The throaty rumble of a croaking pokemon woke him from his near-comatose state.

He was only a little startled at first; the Croagunk staring at him so intently yet blank. There wasn't a synonym for 'creepy' that fit any better. Just barely able to put the pieces together he remembered saying out loud he needed to get to a hospital or healing center before the wooziness got too strong for him keep awake.

He remembered the pokéball he'd thrown at the Croagunk and how it seemed to wobble for an eternity. He passed out before the 'ping' of capture went off but the nurses had filled him in that his newest capture brought him to the pokemon healing center straightaway, even if it had been a little rough with his body.


"Well you were worth the trouble weren't you." Its creepy stare became a warm smile as it rubbed the back of it's head with its froggy nubs.

A glutton for punishment; within the hour Senon and his Croagunk were back on the outskirts of Slateport. This time as fresh partners rather than stank strangers. As per usual he was somewhere between 'minding his own business' and 'looking for trouble' seemingly, his new poison-type was the same.

The man and the frog found reason to freeze when a snake poké slithered past them, only to notice them partway and change its course. Senon had been inactive for so long he couldn't place if all the wild ones of Hoenn were so aggressive or it was something about Slateport in particular that made the wild pokémon refuse to flee.

In reality it was probably the fact they were poison-types that made Croagunk and this Siviper attack first and (not) ask questions later. Still, he wasn't so out-of-practice that he forgot the first step in wild pokémon engagement; type assessing. "Poison tanks Fighting. Poison moots Poison." Stroking the stubble on his chin he offered his hot take. "You're not the right one to fight this time."

His Toxic Mouth counterpart crossed his arms and turned his head away. "Fine, TOXIC!" As if he couldn't wait for a fight the frog did the unthinkable biting down the Seviper as hard as he could; soliciting a loud hiss out of the snake and inducting poison into it.

Seviper used IRON TAIL; lowering Croagunk's defense.

The steeled slap from its tail sent Croagunk crashing into a box of crates. Emerging with its body intact but its pride brusied its croak seemed to almost plead with its new trainer not to take it out of the fight. "Sorry. You're done." With a frown it began to stomp and blow steam at its own failure. "Don't pout." A red beam called the frog back to its pokéball. Pulling the third ball from his hip he threw it to the street before it bounced back to his hand; Ninju healed from the last fight and ready to take down another poison-type.

Seviper used COIL; raising its attack and defense!

A snake coiling up and pouncing to strike was a universal sign of caution to all mammals. When pokémon used defense and attack enhancing moves they started glowing or gained an aura or other prominent visuals, this Seviper was no exception. "That's alarming." His bug needed a translation. "Use DIG!"

Seviper used GLARE; its attack missed.

Erupting from the earth Ninju crashed into the serpent letting his exoskeleton do most of the work. The attack hit and the poison had done a little extra damage but the snake wasn't done yet. They needed to wear it down a little more.

Seviper used POISON JAB; Ninju was poisoned!

Ninju's only attack moves DIG and METAL CLAW would likely knock-out the wild pokémon. The best bet for capture was to stall for time and let the poison whittle it's will down "MUD-SLAP!" With a slap to the ground the mud was accurately splashed into the face of the agitated reptile lowering it accuracy.

Seviper used POISON JAB; its attack missed!

With the effects of TOXIC eating away in small doses at what health the stray poison-type had left Senon readied his pokéball.

"One more time Ninju, MUD-SLAP!" With even less fight in it than it had before the snake hissed in a rage at the sludge smacked into its face. With its body wobbling in a spastic manner akin to a seizure he throw his pokéball before it succumb to the combined effects of the damage and frog poison done to it.

Crimsen threw a pokéball!
Crimsen attempted to capture Seviper!
