Gardevoir was the first to notice, really. Not that she was completely inattentive or anything. But the self-proclaimed Fairbanks did not have such keenly attuned senses as the psychic type. She only noticed the rumbling earth moments later. But when she did, she immediately stopped, looking around. Being attacked by wild pokemon was no joke, her father had taught her. And among his many lessons, that was one she had actually taken to heart. Especially when whatever was after her seemed to be both really big and really heavy. Still it would take them a few moments to find out what exactly it was, mostly because the Rhyperior was still coming over a nearby ledge. Once at the apex though, it roared, making it impossible not to notice it anymore.
And then it jumped. Well, more like it skidded down the rough edge of the hill which was much too steep for her to climb herself. But it still went down there, building up momentum, coming right at them. Instinctively, Vio darted to the side, hoping that the ‘Mon could not adjust it’s trajectory quickly enough to catch up to her.
Gardevoir didn’t, though. As she turned, Vio found her Pokemon just standing there, straight in the other’s path, her back to another larger stone formation. The Psychic did not even try to evade. Instead she just looked at her trainer. In the first moment, said trainer wondered if her Pokemon was just kind of stupid like that. Then, she realized the hint of a smirk. “Um, Psychic!” she yelled out, a command that her ‘Mon clearly cherished. Raising her arms, the attack was begun – and over almost as quickly. Gardevoir did not even try to stop that momentum. Instead, she forced the Rhyperior to shift to the left – and run itself head-first into the rocks. It crashed into them heavily, breaking apart some of the formation, but also seeming quite dizzy in the aftermath. This time, Vio didn’t need to say anything. The moment her mon’s eyes locked with the wild ones, it started to hypnotize it, no doubt seeking to eat its dreams afterwards. But Vio wasn’t ready to take that risk. Instead, she threw one of her Pokeballs at the hypnotized being, hoping to catch it while it was asleep. She did not want to deal with an even angrier Rhyperior if the Dream Eating failed.
Gardevoir pouted, though. “You can eat some Rattata’s later,” the trainer replied, hoping the ball would stop wobbling soon.
