The door creaks ominously as Alecto leans into it, much like one would expect out of a - what was it again, a haunted house?

The interior setting is clearly well thought-out and it doesn't really surprise Alecto much when the door slams shut behind her. The dramatic flare, while appreciated, doesn't seem to bother the woman much.

Her green eyes sweep past the rotted armchairs and the cracked staircase, the elegant cobwebs and the darkened corners. Her hand lingers over the dusty handrail before she climbs the staircase - up to the next floor.

There are shadows where there should be none, and a faint cry - like that of a lost child - echoes in the chamber behind her. The small hairs on the back of her neck stand on end, but instead of fear, there is a flare of interest in Alecto's eyes.

Fascinating little creatures, ghost types.

Alecto spends some time exploring the upper part of the mansion, delighted at the care the Safari Zone staff had put into the whole atmosphere. This was a perfect playground for any ghost type.

The chills on the back of her neck make her laugh out loud, and she turns to find something staring at her from the shadows of a threadbare curtain.

The pale figure reminds her of coral reefs and Alecto quickly recognizes the Cursola behind the curtain; despite its ghostly status, it is not one she's looking for.

Leaving that room behind, Alecto decides to investigate what seems to be a music room. Most of the furniture appears to be hidden under pale sheets, which is a nice touch given the whole theme. At the end of the room lies a piano - and Alecto can't resist playing a few off-key notes that end up echoing in the wide chamber.

Well, if she hadn't made her presence known before, it certainly would be now.

She's sitting on the piano bench when a shadow coalesces into the familiar figure of a grinning Sableye right on top of the piano. Alecto stops playing, lips twitching ever so slightly in amusement at the sight of the species so close to her heart. Her own Sableye was her first pokémon, and her most loyal.

She plays a few more notes and watches as the Sableye tilts its head and disappears back into the shadows. Although Alecto is partial to Sableye, the one she has is more than enough. No, she's aiming for new species.

With a flick of her hand, Alecto draws an arcane symbol on the dusty surface of the piano. Perhaps it would summon more ghosts to her location.

She doesn't react when she feels something brush up against her leg. Moving slowly, Alecto peeks at the space beneath the piano, eyebrows raising when she finds a pair of feline green eyes staring straight at her. It is not the ghost Alecto is expecting, but - she can't help but be drawn in by the mischievousness that sparks in its eyes.

Alecto knows better than to try and pet it. Instead, she lets her hand hang in the air, waving her fingers in order to coax it closer. A few seconds pass before she feels a wet nose pressing against the skin of her hand, and then a loud purr erupts from the Purrloin.

This... was not the pokémon she had in mind at all when she decided to come here. Still, Alecto can't help but feel a connection to this little guy. He was trouble - she knew it.

When the safari ball touches the Purrloin and engulfs it there's barely any resistance from the pokémon.

Alecto's quick to put the recently acquired pokémon inside her bag, its safari ball neatly tucked along with her team's pokeballs. It'd been a spur of the moment decision, but the woman feels good about her choice; there'd been an immediate connection there. The Purrloin would make a nice companion for those boring afternoons tending to her bookstore.

Humming softly, Alecto rises to her feet and leaves the piano behind, wandering through the haunted halls of the mansion. She's strangely adept at weaving around fake cobwebs (at least she thinks they're fake), making her way swiftly to the other side of the upper level. She peers into some of the rooms, finding most of them fairly empty, some with white sheets thrown over the furniture. There's a broken mirror in one of them, and even Alecto has to admit that the sight of her reflection - multiplied by dozens of shards - in the darknened setting is kind of creepy.

She doesn't see the shadow that coalesces close to her, and only hears the faint laughter of a ghost type as she heads to another room.

A small furred pokémon sweeps past her legs and Alecto lets it go. It runs by too fast for the woman to catch a clear sight of it, except for the abnormally big ears.

The next room has a grand chandelier hanging from the ceiling and there is a wall entirely made out of mirrors in which Alecto can see the darkened shape of her reflection. Dust is unsettled beneath her feet as she approaches the silvery surface. If this haunted mansion were real, Alecto would say that she'd just found the ballroom. Even the walls are decorated with seemingly intricate, expensive-looking artwork.

It is her favorite room so far.

Tilting her head to the side, the woman hums a lullaby under her breath. Green eyes find her own in the mirror and a faint smile rests on her lips. There in something not quite right with her reflection.

Her fingers whisper over the surface of the mirror, finding it freezing cold despite the room's pleasant temperature. When she looks at her own eyes in her reflection, she can see twin orbs of glowing red looking back at her. This might have frightened many people, but Alecto thrives for the weird and the arcane, and the surprise only serves to widen the smile on her lips.

She takes a single step back when a Phantump materializes into existence in front of her. The rough bark of its... head, for the lack of a better word, looks somewhat old and scarred. Its horns twist around themselves, and Alecto can that see the tip of one has been cut off. "How long have you been here?" She wonders out loud, studying the ghost.

Unlike some ghosts Alecto has studied, this one looks strangely serious and solemn, lacking the mischievousness the woman has come to expect from most ghosts. It only serves to intrigue her.

"Accompany me?" She will not force a spirit, especially one like this, to follow her. If it does, it will do so willingly or not at all. Alecto reaches out a hand with a safari ball, eyes glinting with satisfaction when the ghost lets itself be engulfed by the safari ball's bright flash.

Humming in thought, Alecto pockets the ball and turns around to study the artwork.
