Doug simply shrugged his shoulders as he slung his net atop 'em.

"It's goin' awright. Not missing a whole lot, ya know?" He said, scratching at his chin. "Just tryin' to find those last few while training up my bugs."

He had briefly considered perhaps going for duplicates, in order to broaden his combat options...

BUt he didn't have the sheer dosh or space to handle that many pokemon. He was already struggling with what he currently had, and it would only get harder going forward, he surmised.

"How's 'bout'cha? Things well with the ol' pokes?" He asked.

He didn't quite realize how, but he had felt the disturbance before he even moved. His gaze snapping towards quaking shrubbery, the youth leapt at it swiftly, net swung far over his shoulder before it was rammed down upon the bush with a loud thwack.

Then, with a single swing of his arms, the full net rose in the air, revealing his captured prey.

Ah, now he understood what it was he had detected...

Dottler. He must have felt the familiar feeling of its amateurish, probing psychic energy.

"... Well, two are certainly better than one!" He said with a large green as he slung it over his shoulder, before turning to Billy.

"That's great to hear, man! How's the collection so far? Gotten to double digits yet?" He respected the man's drive to get all Vivillon's, even if he certainly would never attempt it. He didn't have the money for so many new team members.

He didn't make a habit of capturing stuff just for the sake of trade fodder, but the moment his eyes fell upon the Lanturn, his memory pushed out an advert he had seen in the GTC app; someone willing to give anything for a Lanturn.

With a swoop of his net, the Lanturn was fished out of the water, much to its shock, a netball trapping it before it could either discharge electricity or run out of watery oxygen.

"Different colors?" He echoed as he pocketed the net ball, tilting a brow at Billi as he turned to face the man, his net slung over his shoulder. "What'cha mean?"

Differently colored pokemon... Did he mean the so called 'Shinies?'?

He had one of those, didn't he?

"Ooh, gotcha! ... Wait, that's even harder than the Vivillons!" He said with a laugh. "You don't do anything halfway, do ya? Best luck there, m'good fella, think you'll be looking for a long while!"

“Yeah there’s soo many ya know!” he grinned and thought for another moment. “You know like minior and all those types of pokemon! There’s just so much of them. They’re hard to find but they’d fit in so well in the gym at night! Among some others too!” he grinned thinking to himself as he found the beautifly pass him by. He quickly moved and threw a pokeball at it, it unfortunately was hit hard enough that it hit the ground then was sucked into the pokeball.

Okay, now he was lost. Why Minior specifically?

Doug wasn't super well versed in pokemon outside of his expertise, beyond general weaknesses and battle-specific details. Maybe some fun fact or other that he had heard while meeting new people.

"Nevermind me then, I've no idea what'cha talkin' 'bout. Can't all pokemon be shiny?" He asked, brows furrowed in confusion even as he swung his net into the nearby pond with a loud, crashing splash, swiping out of the water a poor wishi washi, its poor school tearfully waving it goodbye as it was unceremoniously stuck inside another net ball.

More trade fodder for the trading gods.
