"well if you insist. dervish hit them with earth power! starmie use swift!" he was going to show her that he was going for the win. and not just the win but an absolute victory and earn that next badge.

dervish began stomping like mad as he roared out, the ground underneath him beginning to crack and the cracks only started to slither their way towards the castform. as they did they began to glow and in the next instant sharp spires of earth shot out from inside the cracks ready to skewer the weather pokemon. starmie's attack was much less brutal in a way, its gem began to glow a bright white before a flurry of shooting stars exploded out, all of them aiming to strike at both stormy's pokemon in a hot pursuit.

    +dervish used earth power on sol
    +starmie used swift on both sol and wadjet

the stinging on his forehead was a reminder that no one really won with a headbutt. shinra would like to say otherwise in this case. seeing the other guy reel back in audible pain much greater than his was enough to put a smirk on his face. watching him get serious and shout at the wrestler to come at him was more than enough to turn it from a smirk to a savage grin. this guy really gets it.

"well you asked for it!"

shinra shot forward in a charge at noah. his shoulder was lowered as he aimed to ram his whole body into him with a shoulder check. his mind was flipping between wanting to give this guy an actual good sportsmanlike challenge or completely break him. and he was leaning hard in wanting to see this guy koed on the mat.

was he really that obvious? well he was coming into a gym regarded for flaming battles with a water and ground type. surely even the most novice of trainers would do the same thing wouldn't they? maybe he was just letting her words get to him. its alright, he'll beat them out of his head and into her ground as he wins this fight.

"only the best kind of challenge for someone like you. just don't think i'll let you think your fighting some common fourth rate trainer however. i am aiming to win." he gestured the two pokemon to get onto the field and let out their own roars (or bleeps in starmie's case) of readiness. "so what's the rule, challengers got the first move? or ladies first?" his hand swept out towards the field and her and an inviting smile accompanied him, an invitation to let her know that he was ready for whatever she threw at him.

the knee would make contact with shinra's gut but if noah was hoping that it would even do anything then he was sorely mistaken. the wrestler could see that moving coming a mile away and he steeled his stomach just enough to take the knee in stride. of course everyone knows that wrestling is fake so everyone sort of sold the hit like it actually hurt them, a practice that shinra was using as he faked doubling over so that he could catch the incoming fist. he raised his head and caught the fist in his larger hand and gave the other guy a cocky smirk before aiming to slam his forehead against noah's in a brutal headbutt and let him drop if it connected. finally being hardheaded would pay off!

so she understood! sounded like she did the same sort of thing that shinra did, so they were kindred spirits in camping! that much shinra could understand at the very least. what he couldn't understand what she was talking about some camp rule. she looked young yeah but "camp annie"? "what the heck is camp annie anyway? didn't think hoenn had camps around here. everyone just talks about making secret bases or something." he stuffed his face with another mouthful of grilled slowpoke tail as his pokemon were finishing their own meal.

"not that that isn't a bad rule. can't really do anything on an empty stomach after all. speaking of which i think...we might have a few leftovers. let's hope we don't attract any wildlife huh? think your guys could take on an angry ursaring?" he gave a smirk as he suddenly paused mid bite as the sound of rustling foliage caught his attention before disappearing. did he just curse their luck like that? well between the both of them they could probably take an ursaring. or an army of teddiursa. the latter was probably more dangerous due to the cute factor. "does camp annie have any rules about confronting the wildlife by the way?"

"you're...the gym leader." at first he was getting excited as caius approached him and greeted him in a manner befitting of two dudes with a love of fighting and battling. however his news about him being the gym leader not really killed his excitement but filled him with a sense of shock and awe. it took a moment for it to settle in his brain before he returned the grin with is own grin of determination. "well good for you. and don't worry, i'll be sure to give you another good whalloping and i'll be walking away with that badge, and this guy is going to help me out." taking out a pokeball he let out his new buddy, a chestnaught that started flexing once it was out of the ball to show off its muscles. "hope your a better trainer than you are a wrestler."

shinra smirked at stormy's words. "oh don't worry. i'll be sure to make it a good one. i'm really serious about beating all the gym leaders out there y'know. and your nothing but another stepping stone little stormy." reaching into his pockets he produced two pokeballs and opened them up, releasing his starmie and nidoking. a veteran and a newbie of his team, probably a perfect match for this battle if she was looking to see how he could do with cooperation. plus these two were probably the best ones to deal with a gym leader who put their gym in a very hot and humid place. "let me just say this, tag team matches are always something i wanted to do, so this'll be good practice."

"see that's why you go out and camp with your pokemon. they can keep you safe from any strays that come out during the night. or you could lay out some traps or something. never really had any trouble with wild pokemon coming near me but i guess i've just been lucky that way." he wouldn't lie and said his camping trips were easy but he never did really run into wild pokemon. he knew where a lot of common areas they might frequent where one would set up camp so he generally avoided such areas.

the topic of camping would have to wait as the group managed to come into view of the town and the pace started to pick up as they passed the sign saying they were now near fallabor. "yeah, drop him off at the center. sure they could fix his sack for him there." not that he knew of any pokemon center that had sewing supplies nearby but delibird were sort of the unofficial mascots of postal service, it would make sense that they were given extra special care of in centers.

as they made their way to the center shinra stopped the little sleigh and let the delibird disembark as he set the presents together in one pile. "you go on ahead with our little buddy right there, i'ma help sort out all these gifts. i'd say we did a pretty good job." the delibird shot him a glare in which shinra did his best to avert his gaze away from it. "ok so we did an ok job. we still did it didn't we?"

"wait it was your idea to have it fly around with that? wow..." he was trying to suppress laughing about that truth. and he was failing pretty badly. to think that something like that could backfire on her, of course he was kind of hoping she wasn't seeing it as a bad thing that it ended up making the two of them kiss. that would make the rest of this conversation pretty awkward. "well hopefully it doesn't get into any more trouble-"

the screaming of an avalanche cut his talk short as his head snapped towards the group of people helping dig their way out of this mess. "uh...we should...probably help yeah? Dante! Get over there! He spent no time in sending his large fire cat towards the snow to use its flames to try and melt the way through. "you think yoru little chandelier can help out too? maybe give everyone some light?"

shinra grimaced as he watched the little fluff bug take a tail to its face and send it rolling back to his feet. this snake was one top foe, well tough for the venonat anyway, and shinra couldn't stand to really watch any longer. "ok...hit it with a poison fang, i got an idea." he said as he bent down to it and whispered into its antennae. the bug chirped before giving charge which drew serviper's attention. as it did shinra whipped out a pokeball and tossed it at the distracted snake. that out to put an end to this battle.
