Another week flown by faster than he count it. Although his heart was heavier this seven day cycle. He'd escaped from a void of darkness with his life but a dreadful thirteen of his pokémon had not been so lucky. All of them newer additions to the team some were powerful contributors he'd found at the top of their game and others were under achievers he'd polished into power.

He gave their lives and was given defeat in return.

In truth he didn't much want to catch any new pokémon here if their lives were to be like the ones he'd lost; little fletchling being a particularly painful loss.

Still he was here, going through the motions, to at least pretend that everything was still fine.

The Fiery Path gave him yet another splash of nostalgia as the Venonat trotted by with its large feet. Of all the bug species it was Volcarona he was holding out for but Venomoth's had their strengths too.

For a second he considered catching the Venonat, going as far as emulating its call. The little bugger came up to him and despite having two fire types on hand he wasn't compelled to attack the 'nat for capture. Instead he pulled from pocket a sandwich bag with a few grapes left in it.

Giving the venonat one grape he offered the rest of the bag when it ate the first grape, wwalking along to leave it behind.

His fingers itched seeing a Numel gallop near. Sweet thing even stopped by to allow Sénon the grace of giving it a petting. Had it been female he might have considered catching it but he had no use for another male numel. Best to leave it free to roam and allow someone else to claim it as their own.

With the sun going down he didn't have much time to make a claim, likely his next encounter would be his last. He must have felt worst than he realized; he couldn't remember the last time he'd let two pokémon pass him by on the fiery path.

But just then, as the of heat of his passions smoldered low in self-doubt, he suddenly changed his mind.

A tirtouga emerged from her pokeball; loyal Kiri. Spraying the Numel down with a HYDRO PUMP and it feinted instantly.

Kiri used HYDRO PUMP; its (double) super-effective!

He would claim it with a pokéball without thinking twice. The fire in his heart growing again, remembering that water and ground attacks were its only weaknesses. It was a strong pokémon and to walk his way back from shame and defeat, he would need strong pokémon.

Crimsen attempted to capture Numel!
