No, this is about reinforcing a point. Her role in society is to live one of privilege as long as she follows the rules. Losing these luxuries serve as a reminder that without them she is nothing more than trash on the street.

And in Hoenn, the street is filled with a dog eat dog world.

Fernando says nothing as their gaze at the collection of half-revealed fossils. Not long after, the Poachyena take the bait. Several of them show up, fielding their ice type Pokemon to abuse the environment. Their ICE FACE, ICE BODY, and ICE SCALES means they'll be tough opponents.

Even now, he says nothing, looking at Yui to defend the both of them from their would be abusers.

"You better hurry."

A quiet reminder that this is not a game or test. Hesitance will spell misfortune. It comes in the form of several ice type Pokemon, each one approaching at deadly speeds.

As Fernando himself knew, yui wasn't very suited to field work. The girl had a really good analytical and strategic brain which was useful since she was knowledge on pokemon typings and moves. But her lack of experience with actual battling was made very apparent when it came to split second decisions, she wasn't very good at it. "I-I know." she said kind of irritated with the man, HE WAS OLDER AND A GYM LEADER SHOULDNT HE BE HELPING? [break][break]

She panicked initially as she hadn't had a chance to really plan for this kind of event but Porygonz's gentle nudge as it's lifeless eyes looked at her calmed her down a bit. A calmness came over her, she's got this, this was no different than a game of chess...just with a lot more moving parts. Which lead her to treat it as such "Codey, D5." she said before porygonz suddenly moved to in front of her and fernando. "Tri attack squares 5 c,d,e." she said as the porygon-Z moved to attack the three Pokémon charging at them firing orbs of different colors at the three Pokémon charging at them hoping to cause status effects or alter the terrain slightly to make it harder for them to make a direct approach.[break][break]

[attr="class","spiral"]By now, Fernando understands, at a glimpse, enough about Yui to tailor his own lessons onto the young prodigy. While her personality could use some work, her raw skills prove too essential to allow him to pass up. It becomes less about having her to himself and more about making sure she never turns against him. And, for that to happen, he needs to raise her intimately in the same way the wild had nurtured him.

Debts are slandered onto the young and reaped when the time is right.

Treating the battle like a game of chess isn't wrong. Fernando likes to style his own battle routine along the same concept. However, the exception to the rule is that everything happens in real time. Having multiple pieces move without a regard to your own turn or timing makes things difficult. This proves to be true when the TRI-ATTACK spreads out at only ends up stopping the Eiscue, sending it back wards as the orb of fire burns across the now melted snow.

Unfortunately, the other beams find no purchase. An opposing Mr. Rime reflects the attack with a MIRROR COAT. The single branching electric beam bounces off the lavender screen of light and comes back twice as fast and twice as big. The way it zig-zags in the air seems to home in on the Porygon as well, making dodging it even harder than a straight up TRI-ATTACK.

The ice portion of the TRI-ATTACK simply bounces off the Frosmoth that takes to the air. Fernando starts to expel a MISTY TERRAIN from the palm of his hand, coating himself and Yui in the process, anticipating some kind of SPORE like attack. His precautions prove inaccurate as the Pokemon instead looks to buffet them in a raging BLIZZARD. Wind and snow alike toss up into a whirlwind as they're pulled into submission by the adverse weather.

Hidden behind the BLIZZARD, several addition beams of light flash indiscriminately, a warning that even more Pokemon have joined the fray.

Fernando puts his hand up to his face to shield his vision from the oncoming snow. "You're losing," he rebukes, hard to hear past the howling wind.

