“Sing.”

The elite four member might expect the water-type to lull his pokemon into a deep slumber, but such a thing fails to occur. Instead, the water-type accepts its fate of being poisoned by the TOXIC by standing still, only to open its mouth release a beam of bright, pink heart-shaped waves at the Mightyena.

The DISARMING VOICE is late. It's not possible for it to stop the fate that awaits Katherine’s Milotic, but it might just slow the dark-type's inevitable approach.

The dose of sand causes the singing to cease, forcing the Milotic to shut their lips in order to avoid having golden grains stuck inside their mouth.

The serpent sways their head in order to dispose of whatever remained of the shimmering substance. One of Milotic’s aqua rings rippled with energy, an echo that both heals the Pokemon and conjures a mystical wave of water, filling the arena to the brim as it aims at the Mightyena.

SURF is used in order to keep the dark-type at bay, which remains the priority of both Katherine and her chosen pokemon.

As repetitive as it might have been, Katherine makes no effort in asking her Milotic to change their tactic. Instead, she simply offers a nod for the serpent to interpret. It waits just long enough for the canine’s barrier to shatter, and then, a second SURF comes to life.

It gushes forward ferociously, caring little about whether if it might ruin the decor inside the arena. These mirrors were reinforced, sure, but who knows how many large-scale attacks they could sustain before shattering?

The poison seeps deeper, draining more of Serenity’s health. The AQUA RING proves useful in delaying its effects, but there’s no denying that these small amounts of damage were adding up and beginning to affect the gym leader’s partner.

One wet Mightyena was bad enough, but a pack of them?

It was filthy, and it managed to draw a frown upon the woman’s expression. She’s less than pleased with this sight. The water in the room is slowly drained thanks to the same anime logic that supplied Kyle’s dog with sand.

“You don’t need to see it, Serenity. It can still hear you.”

Milotic cranes her neck upwards before beginning to sing once more, her DISARMING VOICE echoing within the room. The vocal assault carries a punch, however, things turn grim sooner than Kat would’ve expected.

The poison pulses within her water-type’s body, causing the singing to cease. It leaves an opening for Kyle and his partner to finally land an attack.

Despite the damage that Milotic sustains, both the Mightyena and the trainer should keep their guard up. After all, the water-type’s CUTE CHARM ensures that direct contact with it is bound to cause a brief infatuation, or at the very least, spur some doubt within the feline.

“Don’t let it stay close to you!”

And within that moment, should Serenity be allowed to open her mouth, a blast of wind would escape through her lips. A TWISTER in the making, the move is meant to push the dog off of her.

Whether if the Milotic is successful with her actions matters little, though, for the poison finally pulses a final time before she succumbs to the pain. The serpent falls, faints and then meets the cold mirrored floor.

“..Oh.” It’s not what Katherine had expected, but she did know that the AQUA RING would only last for so long. Kyle’s TOXIC was superior to their healing.

“Pretty good.” A smile crosses the woman’s lips before she recalls her pokemon and fishes for a badge in her bag, “I still don’t understand your fascination with these pokemon, but you’re a fine trainer, Kyle.”

He didn’t need to hear this, she was sure, but she had a certain act to uphold within this facility. She had to be the kind, always excited to meet a new challenger, educational gym leader that Walsh expected her to be. She was only doing it because her new boss was cute. Well, that and her new salary.

“Enjoy adding it to your collection.” Katherine says and then tosses him the badge.
