From the moment he'd seen Mt. Chimney on a map he knew it was only a matter of time before he'd pay the place a visit. It did seem kind of foolish to feel a longing or calling to a volcano. Growing up on Cinnabar Island meant living under a volcano and despite the constant threat of it, there was never a moment when he looked at the volcano in the distance coming or going from the island and didn't feel the peace of "home". Volcanic activity was so associated with Kanto that it was well known in the other regions that Kanto soil was too volcanic to grow apricots for pokeball manufacturing. It was at the gym on Cinnabar that he'd trained his pokéteams, almost always with more than one fire type. It wasn't a motif he held to on purpose, it formed a naturally and similarly he was here today, naturally. With little Jakka the only fire-type on his team he felt it a proper time to expand. As much as he loved the view on the way up it was being here now that was the real thrill. Kiri pacing at his side the two of them made their trek carefully; he loved volcanos, but he still had the proper fear of gravity. If things got dicey Salamence would be their ride down but for now, he searched with confidence. He'd brought a high-power water hose to a trashfire fight. "Whatever we run into, be mindful of your water pressure." In other words he needed her to hold back. "We can't find our new teammate if you push them off the mountain."