As the wind picked up yui's dress swayed in the furious winds as she also protected her face. Damn it her vision began to get a bit fuzzy from the snow fall and winds but she was surely porygon-z could handle it. However Yui panicked when she saw that there was a magic coat attack flying right back at her and on top of that this blizzard was becoming a serious problem. She decided well two could play at this game "Codey!" she said suddenly as she saw the attack coming towards him and it hit him directly. She made a rookie mistake, of course mr rime was going to use a defensive attack like that. She gritted her teeth at Fernando's statement, telling her she was going to lose. But to her now this was a matter of pride, she didnt want to have to rely on him "I'm FINE!" she shouted back at him trying to speak over the raging blizzard that was now also harming her party. Yui knew porygon couldnt do this alone so she had to send him some back up to help. She summoned her chatot and her swablu to battle as well. "Codey go after that frost moth, use lock on and hyper beam!" After that she turned her sights onto Mr rime, that little fucker knew magic coat so porygonz who only knew special moves would be at a complete disadvantage. "Cotton! Use peck on square 5c!" she said for it to translate to attacking Mr rime and to not give him room to breath she's also use a special move in order to prevent him from using counter to hurt cotton "Chatty! also attack 5 c after cotton by using hyper voice!" she said hoping that this would work.

Fernando ends his goading there, observing as his fingers twitch. He can use these bottom feeder thugs for his own agenda but that doesn't mean he's not in danger by association. An innate instinct to fight surfaces and he grips one of his Pokeballs just in case things go too far south.

Her Porygon-Z takes a moment to LOCK-ON. Thankfully, the Frosmoth never lets up the BLIZZARD. The attack now spreads onto her Swablu and Chatot as well, exposed to the elements, but that allows the LOCK-ON to settle. A follow up HYPER BEAM knocks the Frosmoth right out of the sky and onto the snow below. It's dazed and otherwise out of commission for the moment, but that won't last for long.

Her Swablu fights against the BLIZZARD and manages to come up close against the Mr. Rime. It lands a solid PECK but being up close and personal leaves it vulnerable to a sneaky HYPNOSIS. Vibrant psychic waves leak from the Mr. Rime's eyes, sure to put anything exposed to it straight to sleep.

The HYPER VOICE rings true shortly after and it clips the Mr. Rime as well as the knocked out Frosmoth. But now that the BLIZZARD has stopped, they can see what they're truly up against.

"You got a lot of nerve kid," one of the Poachyena grunts growls, popping his jacket back into place as his Weavile stands in front of him.

The Eiscue from earlier finally gets up and sends several stalactites crashing down onto the Porygon with ICICLE CRASH. Likewise, a Weavile and Mightyena advance, transversing through the snow with ease as they look to land a NIGHT SLASH and BITE onto the opposing Pokemon.

She wanted to tell him she had nothing to prove, but she did. She had to prove that she was worth his time and effort or else she feared she'd be right back at the orphanage, unwanted. She wanted to prove she was worth something to the world, no, herself. Or else her family's sacrifice would have been for nothing if she just threw this opportunity away. Her Pokémon were a bit damaged from the blizzard attack ravaging their body but they seemed alright for the most part. Her flying types naturally took more damage due to their weakness to ice attacks and afterwards Mr. Rime's hypnosis put her Swablu to sleep due to the short distance between the two. When Yui saw that swablu had fallen asleep she quickly grabbed it's pokeball and recalled it into it to prevent it from further damage but also because of it's ability, natural cure. Chatot and Porygonz were farther away from the Mr Rime so they managed to escape the hypnosis. However, Porygon was hit by the icicle crash and likewise weavile's night slash and mightyena's bite both landed their attacks on chatot, she called out to them in a panic "No! Codey! Chatty!" Her Pokémon were both sent backwards until they were right on top of her. She had to buy time, Porygon-z is tired after it uses hyper beam, the cost for such a powerful move and on top of that her Swablu was currently recalled. Chatot was now center stage. She analyzed the situation at hand and realized something she could do, since Frosmoth was still on the battle field. "Codey come to d4, in front of me. Chatty use mimic on tile 5 E and then use blizzard." She said when she pointed her finger at the passed out frosmoth as porygon moved over towards her and Fern slowly. The last moved it had used was blizzard and Yui was now going to turn that attack back on the ones who used it against her. She didn't expect it to do very much damage, what she wanted to do was try and slow their progression towards her Pokémon to buy time for swablu and Porygon. Chatot's wings began to glow white as it began to flap them intensely, the wind in the area around the enemies kicked up and began to pelt them with furious winds and ice. Her voice pierced over the new blizzard forming, "Nerve is a requirement for battling." she said as a silent raged filled her heart for the ones who harmed her Pokémon. She was afraid though, they both had taken a lot of hits in this battle and she knew she was losing at this rate. She needed to look for an opening to recover herself.

