only after asking why he was so desperate to go. The fact of the matter was was that they had taken his medicine when he had left it unattended to go to the bathroom. And he knew that it was some kind of retaliation for not buying what they were saying. Or maybe it was because he had implied they were stupid. To be fair he hadn’t meant to say any of that out loud.

Anyway the point was was that they had taken his medicine or herbal remedy whatever you wanted to call it. And he had pointed out that it would just be easier for him to go get it himself than someone trying to follow some description they had been given. After promising he wouldn’t leave the side of the other person on the operation he was allowed to go.

He moved quietly his Wrydeer out of his pokeball instead of Mirage, his H.Zoroark. The teen moved quietly going over the description he had been given. Seeing a guy who resembled the description he had been going he made his way over to him making sure to keep quiet in case the people they were trying to stop were patrolling.

His Wrydeer would approach first to insure the older male wouldn’t think he was one of the bad guys and accidentally attack him. Then after he was sure no attacks were going to fly his way he would approach himself. ”Hello, I was giving permission to join the operation to get back something that was taken from me. It’s kind of hard to explain what it was. They didn’t like me refusing their product so I guess they took it to try and force me into compliance,” he would say awkwardly, looking at the ground as if it had become the most interesting thing in the world to him.[break] Remiel Calcifet

He watched the attacks hit the Articuno. Royal was able land a hit on the Articuno and he tensed when his Pokémon was thrown back. To his relief the feline Pokémon wasn’t knocked out. He felt the fear in his throat lesson and he barely paid attention to the rest of the fight to busy being relieved that he wouldn’t be down another Pokémon. It was bad enough that Mirage was knocked out, he wasn’t sure what he would do if anymore of his Pokémon for down for the count.

The teen was pulled out of his thoughts as the battles were won. It was relief that they had won. And he expected them to be beamed up or whatever so they could finally go home. However nothing like that happened. He frowned wondering why they weren’t being sent home. Hadn’t they protected the towns enough? Hadn’t they accomplished what they had been sent to do?

Fear shot through him wrapping around his heart like icy tendrils as he watched people get chosen to become royalty. One person being made Queen snapped him back to his senses. He remembered what she had said to rally the townsfolk. And at the time too much had been going on to worry about it. But he had thought her approach crazy and hadn’t believed a speech like her would work on inspiring the towns people. Only except it had. By some weird miracle it had.

”They’re making the crazy lady Queen?” he asked staring at Rhydia Ver . It took him a few seconds to realize something he had only meant to think he had said out loud. His face quickly heated up in embarrassment before he ducked away. Yeah he was going to hole himself up somewhere now. Less of a chance for him to embarrass himself that way.

The First Month

The first month came and he frowned as he noticed he was getting low on his remedy. Of course he had been getting pretty low before he had come here. So the fact he was running out shouldn’t be too surprising. It did make him wonder what would happen once he did run out. Hopefully he would be able to come up with alternatives.

Because something told him they would be here awhile. Probably had something to do with the prophecy that had been found. After hearing it he had a terrible feeling of foreboding. That they weren’t leaving anytime soon. A feeling he had failed to share with anyone else.

Perhaps he didn’t want to be that person. The person who brought everyone’s mood down. Or maybe he still wasn’t use to interacting with people. After all he was still avoiding at Rhydia Ver due to what he had said a month ago. It was to easy for him to get overly embarrassed about something and he knew he would probably feel this embarrassment for awhile.

A normal person might apologize and be done with it. But he didn’t really know how to deal with people so he hadn’t done that.

Mirage, who had woken up a few days after dealing with Articuno, sensing his distress would try to comfort him. He was relieved that his companion had managed to wake himself up. And he would make sure to keep a better eye on Mirage in the future.

A Year Later

A year had passed. It had been a long year. As he expected it had taken long for him to run out of his medicine. They had also been here for awhile as he initially thought. His health had started to deteriorate further. It had taken awhile for him to tell someone about his condition. Though so far he had only come clean to one person.

