Ever since it had come to him in a dream, Angelo had been drawn to the picture of surfing atop a Mantine; racing underneath a vacuum tunnel of ocean waves before it could collapse on them both, sea spray and sun hitting his face as adrenaline inducing stunts are attempted.[break][break]

Months had passed but still Angelo remembered how free it had felt to soar between sea and sky, even in a dream... So, it stood to reason that as soon as he caught a Mantine of his own, he'd want to recreate that unbound feeling of breathlessness - addicting and exhilarating.[break][break]

Breaking through the water surface, Angelo is greeted by his Mantine, Nereid dipping her fin lower to him so that he could stay afloat. An unneccessary gesture, he'd been swimming in ocean and canal waters since he could crawl, but he accepts the kind act anyway. [break][break]

“Thanks, beautiful.”[break][break]

Bare, tanned arms flop over the stretch of smooth scales that she had offered to him, folding them as his eyes follow the folding and swirling of waves in the distance; feet unconsciously paddling. Angelo takes a minute to rest, chin on his hands, as he appreciates the sunlight reflecting on the water surface.[break][break]

“Up for another go? I know I said this last time… but I think I’ve almost got it down.” If only doing an Over the Gyarados was as easy to do in real life, as it had been in his dream.

"Go-nna-- Fal-l-!" The words weren't able to reach her mantine as water continued to fly in her mouth. Coughing from how salty the seawater was, all Chloe could do was just hang on as tight as possible praying that Jett would take notice of her struggle. The pokemon didn't seem to realize at all, instead Jett continued to accelerate in the crystal clear waters. Believing that her trainer was having a blast.

Giving up on trying to hang on, Chloe released her grip plunging into the waters creating a decent sized splash as she did so. It was thanks to Chloe's lifejacket that she was able to stay afloat, as Chloe was a lackluster swimmer. Even though her team was comprised of water type pokemon, the ranger preferred to not swim. She only liked to admire the ocean from afar. It was then where she encountered Angelo, a man who also swam with an Mantine. Awkwardly staring at the man for a few brief moments her movements creating small ripples in the water. "... hi!"

At Angelo’s question, his Mantine inches herself towards him to allow the courier to pull himself up onto her back, ready to tackle the waves together again. It was then, as he crouched on the broad stretch of her body that a splash of water drew his attention; a salty spray of droplets catching the sun in his peripherals. [break][break]

When he turns his head, he’s met with a young woman bobbing on the surface of the ocean thanks to her lifejacket and a Mantine of her own at her side – staring right at him. [break][break]

“Hi,” he repeats, eyebrow quirked and lips curled into a faint smile, amused at her dramatic entrance and short, to-the-point greeting. Nereid turns in the water to face the pair, Angelo’s fingertips pressing into the strong expanse of her back to keep himself stabilised as she brings her face close to Jett’s, stretching and wiggling her antennae towards it in greeting. [break][break]

“Cool to see another Mantine Surfer out here. How's the waves treating you?” He asks casually, absentmindedly brushing wet hair back out of his face.[break][break]

Close by, a Wailmer pops out with a misty spray from its blowhole, its large balloon shaped body sending a wave to roll out towards them as it breaks the surface tension.[break][break]

“Speaking of... Hold on,” he warns with a chuckle, Nereid bobbing with the swell of the tide, threatening to send the less balanced wobbling. Blue eyes slip from the Wailmer – having thrown a pokeball at the sight of it, inspired by a thought at the sight of the familiar whale pokemon – and back towards the brunette once the water levels again.

"Not kindly" Chloe admitted with a light chuckle, she and Jett still had a long way to go if they wanted to work out their teamwork. The mantine inched closer to angelo, very curious about Nereid the pokemon very happily returned the gesture only with more enthusiasm which sent salty water flying all about. Growing impatient and not wanting to bob out in the cold waters for any longer chloe whistled towards Jett a signal that had been established during their training. Jett quickly swam back towards Chloe, scooping her back up on her large back. "Thanks Jett.." Giving the pokemon a gentle pat, chloe didn't heed the warning Angelo had given her. It ended up causing her to easily fall over off her mantine once more, bobbing out in the waters. She then took notice of the wailmer that the man chucked a pokeball at. Scrambling back onto Jett she chuckled once more "I was not expecting that.." Chloe smoothened out her brown hair which was an absolute mess due to all the times she had fallen off. Clearing her throat she looked back towards Angelo. "Nice to meet you. Names Chloe"

Another splash accompanied the woman, spray twinkling in the sunlight as she slipped off her Mantine some five seconds after managing to get back on. Angelo presses his lips together in a tight line, holding back a laugh. At least, attempting to, anyway; as soon as the brunette resurfaces with a chuckle, he can’t help but release it into the air. [break][break]

“At least it’s a soft landing,” he muses in good humour, tucking the pokeball into the small waterproof pack atop Nereid’s back with the Wailmer contained. [break][break]

When he turns to face the woman again, Angelo notes she’s scrambling back onto Jett, sweeping sodden brown hair away from her face but looking undeterred with an introduction thrown his way. “Angelo. And likewise,” he returns, smiling before his gaze shifts off towards the horizon, senses tingling in desire to feel the wind and spray brush against his bare skin again. His heart was starting to decrease in tempo, adrenaline rush simmering low after floating aimlessly in the water and that just wouldn’t do… [break][break]

“Looks like a good wave is coming,” he pauses as he takes note of a swell of blue and white approaching, considering for a moment. “Hey, you want to come with? Could do with someone telling me where I’m fucking up on this one trick.” [break][break]

In the wave’s path, not a great stretch away from them, a Graveler is stuck on a rock jutting out of the ocean. Angelo has no idea how it got there, just it probably wouldn’t do it any good to be swept away. He throws a pokeball at it, just to save it from drowning.

