The job was pretty clear. When Zachary took this job, it was a good way to earn some much needed money, but also learn more about how to be a Gym Leader. He needed more experience, so when he found this job to solve a "Voltorb problem" it seemed interesting. Of course he didn't know how it be like walking near landmines! [break][break] Zachary reached the registered route, Rustboro City. It was no surprise that electric types called this region home. Still, not many would burry into the ground to become living landmines. That was just dangerous. One wrong step and you're history. [break][break] Zachary and Dizzy, his Delphox, soon joined the area, looking at the suspicious monds in the dirt road. "Well... this is unnerving," Zachary said sarcastically, to which Dizzy shared his feelings with a sigh as well. [break][break] Suddenly, the shout of a person grasped their attention. Some man who had appeared out of nowhere, begging for help that someone attacked him. [break][break] "Excuse me?!" the trainer said, baffled. [break][break] It was then that someone threw something from above-- and made one of the Voltorb nearby mad! "Not good!" Zachary shouted and soon got out one of his pokeballs. "Happy, we need your help!"[break][break] Zachary produced out his Mime Jr, Happy! The little mime happily appeared with a cheer, but soon saw the Voltorb about to blow its top. [break][break] "Happy, hurry! Use Light Screen!" Zachary cried. [break][break] No stranger to defense, Happy raised its little arms and produced a protective barrier around them-- just as the Voltorb erupted. [break][break] Ka-BOOOM!! The explosion echoed as soon the dust began to clear-- revealing Zachary, Dizzy, Happy and the stranger protected by the rainbow-veil of energy erected. [break][break] Zachary sighed in relief, getting Happy out just in time. "Note to self. Teach Dizzy a defensive move..." Zachary said, making the Delphox look to Zachary a touch irritated. [break][break] Looking up to where the object came from, Zachary looked to find an open window of a building nearby and there was a white haired man with a cold expression! Zachary glared back up at him. For Kazuya Yoshida , it be plain to see that Zachary was an up and coming Pokemon trainer, league associated. Of course, Zachary had no idea who this person was -- unless he was wearing some lame Rocket insignia. [break][break] Either way Zachary glared up angrily at the man, realizing he could of gotten them all really hurt. "Hey! Who are you and what do you think your doing? You could of gotten all of us blown up!" he shouted. [break][break] The Delphox too voiced his fiery anger, giving a series of barks up at the window. [break][break]

They were nearing the end of their trek, the winding roads leading to the distant area of a nearby town. However-- as they walked, a sudden gust of wind spwet through the field. The tall grass blew violently, and Zachary and Dizzy felt the sting of the wind. The two braced themselves from the violent gust. "What's going on?!" Zachary shouted, his Delphox too giving a bark of dismay. [break][break] It was then that suddenly overhead, a shadow formed. At first Zachary thought it was a storm-- but it soon turned out to be a shape. A very unusual bird shape that flew overhead! Zachary looked up, and surprise turned to awe. [break][break] A MASSIVE SIGILYPH. He would have thought it was a legendary pokemon if he didn't know any better. Even Dizzy was impressed by how big it was, looking more like an airship than a pokemon. [break][break] "No way!" Zachary gasped as he took out his pokedex. [break][break][break][break] It was clearly powerful as its 'eye' locked on to Zachary and Dizzy. A cluster of psychic energy began to form before it-- preparing to fire. [break][break] "Uh oh!" Zachary gasped. He quickly took out a Pokeball. While he wanted Dizzy to battle it, that attack would hit them both. "Happy! We need you!" Zachary cried and threw out a Pokeball. [break][break] The ball opened and from its light, an adorable Mime Jr. appeared. The little mime cheered and soon saw the massive beast above them, along with the incoming PSybeam attack. With a small cry of surprise, Happy soon raised its little arms-- and a veil of rainbow light appeared. Light Screen was used, as the beam came down-- which was soon diffused and shattered to sparkling bits of light against the mime's shield. [break][break] Happy's fast action saved them, but now Zachary knew this would only end in a battle. "Okay, if it wants a fight, let's give it one. Dizzy, your up!" Zachary encouraged. Dizzy gave a positive bark and jumped into the fray next to Happy. He drew his stick and it became alit with flames. [break][break] "Dizzy, use Calm Mind! Power up!" Dizzy focused, its body and eyes glowing with building psychic power as used the move. [break][break] However as it did, power also gathered in SIGILYPH. Sky Attack!. The enemy was preparing for a mighty dive-bomb and probably a strong one as it slowly began to gather energy and loom closer. [break][break] Seeing this, Zachary knew it was coming in soon for a direct attack! "Dizzy, hurry! Use Mystical Fire!!" he shouted. [break][break] With the runic bird in his sights, Dizzy raised his stick and drew a circle. Rainbow flames came from the tip, making a circle in the air. Finally, as the bird began its descent, Dizzy howled and blew out fire from its mouth towards it. [break][break] Rainbow fire shot skyward, and struck the SIGILYPH. It let out a loud groan as it was hit-- and causing it to diverge from its path. [break][break] The massive bird-like pokemon soon fell to the fields, crashing down and sliding, leaving a massive trench in its wake. Zachary quickly ran towards it, seeing it in its weakened state. [break][break] This was his chance. "Alright! You're MINE SIGILYPH!" Zachary shouted and threw a Pokeball towards it. [break][break] The ball hit its back, being such a large target. In that moment, the ball opened and its body glowed-- transformed into energy. It took several seconds for its massive size to be contained as it was collected and sucked into the Pokeball. [break][break] It wobbled, showing some resistance. A pause was in the air as Happy and Dizzy joined him, seeing the ball wobble. Finally, it stopped, securing the beast. [break][break] A sigh of relief came from Zachary, and he flopped to the ground, having been exhausted. [break][break] Mimicking him, Happy did the same on the grass, leaving Delphox to look at them both with a puzzled face. [break][break] "That was scary... but so worth it..." Zachary sighed, feeling tired from the journey and the battle. [break][break] "Mimi..." Happy chirped. [break][break] After a moment's rest, Zachary got up and retrieved the new Pokemon. With it in hand, he slowly got to his senses and returned to his partner Pokemon. All squred away, they headed on to the end of the road and to the next town...[break][break]