And that person was John Sullivan who he felt would be the most likely to be able to help him since he had seen his healing with his own eyes. To his day it was hard to imagine being able to accomplish such a feat. The logical part of his brain just didn’t see the logic of someone being able to accomplish such a feat.

Thanks to John Sullivan he had been able suppress his symptoms. However it only worked so well. As long as he didn’t push himself to hard he was fine. Due to his ten years of isolation he didn’t always know how to take things easy. He had been on best rest recently. Though usually when he ended up on bed rest he would spend the time writing letters to Josh Devlin the only person he knew in this twisted version of Galar that wasn’t in his current location.

He would send the letters out when he was able to before waiting for a reply. While doing that he would work on his social skills by socializing with others. It hard since he was socially awkward. But those he had interacted with hadn’t seemed to care. He had even met another person that was socially awkward his name was jayden cross . Their social awkwardness was something they could bond over.

Over the year he had decided to be look out along with Royal. With the observatory being the best place for that he would go up there. Often times he would run into others there. The most notice being luka chêne and Rhydia Ver two of new royalty that had been chosen. After a year he had long since gotten over his embarrassment and would greet both politely with a bow of his head. However it was clear he was too comfortable with either of them, whenever they did meet, especially Rhydia Ver who he was still a bit wary of. The best way to know he was uncomfortable in their presence was how stiff his speech was when addressing them. Then again that was how he talked to most people until he got to know them. But considering they were both considered royalty now getting him to relax the way he spoke to them would be practically impossible.

Whenever he ran into anyone in the observatory he would exchange a few polite words with them before going to keep watch like he had initially intended. With him and the feline Pokémon working as look outs they were able to call a warning whenever some more of those hordes of poison Pokémon would arrive. Then he would join the frontlines with Mirage at his side. With his aid they would battle back against the hordes of Pokémon that would show up.

Ten Years Later

Ten years. Ten who years had passed it was hard to believe he was now twenty-three. Everyday he thought of his family. About what they were doing. About how they were handling his disappearance. Did they think he had run away? Or did they think he had died. The idea that it was either of those made him frown.

He sighed and patrolled the town. Being look out was something he still did among other things. Now he also tried to use science to help them out. He was figuring out new things about science since they had been brought here. Like science didn’t work completely the same way here.

On his patrol he spotted jayden cross making him grin. Though the mask he wore over the bottom half of his face would hide it his eyes would give away the fact he was smiling. Him and the other male had become close over the years. To the point he was less stiff with his speech with the other male. Or course he as that way with a few others but Jayden was the second outside of John Sullivan but that had been out of necessity. He would say he was also pretty close to Hideo Kino as well due to being the same age as the other young man it also helped that the the blind youth had helped him with finding ways to suppress his symptoms during that first year after he had found out, despite being busy with the school he had started up. Those three were probably the ones he was closest to for one reason or another.

He made his way over to the other male coming to a halt once he had gotten close enough to the older male. ”Hello, how have you been?” he would ask his expression curious. Once he received a response he would ask the question that was really on his mind. ”Hey do you ever think about what’s happening out there? What people thinks happened to us?” He would ask his expression a strange mix of pained and wistful.

He missed his family. The young man even missed his overbearing parents. He supposed that was pretty common though. The weight of what his family might think had happened to him weighed heavily on his mind.

He supposed he should be grateful he still had his Pokémon but he just couldn’t get over not having his family by his side. Not even the presence of his Pokémon could make up for not having his family by his side. Even after ten years. It was something he had talked to Josh Devlin in their letters and jayden cross in person.

He shook himself wincing at the tightness in his chest thinking about such sad things had caused. Before Jayden could worry he would wave the older male off. ”It’s okay I was just thinking about my family. Who knew sadness could have some affect on my condition,” he said with a sigh.

It was at the point that he remembered he was supposed to be patrolling the town. ”Ah dang it I’m on patrol right now. We’ll catch up later though right?” he would inquire. Rather or not he would receive a response he would move on. He would make his way to the observatory and slowly make the climb up. He would first make sure John Sullivan didn’t see him knowing the older male wouldn’t like him overexerting himself.

