It was a new idea to not just walk the path towards the top of Mt. Chimney but set up along it and camp out for the night.

For some reason he couldn't pinpoint the acquisition of not just a Charmeleon but also a Monferno into the team felt like a cause for a reprieve, a time for reflection; the start of a new era.

"Go ahead, light it up Jak'."

On cue his most well trained Charmander; Jakka used FIRE FANG to bite enough heat unto the wooden planks to light the campfire placed on a wide bend of the fiery path.

If the opportunity arose they might add another to their ranks but primarily they were here to build to bond forged in a patient flame.

A bond forged in a patient flame...

Leading into 2021 that would likely be easier said than done. His journey as a trainer as a ranger and even as a Kantonian, none of it was prone to slowing down or getting easier any time soon.

Even now on New Year's Eve's Eve with less than thirty hours away from a new year the powers that be seemed dead-set on showing him his path would not be easy.

In the same amount of time it took to light the campfire and get the Charmeleon and two Charmander to play nice, another fire-type Reptile came into the fold.

Blasting apart the campsite with its body to use SHELL SMASH it followed up with OVERHEAT crashing its flaming body into both Jakka and the Charmeleon. Proudly, as the latter got to its feet with only seconds of recover, the former was already lurching forward in a howling hiss, his tail ignited bright and ready to counter attack.

Turtonator as both a Fire-type and a Turtle-class was high on Sénon's priority list and was a breed he knew much about like its Dragon-typing and thus, its weakness to Dragon-type moves.

"All of you; DRAGON BREATH!" The trio looked around for but a second before stamping away to surround their attacker, the one who interrupted their trainer from doing whatever they were doing out here.

The Charmeleon wasn't pleased the younger Chars could keep up with it and in its urgency to be dominant it threw away its need to snip at the younger two and put all it had into outdoing them.

Jakka used DRAGON BREATH; its super effective!
Flint used DRAGON BREATH; its super effective!
Charmeleon used DRAGON BREATH; Critical Hit!

It filled him awe not unlike he was a child again to see his three Char-mander/meleon run down a potential threat like a real team. Spiking the Blast Turtle with the last of Pokéballs Sénon gripped it hard letting the wobbling ball pulsate in his palm.

Crimsen attempted to capture Turtonator!

With the camping cut short they were in for a long walk down the road as he watched their three tails light up the night sky before him he thought silently on the three things he wished to accomplish most before the new year was over, each more of a secret than the last.

"Indexing the 149 pokémon native to Kanto." A nice ribbon on his childhood ambition that would prepare him for the second resolution. "Reaching the top of the League's Ranger hierarchy." The best way to serve the region, protect the peace, make allies and sharpen his skills for what would come next. "Begin liberation of my home region, starting with taking back Cinnabar Island."

The Monferno walking at his side didn't quite understand but followed suit all the same ready to face down whatever his new trainer stood against. The swaying tails of his three lizards walking ahead of him became the symbolic flames of the three goals he would be pushing himself to the bone to make happen.
