The obvious answer is no. They're tired, sore, and pushing themselves beyond for an arbitrary reward. Rank one only means so much when there isn't an incentive to go that much further beyond. Unfortunately, no one else is as competitive as Hoenn's number one overachiever.

At least Devon never put their hand into the Pokethalon jar. For that he's thankful. Their complacency shall be his own reward.

His Smeargle has long taped bandages around its feet. It makes it easier for it to run once the TAILWIND kicks in. Now if only it could get over its MOODINESS.

Katherine only shoots him a wave to confirm that she was indeed still here and somewhat ready (or at least willing) to participate in another race. Belladona seemed quite tired herself, but she wasn't willing to give up before reaching her desired rank.

The same process is repeated: AGILITY is executed, and the bug-type's inherent SPEED BOOST pushes it further. With the addition of the Tailwind, reaching high speed is no more than a child's game.

Galehault had like an excess of pent-up energy and he wanted to tire the Scolipede out so… there we have it. He was back, Lars was back.

Oh, Arceus.

Without even waiting for him the Scolipede shot off like a cannon, Agility fueling its Speed Boost madness. Of course, he wasn’t aware of the Tailwind that made him reach top speed right from the start so there…was that.

The only factor you can control is your own speed. So when they falter, Smeargle accepts it as a bad roll of the dice and continues onward.

There's something weird about watching the little beagle tear up the track.