Reaching the top he would take a few minutes to catch his breath before releasing Royal from his pokeball. Then he would make his way over to the telescopes and peer through one to look out over the area. He knew Royal would be able to notice before any enemy arrived but he liked being about to check things out himself.

At first he didn’t see anything. But soon enough he would spot something coming their way. ”Something’s coming!” he would call out as he sounded the alarm. Hoping the early warning would help.

Necrozma Arrives

Wanting to get down quickly he would withdraw Royal and send out Mirage getting on the dual type and riding him down the mushrooms. The young man would remain on top of Mirage but would release his Jigglypuff from her Pokémon to aid in protecting the town. After doing so he would join the others on the front lines. He would help defend their home by having Song use disarming voice against the new threat. Eventually their attacks would drive it away making him sigh in relief.

It would be after they had driven it away that he would notice the metal left behind. Frowning he would go over to it and pick up a piece examining it. ”If you give me a bit of time I can see what this can do and tell everyone what I’ve discovered,” he tell the gathered people.

After that he would spend his days tinkering with it along with some other people like Violet Fairbanks , a girl he frequently met when he was in the observatory keeping watch or doing science related things, to discover what it could do. And after some time he would find out what it could be used for. He would share his findings with the others. And tell them how the metal could be used to make weapons infused with Pokémon moves.

After a but he would figure out how to make the weapons and would make his own. An archery set infused with H.Zoroark’s bitter malice. After commissioning his own weapon and getting over the fact he had Mirage by his side again he would offer to work on other’s weapons. Mostly focusing on the weapon’s for the royals or his friends at first like jayden cross he would also make the weapon for Felix Gallagher another person he considered a friend.

He would let the Xatu put the sunscreen on him as he continued to converse with the girl. Since he was trying to focus on not making a fool of himself he missed the bit of annoyance she couldn’t hide. For that reason her reassurance worked and he gave her a shaky grin, relieved that he hadn’t offended her somehow but not noticed her right away.

To be fair he hadn’t noticed the Xatu ride away either until it had been right beside him. No he had been to busy stressing himself out over getting someone to help him. Everyone in his family told him he would work himself into a panic attack one of these days doing stuff like that. But that hadn’t happened yet. Though at this point he was sure he had this girl and her Xatu to thank for approaching him before he could work himself into a panic attack.

Upon hearing her question he would nod before speaking. ”Yes, my sister claimed to be busy so I made my way here by myself,” he explained wondering if she was in the same boat minus the whole sister thing. Or if she was here with anyone. Perhaps the class that had arrived here, probably on some kind of field trip.

”What about you? Are you here on your lonesome as well? Or did you come with someone?” he inquired with veiled curiosity. Hopefully she wouldn’t mind answering. He knew some would be worried about stranger danger. Something he himself should be more concerned over. But since she hadn’t given him any reason to be wary of her, he wasn’t worried. Looking around he noticed a lot of the people among the beach crowd were children as well. Approaching another child was more daunting than approaching an adult. Mainly because he wasn’t sure how to interact with others around his age outside his siblings. And both of them were a few years older than him. Though he had interacted with that one kid.

He still felt like he had made a fool of himself at times when interacting with Asher Baran though. But he also knew he wasn’t going to get anywhere by just sitting there. All he had to do was just approach someone and ask them if they could help with his sunscreen. How hard could it be?

Apparently pretty hard. He was just starting to convince himself to just for it when he heard a sound behind causing him to quickly turn towards the sound. Upon turning he was met with and Xatu. ”Hello,” he said relieved when he didn’t stumble over his words as he often did when he was caught off guard.

To his relief he was told that Shalin wasn’t offended. It did make him curious about her blunt tone though. He supposed it really wasn’t his business though so he would just let it go. Besides they had moved on with the conversation anyway, there was no point in continuing to harp on one thing.

His attention was momentarily grabbed by Lathiel as the Type: Null charge towards him. Instead of falling in beside Shalin like he expected he instead fell in beside him and Mirage. He eyed the Type: Null curiously reminded himself to ask Shalin how she had inquired one. It seemed like a pretty interesting Pokémon if not a bit violent at times.

