Harvesting my Rabuta Berry for that 1 Infamy for Adam

”Yeah sure we can rest.” Adam replied. He didn’t really need to take a break and honestly, the trek down was going to be extremely easy but he supposed Kyle earned it.

Instead of taking a seat like Kyle, Adam instead pick some pebbles off the ground and began tossing them down the path they just climbed, watching them skip down the mountain.

”Only a couple of minutes though, we’ve got to get back down before nightfall.” Adam said, looking up to the sky and noticing the sun’s position.

”Don’t want to be out here and some nasty Pokémon come out looking to make us a snack.” He added, looking over to Kyle and smirking.

”Because they’d definitely go for the thicker one of the two of us.” The ranger teased.

”Oh hey that’s awesome to hear that the little guy is getting all big and strong!” Adam smiled at the news. ”And clearly you’re training has been going well.” He added as he closed the toolbox and picked it up.

”Okay, okay! Enough with the small chit chat! We’ve got some snakes to wrangle!” And with that the man started to march towards the apartment. Once there Adam went to go knock on the door and then turn to give some advice to Iris before they started but almost as soon as he turned to speak the door flew open and the ranger was dragged into the home.

There was a lot of panic and chaos, Adam only able to barely catch the person’s words as they dragged them in front of a door and then went to go hide behind something.

So the snakes were in here right? At least that’s what Adam could gather and that this was a bathroom. How they managed to get in here Adam didn’t want to ask but they’d have to manage to get them out. Hopefully, Iris had managed to follow the chaos and made her way over here.

”Hey you got any mons on you that’d help? A lot of mine are a bit big to be throwing out in here?” Adam would ask as he shifted through the earlier mentioned toolbox.

Before any reply could really be given the bathroom door would fling open and a Sandaconda dropped from the doorway onto the ground, Adam only barely managing to avoid the massive Pokémon.

And it wasn’t alone, a horde of Silicobra came slithering out of the room as well and began to expand into the apartment.

”Don’t let any of them get away!” He shouted, scrambling to try and do something.

A simple hike up the mountain wasn’t going to change Kyle all that much but at least from this little display there would be moments that the elite four member found himself pushing to make it to the goal.

Maybe that’s all he needed, was for someone to show him where the goal was and he’d be more eager to move. Adam shook his head to shoo his thoughts. That was enough theorizing on how to be someone else’s life coach. And he was bad at it anyway, almost having laughed at Kyle lamenting on how he didn’t last long as a ranger.

Once they reached the top Adam admired the sight, taking in a deep breath.

”This is nice.” He said after exhaling. However, that moment of peace quickly turned to one of laughter, the reason being Kyle’s question and Adam not being prepared for that despite thinking he should have been.

”Come on man! Going back down is part of the fun!” He was sure that response wasn’t great for Kyle so he added to it.

”And besides, I didn’t bring one either.”

”Alright let’s double-check and make sure we have everything we’ll need.” Adam said to his rookie ranger, looking down at the boxes they had. There were many reports of snake Pokémon that are normally residing in the dessert nearby managing to find their way into Mauville.

It was their job to make sure they were safely relocated back to their homes all safe and sound. The only problem was the snakes were pretty difficult tracking down and they could be a bit tricky to deal with especially seeing that most of them would probably be scared and defensive.

To help, Ranger HQ gave them some supplies to make things a bit easier. Some nets, Pokéballs, bait, all the things that they would need in order to capture the snakes safely without causing much of a fuss.

”We’ll start with their first sighting which was this apartment right here. Hopefully, they’re all still here and we can get this done quickly.” Adam added, opening the toolboxes they had and counting the tools within.

”All that aside, it’s been a while! How’ve you been?” He’d like to have some small talk as they headed to the apartment.

Kyle’s comeback almost made Adam trip and fall on his face, that response felt so random. ”Well you’ll be seeing a lot of it, I guess?” How the hell was someone supposed to respond to that?

The ranger wouldn’t dwell on the comment; he might actually bust his ass falling over if he did. Though it was nice to see Kyle actually put some more effort into keeping up. Affirming Adam's assumption that if Kyle just tried he'd be able to.

They hadn’t talked much about the younger male’s rise to Elite Four but Adam had this thought in his head that somehow Kyle managed to half-ass his way all the way to the top. But knowing Lopez and how he manages to pull shit off that was probably not far off.

”Uh that’s kind of the point there buddy.” Adam shook his head.

”Besides a park is boring as hell! This is much better exercise and you get a taste of ranger life.” Though this was probably part of the reason why one of them was a ranger and the other wasn’t.

Adam laughed as he shook his head, Kyle was lucky they were young or he’d probably be fat by now. He couldn’t judge Lopez that much. Comparing who Adam is today to whom he was a couple of years ago and his younger self would probably laugh at how lazy he’s gotten.

So he’d cut him some slack but still did Kyle want to be the Ice Cream Elite Four member?

Adam would keep that thought to himself, Kyle might actually think that didn’t sound too bad.

Adam supposed he could have a team of ice types, a couple of the Vanillite line in his team.

Someone has definitely done that and if they beat anyone with that team the loser should feel really ashamed about it. He was thinking way too much about this.

”Alright I’ll take you up on that but you can’t have any. I actually haven’t had any Verdanturf ice cream before.” Adam called back.

”Unless you can manage to keep up the pace that is, cause you can do better than just staring at the back of my head the entire time.”

Adam surely said what he said but once he thought it through he regretted it almost instantly afterwards. But it was too late, Kyle had given the order and his mutts were getting ready to attack.

”Wait wait wait wait! Do they even know how to aim right?!” Adam waved his hands in front of his body, a futile attempt to get Kyle to reconsider before he fired.

”I don’t want to end up dead! Hold up a sec-“ The Hyper Beams were fired but luckily, and by the grace of god, Adam somehow managed to survive. Though as Adam looked back it didn’t seem like his attacker did, which the sight terrified him, that could have been him!

”Oh the one hand thanks but could have no chosen any other way of doing that! You could’ve killed me!” Adam yelled as he picked himself up off the ground.

During his yelling, he noticed something was odd or well it wasn’t supposed to be odd but the forest layout looked actually different. ”We’re free!” He exclaimed.

”Let’s hurry and get the hell out of here, man.”

A hike like this was a common affair for a Ranger like Adam but it was a nice change of pace to have someone he actually knows with him. And despite all the whining that the other person was doing Adam was having a good time.

It was good for them to get out, get some fresh air and exercise, and besides what else was Kyle even really doing anyway?

”Excellent idea! We should use Pokémon every time we want to go somewhere. They’ll never be a time when we might not have certain mon for the job on hand, right?” Adam shrugged before then waving a hand dismissively as if to shoo away the very thought.

”C’mon if you can whine as much as you do you can move faster, let’s go! All this exercise will be good for you E4 boy.” He added, taking a moment to look the other male over.

”You’re starting to look a little chubby at the sides. Eating too much ice cream?”
