Deeper into the wilds of the Safari, a Trapinch manages to make a solid first impression on the duo by exploding from the earth and astonishing Gavin's Lycanroc in the process. The hardy werewolf comes out of the encounter more annoyed than injured, made even more so when its favourite fiery punch doesn't seem as impactful as it had hoped.

Rotom scans the battle, filling Gavin in on details. Regular coloration, but with an ability uncommon in the species.

It'll do, Gavin decides. "Don't kill it."

Grumbling, the Lycanroc lashes out at its foe, playing rougher than Gavin would have liked but leaving the dual-type breathing in the end. It watches on resentfully as Gavin taps its victim with a safari ball.

Thanks in part to its aurora veil, Gavin doesn't even notice the Bermite as he and Lycanroc pass by a section of the Safari battered by a hailstorm. He's quick to depart if only to save himself from the painful impact of tiny chunks of ice. Lycanroc is equally affronted by the weather, swiping at bits of hail with its flaming paws.

So unaware of Gavin and his Lycanroc is this Wooper that, while attempting to mind its own business, the dual-type stumbles directly into the temperamental wolf's path. Lycanroc lashes out in return, the fur along its spine rippling in unnecessary warning.

"It's fainted, mate, chill out."

But Gavin's smiling as he shakes his head and continues walking.

Lycanroc is getting grouchier by the minute, and Gavin can tell that it's time to turn around and go home. They're on their way back when an Arctozolt quite literally stumbles across their path, easy prey for an angry wolf.

Gavin gestures vaguely in consent, and Lycanroc lunges.

They grapple in the snow, Arctozolt's bolt beak fizzling against the wolf's rocky hide. It slams the blue-furred canine against the frozen earth, but Lycanroc retaliates with close combat and knocks the poor abomination aside.

Its fire punch seals the deal; Gavin tosses his last ball, eager to return.