Oh right he remembered Josh Devlin talking about riding a beedrill. The gym leader had confirmed his thoughts on it being taxing on the body. ”With how stressful something like that is on a the body I wouldn’t be able to do that. I have be careful with what I put my body through. I was born with underdeveloped lungs,” he admitted frowning slightly. ”Riding Mirage doesn’t put much stress on my body even if I have him go as fast as he can. Running around actually puts more strain on my body than riding does.”

”That sounds great,” he said glad that the gym leader was on board. He wondered if this was what making a friend was like. Definitely not a question he was going to ask. Wasn’t about to get into how he had been isolated for the first ten years of his life due to his parents being worried about his condition.

For those that thought his sister was overprotective they had never heard about his parents. His parents took it to the extreme. At least his sister let him leave the house. And let him he an actual kid. It wasn’t something he could say about his parents. Sure he knew his parents loved him but their protectiveness had prevented him from actually being a kid for the first ten years of his life.

He listened what the gym leader had to say. Making note of the unfamiliar region he had mentioned. ”Ageos? Can’t say I’ve heard about it. Wasn’t on any of the maps my father had,” he said knowing he would remember if it had been. ”It’s a shame that you’re having trouble importing Pokémon from there. I guess that’s what happens when the place has a dysfunctional government. You would think someone would try to fix it though.”

He knew fixing a government wasn’t easy. But if it was getting in the way of importing Pokémon then something needed to be done about it. He couldn’t understand why people would be okay living in a place with a dysfunctional government. Especially if it was messing with the trade system.

The beach was great place. Even if this was his first time here. Until recently he hadn’t known how to swim. So there hadn’t been too much point of going to the beach if you couldn’t get into the ocean. At least two him there wasn’t. Even having lived in Alola he had never been to the beach. The closest he had ever got was whenever he had gotten on a ship or ferry.

At thirteen it was probably weird he had only just learned to swim. But his parents had been too afraid of his poor health to teach him. And since coming to Hoenn three years ago he had been to focused on trying to be an actual kid. The whole swimming thing had been pushed to the back of his mind. But he had finally learned the basics.

Because of that he still wasn’t that strong of a swimmer. So he wouldn’t be able to go to far out in the ocean. That was okay though. Just as long as he could get cooled off. But before that he would reapply his sunscreen. With his fair skin he would have to reapply frequently so he didn’t burn.

Walking around the beach he finally found a spot he liked and set down all of his stuff. Sitting down all his stuff he took out a towel and laid it out to sit on. Once he had done that he did a quick check to make sure he had everything. Once he had done that he looked through his bag for the sunscreen.

Finding it he took off the his t-shirt and began to spray the sunscreen on himself. However there was only so much he could reach. And he huffed when he found himself incapable of reaching his back. His sister had sprayed him down before he set off but she had been too busy to come with him, so he would just have to have to get some else to help.

However just the thought of going up to a random stranger and asking them to spray his back with the sunscreen made him uncomfortable. Approaching people made him pretty nervous since wasn’t the best when it came to socializing being a bit socially awkward.[break] Morrigan Anderson

Hearing his comment he couldn’t help but frown. He couldn’t understand how any parent could neglect their own kids. At least his had paid attention to him. A little to much if you asked him. Both parenting styles had their drawbacks considering both could stunt a child emotionally.

”Sorry that must be hard. My own parents were good but….” he trailed off as he tried to figure out a way of saying what he needed to. He supposed he could go for a more watered down version. ”Due to health reasons my parents kept me inside the house for the first ten years of my life. My siblings could go out take the island challenge but I couldn’t. It was considered too much for me to handle,” he said with a small shrug.

At the mention of sisters having their heads on straight he couldn’t help but chuckle. ”Yeah she’s great. Lets me actually be a kid,” he told the older male. Then realizing how it might seem like he was disrespecting his parents he decided to speak once more. ”My parents went well though. I was their first biological child and was born too early. I can understand why that would worry them so much especially when it came to my condition,” he said rambling a bit in his need not to come off like he was disrespecting his parents.