"Wait-- the ELITE FOUR THEMSELVES evaluate? Oh wow... but that's okay! Haha... no pressure," Zachary said with amazement, surprise, and a touch of nervousness to learn that the four region champions would do evaluations too. Despite what he said, he had some reason for pressure. [break][break] Dizzy the Delphox sighed, realizing Zachary got all flustered at the mention of the Elite Four. The Delphox only shrugged, knowing his trainer was rather excitable at times. Especially with bugs... [break][break] Shaking off the details of the Elite Four, Zachary listened at the details of what it took to be a Gym Leader. How to evaluate other trainers, identify their strengths and weaknesses for their own education and benefit-- and also one's self as well. A lot of self reflection and learning was needed even for any gym leader. More so, badges were the mark of accomplishment and goals for a trainer, acting to show one's skill. While a simple trophy to earn them required great skill and knowledge, and it was up to the Gym Leader to evaluate that. Everyone kept growing. In reflection Zachary soon reached into his pocket, and took out the deck of Tarot Cards he always carried. The mysterious logo on the back and the symbols they meant-- it helped him grow too. He too, had to grow and he knew his limits. Though his desire to be a gym leader was strong, he wanted to continue his growth too. [break][break] But now the hammer was brought down as it was time to battle! A gulp came from Zachary, but any nervousness faded when Dizzy gave an excited bark and drew his stick out for a fight. The Fox gave Zachary a confident glance, showing he was ready to go. Zachary smiled and gave his Delphox a pet. "Alright, let's get started!" Zachary said, having wanted to battle Josh for some time now! [break][break] Giving a moment to think, Zachary decided on what he wanted to do. "How about a 3-on-3 single battle. First to knock-out the 3 remaining ones wins? " he asked. [break][break] Zachary had to wonder what the arena that Josh had would look like. He seen enough arenas in person and in videos, so he wondered if Josh's pokemon arena was any different? He seemed like someone who did things differently after all. [break][break]

Wrrrrish! [break][break] The whoosh and rush of Teleport was always fun for him as he felt himself transported to the areas around Mt. Pyre. It was one of the few places he knew to find Psychic and Ghost Pokemon. He appeared there, with Dizzy, his Delphox companion-- and the one who teleported him. His Kadabra-- Tarot. Kadabra was kind enough to teleport them back to the areas of this route-- though not usually for free. [break][break] Further, perched on Zachary's shoulder was his loving bird-- a Hoothoot he named Nyx. The little bird enjoyed being perched on her friendly trainer's shoulder. [break][break] "Thanks for the ride, Taro---" [break][break] WACK!! The Kadabra did what it usually did whenever it got the chance. Bonking Zachary on the head with its silver spoon. Hoothoot gave an angry series of cries, upset the Kadabra would hit its trainer. Tarot didn't respond to it, and in the end, even Dizzy, the Delphox who voiced his disapproval the most-- just sighed, knowing this would happen. [break][break] Rubbing his head and getting the message, Zachary took out Tarot's Pokeball and recalled the Kadabra, allowing it to rest after using its energy to teleport them this far. [break][break] The place was as overcast as ever, showing a rather gloomy atmosphere. [break][break] A chill was in the air, making Dizzy the Delphox' fur shiver, and so did Zachary as he tugged up his coat around him. [break][break] "Hopefully the weather isn't as bad as it looks," Zachary said, looking at the overcast sky. He knew how much Dizzy hated the rain too. [break][break] Still, he enjoyed going to explore the surrounding areas to find Pokemon he liked, to make new friends, and have new adventures in this mysterious place. And who knew what else-- or who else was around here. [break][break]

