thud. thud. "it's not bulging," comes vera's very obvious observation on the current state of the metallic door. she steps back, trying to get a better view of the locked entrance. the surface is so smooth she can see her reflection. whoever designed it went through considerble lengths to keep it closed to outside eyes.

she turns to her mission partner for the evening. "should we use brute force?"

when vera was told of her new assignment, she ewas a little excited about being sent back to field. when she read the details on the file too innocently placed on her desk, her stomach turned. but it was too late to back down, so she followed through, which led her across the entire region to none other than rustboro city with a complete stranger.

For once, the League had remembered they had more then two scientists working for them. Instead of Lucas Lane and Illeana Reyes, they had requested someone more... obscure. Less known to the populace. Someone like Tsubasa would be considered as ideal for a mission involving science experiments, right?[break][break]

Needless to say, he himself was intrigued by what they could find. As someone who studied pokemon genetics, the research logs of this rogue team would be something quite interesting for Tsubasa. Maybe it would even help him further his own researches. The only downside is that he had to babysit someone else from the league.[break][break]

As the lady tried to force the door, stating it was indeed not moving, Tsubasa sighed. "You know that, if we force the door open, they're just going to delete their research and try to escape? It'd be better if we entered through another entrance, like a window or the rooftop. Or a door with an electric lock. I could send 00 in to override it." No matter what, he wished to conserve the logs intact, to see how far they had gone.

her head tilts innocently to a side. honestly, vera hadn't even thought about the possibility of the bad guys deleting their research. well, not that she had been looking forward to it, really, but she supposes it would be valuable information for the intelligence team. and, of course, she doesn't want the scientists to escape and keep endangering lives.

"you're right. there's a bunch of tall windows at the front — typical industrial warehouse — but we'll have to be extra careful not to be spot-"

a loud, thundering sound interrupts her. it's followed by another, louder and definitely closer. the ground seems to tremble, and vera's first reaction is to turn in the opposite direction. unfortunately, another set of steps would be waiting that way too. farther away, but just as dangerous if the sheer force of those steps were anything to go by. she has no other option but to step back until there's no more space between the brick wall and her back.

after gesturing for the man to hide behind the other pillar, she extends a hand towards her dedenne, until then curiously sniffling around the passage. a mouthed "i've got an idea" would be almost immediately followed by a throw.

are a pair of berry seeds. vera throws one of them past the guard closest to them. the other, she saves in case it's needed for the other.

Her head tilting could be considered cute... if she had been dealing with someone normal. Someone not focused on science and discovering more about pokemons and the world. At least, she was quick to the uptake. Even though she was stating the obvious, the lady still showed good analytic skills and attentiveness to her environment.[break][break]

The fact she picked up the sound of the approaching security guards was proof of that. The security patrol seemed to be heading this way. As she hid behind a pillar, Tsubasa decided to use a different method. Opening his scarf, the head of a Zoroa popped out, yawning silently. "Deceit, background mesh." said the scientist has he placed his back upon the wall.[break][break]

The Zoroa's Illusion started to do its work, covering the duo with the image of the wall behind them, making their forms vanish. The fact that the lady decided to throw a seed to try and distract the guards was... interesting. Wouldn't they notice that the seed ain't normally there and thus was thrown by someone? At this point, Tsubasa decided not to move, observing the girl with him and wondering what will happen.