Luckily the subject changed and he eagerly engaged in the topic. It helped that it was about pokemon. Hearing the question he nodded his eyes lighting up as he decided to give a little input on dodrio. It didn’t really occur to him that he might not want to hear it. He was already opening his mouth to speak.

He had said all of this proudly. And one would have to wonder how he knew all of this. Truth was the teen had only read it once while looking over his fathers notes and had remembered it since. To be honest he didn’t believe in curses because he saw no logic behind them. ”There’s no logic behind curses. Though I suppose with how much trouble Kaz is giving you it wouldn’t be hard to consider the possibility,” he said looking at the flightless bird.

To his relief the older male was okay. ”That’s good,” he said with a grin. The talk of witched had him raising a brow? ”Witches? I’d rather be a mage or like Merlin instead,” he said his expression pensive. He hadn’t read a lot of good fairytales with witches.

”Mirage is a boy, but I would like to think he’s stronger than he looks. Riding double is really an option with a Pokémon like Mirage though,” he explained his own gaze fixed on the normal/ghost type.

The offered sandwich was quickly eaten and he winced as Ozni was prevented from putting Kaz into his pokeball when the dodrio grabbed the pokeball and started to try and swallow it. Seeing moved out of his peripheral vision he turned to see a Bulbasaur and a Stantler. Gesturing for Mirage to deal with the Stantler while he helped the older male.

While his partner helped the other human Mirage went on the attack against the Stantler as directed. The H.Zoroark used foul play slamming into the Stantler. The Stantler attempted to use stomp but it didn’t affect Mirage to up his speed Mirage used agility for following up with another foul play.

The Stantler then attempted to use jump kick only to be hit with recoil damage when he missed. Barely pausing as he tried to help the older male he tossed an empty pokeball at the Stantler causing him to be sucked into the pokeball.[break] Ozni Adebayo

What he wasn’t expecting was for the older teen to start dragging him. He stumbled but luckily didn’t fall just kept moving after the older teen. ”I’ve gotten out plenty in the past three years. I guess I’ve just been focused on going out to try and get more Pokémon on my team,” he said his lungs starting to protest the brisk walk they were taking.

He was breathing through his nose hoping that would help. But he would probably have to ask for them to slow down. The surprise at being referred to as nerdy made him stumble but he was quick to regain his balance. He had never referred to himself as nerdy before but he supposed it was true.

As always when he caught off guard by something he said the first thing that popped into his mind. ”No nothing like that my parents just kept me at home for the first ten years of my life,” he said before what he had just said registering making him flush in embarrassment. His lungs were really aching now and he knew he would have to ask to slow down.

He supposed had a point. Nowadays it seemed the less healthy thing for people was food. There was so many unhealthy foods. But there were unrelated food health risk as well. Depending on where someone was just breathing the air could be hazardous to someone’s health. There was a reason his sister had decided to move them to Verdanturf after all.

”I suppose you have a point. And maybe I’m just saying that because my health is bad to begin with. And I don’t need to go out of my way to make it worse. Which is why I watch what I put in my body. That and my family would be disappointed if I didn’t take care of myself,” he said with a small shrug.

While Sven took care of the dusting he moved some boxes. He supposed later on he would look through some of them. The ones that had been here before today might have some important items in them. Things that might’ve been put up here by mistake.

Hearing his comment he frowned. ”I’m not physically strong. With exercise it’s to easy to overexert myself. Surprisingly enough riding Mirage doesn’t put that much strain on my body. It’s less taxing to ride him than it is to walk everywhere,” he explained as he moved the last box out of the way.

Now that he was done with that he turned to face the older male. At some point the older male has acquired a headband. Figuring it was being used to keep his hair out of his eyes he didn’t comment on the new accessory item. Besides talking fashion had never really interested him.

Soon enough Sven had finished with the wood work and he nodded. Once he had lifted the boxes he would use a some wood polish and a cloth to polish the wood. Hopefully it would stay dust free longer with the wood polish meaning it would hopefully stay cleaner as well.[break] sven korolev