As they moved through the winding road, the movement of something caught both their attention. A strange osterage-- and soon Zachary recognized it. A Espathra--a bird-like psychic type. Zachary had one named Cleo, and though he hesitated to use her in battles yet, he had to admit the bird was quite beautiful. "Wow, Dizzy look at that? She's pretty regal, isn't she?" Zachary said. He wasn't interested in battling or catching it, but looked on in interest to see the bird graze along. Dizzy gave a happy bark at the sight of the bird. [break][break]The two paused on their trip to watch as the bird grazed, eating some flowers it liked as it moved and craned around. Zachary, tempted, took out his phone and took a picture of it. One of the thrills he had was taking pictures of these pokemon in their natural environment. It was similar to the Safari Zone. He snapped a few pictures, intending to share it with friends. [break][break] Eventually, the bird took notice to Zachary and Dizzy in the distance. It gazed at them for a moment, then after with its tummy full and not wanting to stick around, the bird took off running into the tall grass again, wary of the human presence. [break][break] Zachary let out a breath, sad to see it go but glad he got some photos. The two continued back on the road to the next town... [break][break]

Something shiny caught their attention, lying on the side of the road. Curious, Dizzy approached the strange metal plate on the ground. It was almost like a face with an odd shape as Dizzy picked it up, seeing how shiny it was. [break][break] It was then suddenly, the strange disk jumped in the fox's paws. Alarmed by the fire type, the Bronzor tore free from the pokemon's paws. With a loud metallic cry, the floating piece of metal flew off back into the tall grass, vanishing from view. [break][break] Dizzy looked dumbfounded, not realizing it was a Pokemon too. EVen Zachary was surprised by it. "Don't take it personally, Dizzy. Maybe it was just shy." he said, trying hard not to laugh. [break][break] Dizzy just grumbled, feeling silly it didn't know it was a pokemon[break][break]

Zachary got a general idea for the "Rehab" center based on the staff only areas on the map. All of them, including his Pokemon walked with Lam as he asked him questions. "Yeah, I'm pretty dedicated as a Psychic Pokemon trainer, but I train other types too. I do love finding Pokemon who can use psychic techniques even if their types are not related. " Zachary explained, "I love the mystery and magic that they command or represent. They're really cool!" Zachary said with pride of his pokemon. Especially his Delphox that walked beside them. [break][break] As they walked, Zachary did appreciate meeting another enthusiastic trainer like him. All the while as they walked, Happy the Mime Jr continued to mimic Psyduck, which made the Delphox just sigh at his silly friend. [break][break] They soon reached the area that was for Rehab center. They knocked on the door and entered. [break][break]"Excuse me? is someone here? " Zachary asked, checking inside. [break][break] The inside was a laboratory of sorts, with several tanks too-- some that were kept indoors, another part that seemed to lead outside. As they entered, they soon found a lab technician, wearing rather thick glasses. [break][break]"Oh hello there. How can I help you?" the man asked, adjusting his glasses, and spying the pokemon with him. "My that is quite an array of Pokemon you have there. Are you both trainers?" he asked. [break][break]

All the news about the other gyms and their leaders was very informative to Zachary. He didn't know all of them but it was fun to see that Elise Calcifet was also running her own. It was hard to imagine due to her being so busy with her royal duties and family responsibilities. Especially now... [break][break] It was fun to learn what kind of challenges were there-- and not just about battling. It was far more in depth with that. If Zachary wanted to form his own gym, he was going to have to give serious thought how he would do it all. [break][break] It was then that he was given the options: To battle and race. However, only one could count to a badge. If he failed one challenge for a badge, he'd have to wait over a month to challenge him again for it. Zachary finally paused the maelstrom of thoughts in his head, took a deep breath and began to think. His hand was pursed upon his chin as he thought, giving careful consideration to what he wanted to do. All the while, Dizzy cocked his head to his trainer, wondering what he wanted to do. [break][break] After some time, Zachary stopped and looked to Josh with more determination than he had before. "I do want to battle you-- but I will do so as an unofficial challenge," Zachary said. "I want you to really assess me for my potential as a Gym Leader at the moment. It is something I really care about and would appreciate your guidance with it. This way you can gauge my potential, especially for the minor league at least. "Zachary explained, honestly wanting to learn more how he himself could become a Gym Leader. Dizzy looked pleased, glad that Zachary was giving it serious thought. [break][break] "After that, we can do the nontraditional challenge you want for the badge. While I do want to be a Gym Leader too, I also want to still rank up in the league, and earning badges is the only way to earn proper experience. So, that's it. Even so, I hope to continue growing in the league even as a Gym Leader. " Zachary explained, hoping to get his point across. Despite anything, getting the badges and challenging the best trainers, the Elite Four and so on-- was every trainer's goal to prove their skills. Zachary was no exception. [break][break]

Zachary and Dizzy followed the next path that led to Rustboro city. While not an ideal place for Zachary due to the industrial setting there, it was a major hub for pokemon gear and shops. He could of taken a train but he heard rumors of fun and interesting Pokemon who would frequent this area. The psychic trainer and his Delphox continued on their way, taking in the weather, the feeling of the ground beneith their feet and the adventures that were ahead of them...  [break][break] Dizzy would walk along with his stick in hand, practicing his waving of it as if he was trying to cast so0me kind of crazy spell. Zachary just chuckled as he saw his foxy friend play. It was always funny.
