Aerodactyl would be a poor match against the Corsola it spies from above; Gavin leaves it to scouting as he retrieves a different ball from his belt. Cradily absorbs a spray of bubbles with its Storm Drain ability, quickly eliminating its surprised foe by draining its health. Its tentacles sway in the breeze as Gavin nudges the coral from their path.

Rhydon makes for a more appealing encounter, though Gavin's general disinterest in the species leads to him signaling to Cradily once more. Storm Drain will be of no use in this battle, and the Rhydon comes out swinging with a devastating hammer arm. The barnacle Pokemon shrieks in displeasure, its neck bending back like a limp noodle, and the rock-headed dual-type thinks itself the victor.

Gavin smiles; Cradily's swaying tentacles alert him that there's life in the fossil yet. Without warning, it ensnares its unsuspecting foe within them, relying on giga drain to regain its lost vitality.

Gavin smirks as an Onix reveals itself; in spite of the stealth rocks it's spread around the area, the well-trained eye of the scientist can spot the slumbering rock snake's form among the boulders.

"Quietly, now." Cradily's short legs are a hindrance to movement, the fossil Pokemon scuttling Gavin's side. "We'll want to get the jump on it. Ingrain yourself first, then poison it."

Cradily's roots extend into the earth. Once ingrained, it spits a gob of toxic acid onto the curled serpent. As Onix stirs, its slumber interrupted by agony, the Cradily finishes it off with a giga drain.

Gavin tosses a ball, satisfied.
