damian's neutral gaze shifted into worry as reese began to down his beverage, but their bewitching innocence overshadowed all of that. to damian reese was like a walking plushie. their androgynous features, paired with their quirky personality, made his bitter beer taste all the better--almost like skittles and rainbows.

damian, taking one more sip of his beer, stood from his seat lazily. a grunt uttered as though he had brittle and old bones. "arcade games...?" damian wasn't the best when it came to technology. he was like an old soul possessing the body of a youthful adult. "i'm not the best at them, but i'm not against it." reese was more likely able to best him in that department.

"where do you even find the time to learn how to use this complicated stuff?" he'd examine the machines the duo were to pass by. each one seeming harder than the next. "learning how to play a game seems like such a drag." and then came his slothful nature, "try not overdo it, lightweight."

"oh..." damian, though it did not show upon his neutral expression, had been taken aback. the scenery before them wasn't what he'd expected. considering the name of the establishment was dubbed "PLAYGROUND", he expected more. more being that this was an adult establishment for those who wanted to play on a jungle gym made for adults.

instead it was more a club scene. damian, cleaning his ear with a pinky, didn't understand reese's youthful terminology as they clung to damian. there was a bar near them. guiding the pair toward the station of booze and alcohol, he would say, "you should lighten up, we're here now. we may as well make the best of it." besides, maybe they could meet some new people while here or score some party favors.

"where's your sense of adventure, this is the perfect place to work on your..." damian tried to remember the acronym used, "..edm?" reese really needed to stay off the internet, "the hell's a cottagecore anyway..." damian pondered aloud.

"oh..." he would take a long pause once again, "...oh, that's right. i'm a certified emt. so a paramedic will do." after all, he did have an interest in becoming, possibly, a pokemon doctor. he wasn't sure about that path. how could he have forgotten that was his entire reason for applying. must have slipped the youth's mmind.

"shin..." the name was cute. it made damian smile from how adorable he found it. "i like it...cute..." damian would take his seat. suddenyl, he'd cover his mouth realizing he, once more, spoke without thought. his father was right, he needed to break that bad habit of his.

his mind went blank for a brief moment. trying to remember what position did he want exactly. thinking back to it he would recall finding a unique to burn water. a finger would come to be placed near his bottom lip as he fell deeper into thought. had shinobu fujimori taken a closer look, he would be able to see that there were a few cuts and bruises upon his hand. all from his attempt at cooking from the night before.

suddenly a riolu would manifest from its ball. ferociously shaking its head toward shinobu as it stood atop of the desk. "oh, riolu!" he would pick up the pokemon and placed him upon his lap, "i make his food all the time. he loves my cooking." once again the pokemon would ferociously disagree, but its adorableness blinded damian. "though, waitstaffing could be interesting." he would prefer to not have any interaction with annoying customers, but he was willing to take what he can.

"thanks." a small smile formed from praise.

damian began to space out at the questions. the gym leader said so much he wasn't sure on which to respond to. damian became lost in thought as he pondered on the questions. "biology, i thought learning about the body of human and pokemon were pretty cool." that's all he could say on the subject; though there was more to it than he led on. "i like pokemon and i like people, nothing more and nothing less." damian would then proceed onto the next answer.

"badges..." he wondered what exact purpose did they serve, "...i like pokemon." he responded neutrally once more with the same answer. he grew up around them, watching them, and thought they were cool. "i never had an interest in them." the purpose stay served didn't poke his interest. "too much work for an uncool title, and the thought of being bothered by everyone because you're champion sounds..." he'd imagine the harassment one could receive, "exhausting."

his return home had gone well so far. with getting ready to live on his own and what not, he would need to acquire a second job just to get by. upon the back of his charizard dressed in casual clothing. the newly graduate pondered on where to go with his life. damian came from a loving home where pokemon were a major part of his life. he had no interest in becoming a trainer like his mother was, and he had little interest in owning the his father's dojo someday.

he wanted to be his own person.

flying upon the back of charizard. the pair would find themselves landing in front of a restaurant, "thanks, rickenbracker." he would recall the charizard. entering the establishment damian would look around. upon entry he would come to be escorted to where the "owner" would be. though, upon first meet, the tall civilian would come to meet by someone that looked to have been younger than he expected. the first thing that came to damian's mind, upon staring at the interviewer, he would say aloud, "small..."

pretending as though he hadn't commented upon the interviewer's build. damian, with a neutral expression, would say, "i'm here to interview."

an unsettled look donned damian's expression. the paraphernalia of a pokemon he had never seen before made him feel unease. it was like being inside the mind of some con goer. his obsession with this weirdly designed pokemon made him wonder if it was specific to some region he'd never been to. he had little information or barely any idea as to what a raikou was, damian didn't even know its name.

it was then he'd ask a question, damian would respond with an answer. "well, a relative of mine said that you were hiring. i recently returned home after graduating college. i need a job and...oh!" his eye shot wide open at the sudden realization of a plushie nearby. standing from his seat, he would quickly walk over to it and began his physical assessment of the plushie's texture. "so...soft..."

oh, right. he was in a interview. continuing to disregard the gym leader, he would continue to answer the question with a neutral tone. "i need a job. i have experience in pokemon battling..." taking a brief pause he'd think for a moment, "oh and i can fight if i have to. i use to work as a bouncer at a club overnight during college. my dad owns a martial arts dojo in this region and my mom is a pokemon instructor at some expensive private school, picked up fighting from him." he'd continue to, while blushing with a soft smile, stroke and feel the raikou plushie's texture.

a tall stature entered through the double front door establishment. a yawn escaped him. the sound of shuffling black slides uttered with each dragging step that would be taken.[break][break]

within the gym he would come to be greeted by the receptionist, "damian belle." his name was given, "here for an interview with the gym leader, i heard he was hiring." the receptionist, slowly nodding, was in awe of the male's towering build and chosen attire. it was as if he was a college student on his way to class in nothing but his pajamas. one would think they'd dress in business casual for an interview, but he didn't look the part.[break][break]

the receptionist would call for the gym leader, "thanks, desk person." a lazy wave was thrown their way as damian made his way to sit down. folding his arms and crossing one leg over the other, he would sleep for a bit while awaiting for the gym leader.
