"hey i found it corby! over here! let's go buccanneer!" kazimir shouted as he ran down the road towards the shrine which wasn't hard to miss with the large column of smoke rising to the sky. he had been lucky to run into an old friend up along the road as they were heading in the same direction when a priestess came up to them telling them about the fire up ahead. sure enough kazimir didn't even hesitate to run ahead to try and help in some way he could, guess that put their reunion on hold then.

it was lucky that he brought along one of his trusty water types with him, his blastoise that didn't even need an explanation when he saw the fire starting to spread around the shrine as he ran alongside kazimir. water cannons popped out of his shell and the large turtle unleashed a powerful hydro pump on the fires to beat them back. as the ones on the outside died out he went to work trying to aim his cannons through any windows and openings around the shrine to try and get the inside as damp as he could without getting too close, the heat of the fire already making him and kazimir sweat as the blonde stood beside his pokemon patting its shell for some confidence.

His childhood nickname rings in his ears, but his brain is on autopilot. Nothing else matters when his tunnel vision sets in. He had been notified of a break and enter on Route 117, and although this area wasn't really in his jursidiction, he was the closest one to the scene. Apparently, this break and enter featured a new and improved arson. [break][break]

Horror reflected back the flames eating up the shrine as he looked it up and down. The man removes his gun from his holster, careful not to get too close to the fire as he sprints around the back. [break][break]

"Don't do anything stupid, Kaz!"[break][break]

The woman had stopped them along the road to notify them of the fire, but Corbin had already known about it- not that he'd told Kazimir. Running into an old friend had been unexpected and jarring, and he had barely given a chance to stop and speak with him.[break][break]

"Hey, wait, freeze!"[break][break]

He lifts his gun defensively as a shadow catches his eye. The shadow of a man tossing a jug of gasoline catches his attention, and he ultimately chooses to put the gun away and give chase. Kazimir seemed to have a handle on the fire, and at this point it was more important to capture the culprit.[break][break]

as the hydro pump turned into a rain that would wash out the embers of the shrine the fire was still going on and not letting up anytime soon. however that seemed like the least of their worries until corbin himself took out his gun and aimed it at the shape of a man with a jug running into the shrine. the officer gave chase and kaz was quick to recognize the sight of someone running from the police. something was up and he wasn't going to let it just hang there and be handled by his friend, even if he was a trained cop.

"buccaneer hold down the fort outside. me and my buddy are gonna check something out." his blastoise was dumbfounded at the idea of being left alone but before he could even object his trainer was already hopping over debris and into the shrine. "hey corby! ya find anything?!" kaz shouted out as he look on inside only to come across an empty jug of what smelled like gasoline but no one in sight. "uh hello? hellooooo? anyone in here?"

"Sarge, I need you to scout ahead and cut him off."[break][break]

He utters a clipped instruction and feels the Starly's talons let go of his shoulder. The little bird spreads its wings, darting forward with a surprising amount of speed. His triumphant little cry is indicative of his success, as the voice of a man in pain comes into focus just ahead.[break][break]

"Police! You're under arrest for suspicion of arson!"[break][break]

With the gun trained on the individual, he slowly begins to approach. However, just as he is getting close, Kazimir's voice cuts through the noise. It distracts him, drawing his attention away from the target and giving the culprit the window to escape. [break][break]

"Damnit, Kaz!"[break][break]

The arsonist beats back his Starly and bolts around a corner.[break][break]

he hears the cursing and his name giving him a sign that he probably wasn't supposed to follow his friend into the burning building, something that even the most sane person would agree on. however he managed to make his way around the burning shrine to see a man attacked by corbin's starly before swatting it away and make a run for it. kazimir was quick to connect two and two together without any question and suddenly chase after the guy. "don't worry i'll catch him!" he shouted with a wave and gave chase to what he could only assume was the culprit.

