“I’m sure you could come up with a few if you weren’t on the spot.”

Kim chuckles, laughter soon falling short as he takes a breath.

“But I appreciate you just as much, if not more. Thank you for sticking with me all these years, Fernando. It means more to me than you can imagine.”

It was nice having someone stew in the same pot as you, a mutual camaraderie formed in the midst of heat and thawed baby carrots.

“Let’s just do the best we can for whatever time that we have left, yea? As long as we’re still in these seats we’ll have a job to do.”

“And I dunno about you, but I plan on doing what I can before I take my happy ass out of the picture. I swear I’ll see to this region's peace before I relieve myself of any responsibility to it.”

His tone is a bit lighthearted though a dreary sigh escaping betrays the ease of his voice.

“Alright, I won’t keep you any longer. There’s a lot to be done if I plan to straighten out this region and I need to start planning for what we haven’t already encountered.”

“I’ll try to keep you and Orion Lykos updated as I move forward. Take it easy, Fern.”

The call is soon cut, Kim set in his office as the setting sun creeps down in the background.
