"Essentially yes." Dakota said with a nod impressed that Luna had been able to figure it out so quickly. Though the process was a lot more difficult then what she made it out to be. There had been countless times where he had failed to revive a fossil, or when the pokemon did not do well even with peoples aid. None of it was mentioned to Luna, as Dakota thought there wasn't a point in mentioning it, at least not now. Dakota would smile as Bear ignited the fire kit giving the pokemon a pat well done. "Hmm? Oh yes. Vulpix do have very nice coats." He smiled during the explanation giving vulpix's fur a gentle stroke.

The vulpix moved closer to Luna curiously cocking her head a few times before finally deciding and climbing her way onto her lap, curling up and resting. Lightly chuckling when Luna was hit by the rock, it appeared that the girl did not understand the pokemon's feelings quite well. Quickly reaching into his bag Dakota would pull out a treat for pokemon. "Boo was it?" He aske approaching the pokemon extending his hand to give the pumpkaboo a treat. "Hopefully you'll like this snack.. "

"Guessing you don't have food on you huh..?" Dakota would ask with a small shake of his head and sigh. Grabbing a container of premade curry and a bowl to reheat it on the fire. "After it's warm we can eat" Placing it on top of the fire kit Dakota curiously tilted his head at the comment. "yes.. I guess it is. It's been awhile since I last saw him, but I admire him greatly." Watching the pot slightly shimmer from the small heat source, he asked Luna a question.

Returning a toothy grin to Dakota, Luna felt pride in herself in knowing the gist, even if without the process.

When the Vulpix climbed into her lap, Luna began to pet and scratch it where she could. Being that Bear was the only Pokemon she had back in th eday, she shouldn't have known how to pet such a cute little fox. It almost felt like a far off memory, to scratch behind the ear. Like she'd receive a small burst of ember from the mouth, and a growling hound's delight.

Huh. Where'd that come from?

Boo was approached by Dakota, and the Pumpkaboo felt embarrassment from the older man's gentle offering. She turned away, only to quickly swipe the treat into her mouth, attempting to look unimpressed as she chewed. However, the taste was too good not to enjoy, and a delighted smile fought for dominance. The Pumpkaboo, jealous of the Vulpix, pushed her face into Dakota's chest, never to make eye contact.

The question of food made Luna rub the back of her head. She wasn't going to escape ridicule on this one either. When he offered curry, Luna nodded in delight, clapping her hands together. "You're really dependable, Dakota!" It was a little buttering up to ignore her genuine lack of thought before entering the cave.

Luna blinked at the question, and answered. "Rustboro, actually. Almost all my life. My parents adopted me from some orphanage in Kanto when I was too young to remember." She never really thought about back then. With Bear now laying against Luna, and the Vulpix in her lap, Luna looked towards the fire.

Why were her hands shaking? She looked back to Dakota and nod into the flames.

"I guess I could've had a sibling back then! It's interesting to think about, you know? I could be an older sister!" she gave a toothy grin, not letting the thought of her parents and possible sibling perishing take down her mood.

Dakota chuckled as Boo embraced him with a warm hug. Giving her a few comforting pats, Dakota knew well that Pokémon were difficult to understand - in a way they were just like people as Pokémon also displayed a vast array of emotions. It was ironic, some days he found Pokémon easier to understand rather than people and on other days it was the opposite. Luna was still young and still had trouble with understanding herself, he wouldn’t blame her for not recognizing that her Pokémon was jealous and wanted attention.

I just came prepared” Dakota didn’t understand why Luna saw him in such a light, he didn’t feel the same way. Clearing his throat and moving towards the curry pot which shimmered thanks to the heat, he poured some curry into a bowl - quickly grabbing a spoon that laid next to his backpack before handing it off towards Luna. “Eat carefully it’s hot” Pouring a bowl for himself, Dakota listened silently as Luna explained that she came from an orphanage.

There wasn’t anything that came to mind for a response, he felt like an idiot for asking such a inconsiderate question.

Eating a big spoonful he ignored how hot the curry tasted as it entered his mouth.

Youthful whimsy, perhaps? Luna was anything but dependable today, but Dakota was in every regard. Preparedness only exemplified that, of which, Luna was certain. Taking the bowl given, with spoon in hand, she was about to take a large bite, before realizing how hot it was. She heeded his warning, blowing on it to make it edible.

Then she chomped down, and a delighted sound came from her mouth, as she placed a hand on her face. The heat warmed her up immediately, and the cold air she would breathe out wasn't so cold for the moment.

"This is really good." Luna remarked only after swallowing, showing some courteousy.

Luna began to dig in, tearing into the curry at a decent speed, enjoying the small meal to keep warm, and to fill her belly. All while Bear napped once before beside her leg. Boo merely continued to stay near Dakota, far too irritated at Luna to go back, tempted to throw another pebble at her careless trainer. Though she didn't after seeing how much the first pebble hurt her trainer. She didn't WANT to hurt Luna.

Then a new question came. An awfully curious one. "Y'know... I'm not the smartest cookie in the jar. But do you think I might have a chance pursuing science? If it has people like you, and Doctor Morales, it seems like a really good field." Doubt began to plague her features now, taking her toothy grin into a much more sheepish, uncertain smile.

There was an immediate smile upon hearing that Luna enjoyed the curry. Though Dakota did his best to quickly conceal the smile, clearing his throat a little. "I see.. well, I'm glad you like it." He stated plainly scooping up a small spoon himself and eating it as well. "Don't eat to fast now or you'll get indigestion.." Dakota warned with a raised eyebrow. Dakota glanced at boo, and tossed the pokemon another treat. Dakota ate in silence, observing his vulpix and aurorus as they slept comfortably.

The question was a little unexpected, pausing as he ate Dakota saw that Luna was serious - it was only fair to give a sincere answer. "You can do it Luna, your smart and bright - it isn't easy to work in the scientific field but given your optimistic personality I'm sure you'll manage and achieve great things. Don't let things such as brains intimidate you. What matters is your passion, at least thats how I think of it." He offered a gentle smile, happy to hear that Luna was interested in joining the field - it was promising.

A low giggle, and Luna was grinning, pacing herself with the curry, and looking on in glee. Boo, who had been hiding in jealousy, noticed her trainer's bright smile, and warmed up considerably. Dakota's treat did well to bridge that gap.

Dakota's answer only gave a bigger curve to that sunshine smile. Dissuaded by someone she looked up to in her self-doubt. She only just met Dakota, and it felt good. A support system that wasn't her parents, telling her no all the time. She COULD do it. It just required passion.

"You know, if I did have a sibling, I'd hope they would be like you, Dakota."

Her curry bowl empty now, the girl allowed for the Vulpix and Cyndaquil to get off her lap, and stood. With a long stretch, and a sigh of delight from the food, she beamed to Dakota. "Well then! Let's keep going! I have a lot of catching up to do!" that toothy grin came up, with a fire in her eyes. She had a goal.

Dakota had sparked it in her.

Dakota smiled contently, he never considered himself good with words and wasn't sure if what he said would give Luna the motivation she needed to pursue what she wanted to do. He was glad that she took inspiration from him. Dakota's face became bright red and he grined like a fool. Dakota didn't say anything but gave a small nod in affirmation, getting back up to his feet. "Let's get going"