the guy was quick to nearly give him the slip around the shrine, kaz had to wonder if he was familiar with it. that was questions saved for later as he saw the guy run from the shrine and into the woods behind it and he knew that he was going to do something kind of stupid in order to catch him. "heads up!" he yelled as he jumped from the the doorway he saw the guy came out of it and long jumped at him as he made his way down a downward path. the culprit took one quick look up to see the mass of kazimir coming at him before both of them were tackled to the ground and rolled around in the dirt with kaz ending up sitting on top of him. "hah! got him!"

outside his blastoise was managing to finish up his waterworks duty and switched to a life dew to try and ease more of the damage around him.

But before he could get in front of the guy and properly stop him, he watches as a civilian does what he can't do, catch up and take down the suspect. Kazimir leaps, tackling the guy to the ground and Corbin is left looking like a complete idiot.[break][break]

"You're lucky he didn't have a weapon, Kaz."[break][break]

He retrieves handcuffs from behind his back, promptly putting the struggling man in cuffs before lifting him to his feet.[break][break]

"This is Officer Quinn, yeah, I got him. He's detained, I'll bring him in."[break][break]

With a shove, Corbin moves the guy off to the side and toward the incoming police officers that would take the arsonist off of his hands. Once that was dealt with, Corbin would look back at Kazimir.[break][break]

"What were you thinking? What do you think you are, some kind of superhero? I am trained for this, man. This is my job. You could have been hurt, or killed."[break][break]

kazimir rolled off the culprit as corbin came in with the handcuffs and managed to detain their man all while reinforcements came along. with them was a squad of firefighters who helped kill the blaze once and for all and tend to any injured who managed to get out and who were still inside. luckily there were no actual casualties among the ashes but still many had the burns to prove how close they were to becoming said ash.

"hey i'm trained too you know," kazimir replied to his friend at his admonishing words while standing tall, "besides i've been working with some rangers here and there, dangerous stuff isn't exactly new to me y'know. besides i had you to look after me." his exasperated look on his face quickly melted into a smile as he walked up to his friend and gave him a pat on the back. "besides maybe i have what it takes to be a superhero after all these years. and i'd gladly have you as my sidekick."

if only he knew kazimir's secret identity, then he'd probably be in for a shock.

Corbin heaves a sigh of relief, smoothing his uniform out and turning back to look at Kazimir. Normally, the sight of an old friend, a good friend should have been something to celebrate. How many years had it been?[break][break]

The clap on his shoulder is familiar too, but the man standing next to him feels like a stranger. Corbin stiffens, caught between shrugging him off and staying put. He doesn't move away or dodge the familiarity, but he does stop and stare.[break][break]

"Working with rangers, huh? Dangerous stuff? God, Kaz, you haven't changed, have you? Still bullheaded, running into stupid situations headfirst with no regard for your personal safety or others."[break][break]

He sighs, shaking his head.[break][break]

"A superhero? Dude... you really are way in over your head."[break][break]

Even still, the goodnatured attitude of his best friend, the man he had literally grown up with and been sort of the big-brother to prevents him from being angry. He relaxes his shoulders and pulls Kazimir into his arms in a big hug. With a few solid pats against the mans back, he pulls away.[break][break]

"It's good to see you, Kaz. Seriously."[break][break]

in over his head? "oh if you only knew." kaz whispered under his breath before being pulled into a hug by an old friend, the gesture enough to put a smile on his face as the familiar warmth embraced him. Corby meant well, he knew that, even if he was a bit blunt about it.

"its good to see you too Corby. hey maybe we'll help each other out again, stranger coincidences happen around this place a lot. or y'know we could hang out like old times, i know a killer pizza place in mauville." as the rest of the police and firefighter crews cleaned up the area kazimir led his friend back onto the route, chatting him up about what's been happening recently with him and Corbin as well. ..."and that's how i got a side gig as a pro wrestler around here. so like, i'm kind of already a superhero y'know."