"Your right about that!" The ranger responded to Angelo with a bright grin taking a fall or two was nothing! If she wanted to improve it was bound to happen anyway. Jett glanced up towards Chloe eyes wavered with concern since her trainer had fallen twice already. "Don't worry Jett, I'm not going to give up so easily. giving the mantine a thumbs up and a reassuring pat. "Ohh.. Angelo huh?" she would question curiously giving him another quick glimpse, he looked to be quite the experienced surfer - leading Chloe to the impression that she could maybe learn somethings from him.

Chloe perked up as Angelo mentioned that there was an incoming wave, a look of determination on her face. "Oh yeah lets conquer those waves!" She cheered, disregarding that she had already taken two falls earlier - confident that this time she'll get it. A new trick huh? Sounds good to me! I'd appreciate if you'd give me a few tips too. Your a lot better at this then
me! Flashing Angelo a cheeky peace sign with her hand. She'd watch as the man tossed a pokeball at a graveler that was stranded.

"Haha! how'd that guy get there?" Finding it funny, she imagined that the Gravler had been calling for a savior and was overjoyed when Angelo chucked a pokeball. Completely distracted by Angelo catching the rock type, Chloe hadn't been paying attention to an Oshawott who had been swimming just in front of them. By the time she realized it was to late to react causing a small collusion."Sorry little guy..! How about I treat you to some nice oysters after.." She would plead, tossing a pokeball at it.

“Uh, maybe don’t compliment me just yet… You’re setting me up for embarrassment.” He laughs, bending down to tuck the freshly filled pokeball away and give Nereid a pat against her side in a signal they were ready to set off. “But sure, it’s a deal. Now let’s go before the wave gets to us first.” [break][break]

Angelo hadn’t actually been Mantine Surfing for very long, still getting to grips with the finesse of the tricks that were whispered among the hobbyist community. Despite his fresh status however, it felt natural rising to stand atop the back of the water pokemon as she began to swim away, his experience using the floating chariots in Alto Mare apparent in how he balanced unperturbed by the swells of the ocean. [break][break]

Pokemon swim underneath them as they take off through the crystal blues, their shapes a blur of colours as Nereid begins to pick up speed towards the wave. It looked like a good one, Angelo notes as it begins to increase in size the closer it got towards the shore, big enough to catch some air time but not enough to threaten to swallow them whole like a Wailord mouth. His lips curl into a sharp grin, his nerves electric as the shadow begins to stretch towards them; adrenaline once again starting to pulse. [break][break]

Underneath him, Nereid swims enthusiastically faster, picking up momentum as they swerve to tackle the wave at an angle. Water roars in Angelo’s ears as they begin to scale the wall of swirling water, salt spraying and heart racing as they reach the crest and the Mantine launches herself into the sky briefly – taking flight – in a warm up jump that sees them floating back towards the calmer side of the wave gracefully. [break][break]

Angelo throws a look back over his shoulder with a grin, wondering how Chloe did… [break][break]

Angelo appeared to be quite an easy going guy and pretty friendly. "Alright" Chloe returned a chuckle placing the newly caught oshawott's pokeball into the bag which sat on the hip. Giving a nod she directed Jett to follow after them, which she did happily glad to see that they had been swimming in the direction of a decently sized wave.

Laughing in delight as Jett climbed the wave at a steady pace so Chloe wouldn't fall, there was a small acceleration and Chloe was thrilled, she hardly surfed but this feeling was slightly similar to roller coasters but surfing was way better. It felt a lot more free. Surprisingly she managed to not fall off as the two continued to surf on the wave, she was quite proud of herself and of jett, believing that they improved considerably in a short amount of time.

The way Angelo rode the wave was impressive, the way he did it just looked so natural. "That was great!" She would say soon as Jett also swum towards the calmer side. "I didn't fall off this time" joking laugh heartedly with a laugh.

Clearing the height of the wave, Nereid floats on the breeze towards the other side; gliding descent throwing up beads of water into the air and over Angelo as she skims across the surface of the sea. Despite the splashback, it’s a relatively smooth landing and it seems that Chloe’s Mantine is quick to follow. [break][break]

“Thought you said the waves weren’t being nice to you today?” He playfully comments, pulling up their previous conversation pre-wave, his lips curled into something knowingly mischievous as the other Mantine rider exudes infectious positivity at their successful jump. “It was! Hey, here comes another one. “I think it was just a fluke!” Chloe laughed, though the feeling of surfing on those waves without plunging into the water was exhilarating. She felt determined to do more surfing in the future, when work things weren’t so hectic. Jett happily spun around a few times, making Chloe a little dizzy as the mantine did so. “Jett your making me dizzy here girl.” she pressed a hand against her head to try and stop the spinning sensation. “Oh...! Alright quick Jett after them.” She didn’t knew that waves came so quickly, and since she felt a little dizzy she wasn’t entirely sure how well she would do this time.

The wave seemed a lot taller compared to the last one, in fact some smaller water types were attempting to swim away from it not wanting to get caught up. A lack of judgement, Chloe was thrilled to see the wave she wanted to ride it badly and was eager to do so. “right let’s do this!”