[attr="class","spiral"]Her BLIZZARD proves effective. It doesn’t deal much damage to anyone except for Mightyena but the turbulent winds obstruct their vision and make it harder for them to approach. It buys her time but not nearly as much as she had anticipated.

The Mr. Rime puts up a LIGHT SCREEN that helps filter out most of the attack’s bite. Once it passes the screen, the winds die down. For those ahead of it, the Eiscue continues the same ICICLE CRASH, dropping more clumps of snow on top of them, guesstimating their position with a lucky amount of accuracy.

Fernando leaps back as the snow starts to pile on.

The Mightyena struggles to come forth but it eventually does by using AGILITY. Likewise, the Weavile has little issue coming forward. It helps paint a target on the Chatot, allowing all present Pokemon to team and BEAT it UP.

Yui saw eiscue doing that attack again and panicked initially upon seeing it, it was extremely close to her and she was barely able to get out of the way in time. She gritted her teeth, hitting the ground with her hand as the snow made it glow bright red. She was becoming more upset by the moment with this damn battle. She grabbed the pokeball off of her belt and released Swablu again. She was losing her ground by each second and there was nothing she could really do at this rate. Chatot got hit by beat up and was growing increasingly tired, she called chatot over to her and told it to use ROOST. "Codey! Use tri attack on Mightyena! Cotton use moon blast on mightyena!" she said as she was going to start using a form of beat up of her own. [break][break]
She had to start taking them out one by one.

Fernando’s rebuke is seldom heard amidst the battling. His actions however speak much louder than his words. The Pokeball most accessible to his right hand come undone and it leashes a thicker MISTY TERRAIN than the one he had expunged from his own pores.

Tapu Fini.

The MOONBLAST and TRI-ATTACK hit their mark, taking out the Mightyena but that doesn’t address the other Pokemon on the field. Thankfully, Fernando finally rises to the occasion and his Tapu Fini projects its own attack. The MISTY TERRAIN congeals around the Legendary before forming the GUARDIAN OF HOENN.

The Z-Move encapsulates the power of the Legendary Pokemon and replaces the BLIZZARDs from earlier with a typhoon of fairy energy. Snow gets blown away like an autumn yard being purged, hurling the enemy Pokemon away and out of sight.

There’s still room for fighting from the others but all of them recognize the Councilman’s signature Pokemon. They flee shortly after and Fernando stands there, unimpressed.

“Field work isn’t as easy as it seem.”

She looked at fern angrily, she had that! Well she didn't really but she was too prideful to admit it. Her last gambit was gonna be to perish song the enemies Pokémon's with Cotton, but she really didn't want to have to resort to doing that. She looked over at Tapu Fini, for some reason fearing the creature, it was an immensely strong Pokémon that instantly wiped away all the nearby snow from the landscape. "That's easy for you to say! They all feared you and ran off as soon as they saw Fini use her power! If I had power likes yours's id have been able to handle it that easily!" she said as she let her emotions get the best of her. She was after all, still a child, despite all that brain she had for coding. [break][break]

She however walked back to all her Pokémon, chatot and porygonz were looking rough and Swablu also had took a bit of a beating as well. She took out some potions and called them over to her and patted them all "I'm sorry I let you guys get so hurt..you all did very well.." she said as she sprayed the potions onto their wounds to try and heal them. She took a moment to kind of look back at fernando "How did you manage to even get that strong? able to get a legendary Pokémon like tapu fini?"
