Chu-e hated having to do things by the books. Unfortunately, the Safari zone hadn't been cracked yet, so he had had to hand over some of his precious cash to get inside. And only three balls to catch stuff with? Ridiculous.

But he was here because he had heard there was some rare ice types here. Chu-e didn't have any of those and they could be pretty powerful from what he had heard. Usually he had a brand he liked to keep with his pokemon, no shame in being picky, but he was willing to put that aside for now.

Sunshine was at his side, sticking close. Chu-e appreciated the warmth the Growlithe provided. Hoenn was getting colder, yes, but it was still more tropical even in winter. This place, however, was fitting out to be a winter wonderland- iced over with snow and frigid down to the bone. It made him wish he had wore gloves.

Either way, Chu-e was determined to leave here with a pokemon. He could endure the cold for that.

Was that a Lapras? It looked like in the distance was a lake, probably half frozen over in this weather, and he could see the large creature listlessly floating as it enjoyed itself. It was quiet the ways away and probably hadn't noticed him. From what Chu-e could remember from Kanto, there had been a big stink about these guys. They were practically endangered since people thought they were so delicious. It might make a good catch.

Too bad right as he started to make his way towards it, it seemed to have gotten bored or hungry or just wanted to piss Chu-e off. It dove down under the water, vanishing with just a few bubbles. He waited a few seconds to see if it would resurface. Looks like it wasn't going to, which was a shame he guessed, but it was kind of an ugly pokemon anyway. So he moved on, in search of something else.

It seemed that Chu-e wouldn't have to wait for long to find something else that caught his interest. Half buried in a snowdrift a little pokemon was taking a nap. He would have passed it up if it hadn't been for Sunshine sniffing the ice type out. It just looked like a sharp bit of ice melt, though he guessed that it was in a suspicious spot now that he thought about it.

Either way, this would be easy as pie. The thing wasn't even awake to defend itself. Taking one of Safari balls from his pocket, Chu-e tossed it at the pokemon and watched it get sucked inside. Easy-peasy.

Chu-e was just clipping his new pokemon to his belt when another appeared. This place was filled to the brim with them, it seemed. He guessed that made sense and all, since the place was an area where Trainers could pay to bolster their rosters. It wouldn't make sense to only have a few running around with people willing to pay high dollar for a chance to see some of them.

This one looked like an ice cream cone and Chu-e was enthralled by how cute it was. It seemed to be minding it's own business, but when it noticed the Trainer, it started to approach- until it saw Sunshine, who was looming behind Chu-e with fire drool on his chin, looking at the ice cream like it was a tasty treat. The little ice type cried out and then fled elsewhere.

Chu-e hadn't realized what had happened and his shoulders sunk. Darn.

Just a few more paces down the path and there was a giant sneeze. It was enough to startle him and cause Sunshine to growl over this insult. Before Chu-e could order the canine to stand down he had already ran into the bushes, smoke spewing from his mouth. There was a blaze of fire followed by a commotion, and then out of the grass came a weird, snotty, purple bear. It looked singed and tripped over a pile of snow to land at his feet.

Chu-e had never seen one of these before and had no idea what it was. But, even with a drippy nose, it was cute as hell. Sunshine followed to advance on the pokemon, but Chu-e just shrugged and dropped one of his empty Safari balls on it to suck it inside. Sunshine had already burned it, it looked like, so maybe this would be enough to catch it?

No sooner had Chu-e latched his second pokemon of the Safari to his belt did a second weird booger bear appear in front of him. It looked like it was upset the other Cubchoo had been captured and had a lot to say about it- too bad that Chu-e didn't care. "Sunshine." Was all he had to say and the second bear was being flamed by the Growlithe till it gave up and ran away.

Wasn't that one a different color? Weird. Maybe this was one of those species where they had different colors and features based on sex. Either way, he didn't need two of them, so he moved on to see what he could find. He only had one safari ball left and he intended to use it.
