Moana walked along Route 111, the wind blowing against his face. He was here in Mauville because of the evacuation, but he did get bored when he was cooped up in the city all the time, so here he was. Training Pokemon was important, too, especially with the danger that was bound to be approaching soon with the alien invasion.
Pertapa joined him on the path, skittering along on the road, and Tynnu as well. The Rock types would likely help him take on the fire types that were common on this route, though he'd have to be careful with Pertapa, who was a bug type as well.
The wisdom in bringing along rock-types was soon evident when a massive Centiskorch attacked. Pertapa and Tynnu were on it as soon as the Centiskorch showed any aggression, blasting the bug with Smack Downs and Rock Blasts until it retreated, slinking away into the place it came from.
Moana smiled. He didn't think he would ever get tired of saying it, but he loved being a trainer.
Another fiery bug was the next attacker of their group. However, this one was a lot smaller, and much less of a threat than the Centiskorch was, at least outwardly.
The Larvesta screeched at Moana, and Moana clapped his hands over his ears. Yikes. Tynnu and Pertapa winced at the same time, and stepped back a little. The Larvesta pounced at Tynnu, who let out a cry and intercepted it with a Thunder Punch. Luckily, Tynnu avoided being singed by the flames from the Larvesta's body, driving it back. Pertapa joined the defense with her own Rock Blasts, and the Larvesta fled.
Finally, Moana would encounter a fire-type here that wasn't going to attack immediately. The Pignite walked up to the group of them, sniffing the air curiously.
Unfortunately, Tynnu was conditioned into caution, throwing himself at the Pignite with a Thunder Punch. The Pignite squealed, throwing herself backwards and out of the attack's way. Undeterred, Tynnu followed up the attack with another Thunder Punch.
This time, though, the Pignite was prepared. She met the Geodude's force with an Arm Thrust of her own, knocking Tynnu back to the ground. Pertapa also joined the fray, aiming a Rock Blast directly at her head. The Pignite, holding nothing back, cloaked her entire body in flames. Moana felt the heat from where he was standing, a safe distance away from the fight. She body-slammed Pertapa, the Heat Crash knocking out the Dwebble instantly.
Moana hurriedly recalled her. This pig was strong. She seemed weakened from the Thunder Punch and the Rock Blast, so Moana took his chances, tossing a Pokeball to try and capture her.
