Thread Summary: Arashi has a most pleasant encounter in a car scrapyard with a man who has a Copperajah, and they take care of destroying a few cars for the scrapyard owner in the process.

Arashi knew that Fu, his Hitmontop, was fast.

But compared to this one in front of him? He was pretty sure the aging Pokémon would get pummeled in an outright fight with the Hitmonlee!

The other Pokémon had moved in so fast, he barely had time to blink and register as the first attack hit right home, causing the Salazzle to shriek out of surprise before being forced back a considerable distance. Wow. Talk about hitstun right there, she was caught completely off-guard! He thought as the Salazzle began to hiss at the Hitmonlee, spitting mad that it was caught right off-guard.

“Okay, let’s see if we can hit him. Get another Nasty Plot ready. After that, try to catch it with a Flamethrower attack!” he continued, backing up in order to allow the Salazzle more room to maneuver.

A second glint of malicious mischief crossed her mind, before she kept her beady eyes on the Hitmonlee. After a few moments, she inhaled… and released a strong stream of flames.

Where was it going? She had no idea. All she knew was to throw the attack out right in front of her.

Or was he coming in from the side?!

She had no clue!

“If it works, it works. I’m not going to be picky anyway, so…” he agreed with a nod, before placing his arms behind his head as he followed the older man through the area. They would eventually come to a wide-enough space that had just enough obstacles to make this interesting, before he nodded in his Salazzle’s direction.

The reptilian Pokémon returned the gesture before standing in front of her capable (if somewhat short) human companion and waited for the match to begin. Arashi wasn’t sure if this was just a sparring match or if this was going to be an all-out battle, so it was better safe than sorry!

“Let me start us off, then. Luxu! Get ready with a Nasty Plot, and hold the line! Don’t take your eyes off the other Pokémon, track him with your sense of smell if you have to,” he began, before a rather nasty-looking glimmer was seen in the Salazzle’s eyes.

He then waited for the other to move forward, seeing as the Hitmonlee was standing ready.

“I didn’t know you were practicing with a Pokémon, sorry about that,” he apologized once more. “Are you sure you’re not going to need ice or anything for the bruises?” he asked once more. He was totally ready to go find an ice pack and come back here so he could ease the older man’s discomfort.

A few moments later he was asked if he wanted to battle. Is it a practice battle? Or are we going all out? He wondered quietly as he went through the options he had with him. Right now, he was carrying his usual team, and wondered if there would be any that would be a good match for the Hitmonlee in front of them.

“Eh, sure, why not?” he nodded, stretching his arms over his head. “Been meaning to give Luxu some practice anyway…” he trailed off, reaching into his pockets and pulling out a Dusk Ball. Popping it to full size, he then watched as the beam of red light transformed into a Salazzle, who began looking around curiously and scenting the air.

“Yeah, Luxu… this is for real. I know I haven’t practiced with you yet so… no hard feelings?” he asked the female reptilian Pokémon, who was now making nice eyes at the Hitmonlee before turning to her companion with a surprised look.

“Come on, bump with me if you agree,” he gestured, holding out his right arm in a fist-bump gesture. Confused, the Salazzle then took a walk toward where he was, looking how his hand had been closed up and eventually mimicking it and tapping her closed fist against Arashi’s hand.

“She says she’s game. Where do we battle?”

“Whoa! What the fuck, are you alright?!” he exclaimed as he quickly rushed over after witnessing what had happened—Asher had gotten decked, quite literally, by the Fighting-type that accompanied him.

“Is there anything broken?!” he exclaimed as he crouched down before looking between him and the Pokémon that was now trying not to go off the rails, so to speak.

“Sorry, sorry, it was my bad,” he explained as he sheepishly scratched the back of his head. “You live around here?” he asked the man as he cast another glance around the area. Sure, it wasn’t the best part of Slateport, but he always thought Asher had a nice place in Petalburg where they had initially encountered each other.

The Fighting-type had frame advantage there, that’s for sure. Imagine what would’ve happened if I hadn’t distracted him… crap, he thought to himself as he tried to help calm down the Hitmonlee. He had a derivative of this Pokémon, a very stern Hitmontop named Fu—who was an absolute beast in battle. Then again…

“Do you need ice or something? I can get some for you,” he offered.

The first thing the Golurk had sighted was a small bird, flying through the updrafts.

Even Arashi didn’t’ have the heart to strafe it out of the skies. The two observed quietly as the Tailow soared past them, and he then instinctively pat the Golurk’s shoulder.

“No, no need. We don’t go after the little ones. We let them grow, okay?” he said to the sentient golem, who gave a grating noise of inquiry before the head nodded slightly in approval. “Let’s keep going. I’m pretty sure we’ll be able to find something we can definitely make good use out of around here.”

Off the two went further out along the water route they were traversing at the moment.

Meanwhile, Arashi had taken to prowling around the Outskirts of Slateport, hoping that he could be able to find something that he could trade off for some extra money.

He did have a little left, but it was important that he hung onto it as much as possible because he didn’t know when he would be able to get money again after that quick car demolition thing.

I wonder if I can go do it again? It’s pretty lucrative, to say the least, he thought with a grin on his face as he was now looking for something—in fact, anything he could bring to a nearby pawnshop in order to get some additional money.

Ugh. He hadn’t eaten in a while, so…

Looking around, he noticed that there was someone—awfully familiar—who was watching a Pokémon practicing something that looked like a cross-up maneuver. Although the Pokémon was different, he was pretty certain he’d seen this person’s mug before—

“Is that you, Asher?” he called out, waving a hand in greeting at the older man.

Ooh, did he just unintentionally burn the older man with him? He couldn’t believe it.

Either way, he was told to do away with the formalities, at least when they were out here. The hitstun from his earlier, well, ‘show of respect’ at least went off well with Asher! Looking over to where his Steelix was busy pulverizing the remains of the car he had decided to focus his attention to, he knew that one of his Pokémon had gotten all the rage out for that particular day, at least.

“And the same to you, the pleasure is all mine,” he agreed, meeting the other’s handshake with the same gesture of his own. Now that his Steelix was pretty worn out, he knew it was time for the hulking snake to take a rest.

“I think we’re going to see each other again—I don’t know how soon, though. Call it an educated guess?” he ended with a grin on his face as he recalled the Steelix to let Alex take a good rest after tiring himself out today.

Okay so that actually sorta kinda made sense, because let’s face it, since you mentioned that he is a teacher… maybe he can give this wayward son of mine a little direction? Arashi is practically directionless (has been all his life) and so he’s currently with Rocket (but of course nobody knows that) since they give him food and shelter.

He is a very troubled soul so maybe someone with an equally… weird sense of morality can understand why he chose to cast his lot with them instead of the League? (and besides, maybe he can learn a thing or two from the ‘teach, if you know what I mean)

Maybe it was because they were both enjoying smashing the cars so much they had forgotten to introduce themselves while they were at it!

At least the car alarm that was coming from the wrecked pile that his Steelix was manhandling was done in now. Who knew that car alarms had an annoying, tiny little hitbox within the stupid frame?

Breathing a sigh of relief, he stretched his arms above his head. “In case you missed it—I’m Arashi. Nice to finally put a name to the face… Mister Asher?” he tried.

Well, if he was right the man was… much older than he was. Of course he had to treat him with some respect. Although he wasn’t sure how Asher was going to take it. Either way, the Steelix then continued to wiggle around like an overexcited ‘puppy’ (if you could call him that) as he continued to squish and shred another car that was right underneath the blue one he’d just destroyed moments ago.
