The attacks pelted the wide guard over and over and over again. However Oscar's stalwart defenses just barely managed to hang on and when melody was going to issue her next round of attacks she noticed something. The song was over! Melody ordered her pokemon "Stop!" as he pokemon froze in place and stopped their assault. [break][break]

Melody smiled at oscar. "You did very very well! You had slip ups here and there but what truly mattered in the end was that you and your Pokémon kept a cool head. Your strategies were unique and you encouraged your Pokémon and showcased your love and compassion for them." [break][break]

she adds on as she layered the compliments. "I'd just say be more careful and knowledgeable on how exactly moves interact with one another, you made a big misstep with the substitute into my sound moves." [break][break]

She walked off the stage as a staircase moved up to meet her footsteps preventing her from falling. Melody walked over with the biggest grin on her face as she knew what was coming next. "So with all of that out of the way! Oscar Clayton, do you accept the rhythm badge and promise to spread what you've learned from training your Pokémon to whoever else you can?" she asked waiting for his answer.

The song ended, and as Oscar comprehended what that meant a jolt of anticipation ran up his chest. He looked around the arena, noting each of his remaining pokemon as he spotted them. He had four left, and there were no more attacks. Was it done? Did he win?

Melody began to give Oscar a congratulatory speech, and Oscar grinned as he let go of his inner tension. He fucking did it, how he didn't know but fuck yeah he made it through! He was just doing this for fun and he made it to the other side, that was some A+ luck he had.

No, not luck. Oscar took a moment to accept a single fact, he was becoming quite the trainer. Luck doesn't earn you five badges, at this point he was developing skill. Or something perpendicular to skill, he'll have to think on it. Point is, his training paid off and won him a badge. The question was, could he go further? Why not, it would be a fun way to spend free time.

As Melody reached he final question, Oscar would nod enthusiastically. "Yes! Without a doubt, I will do my best to pass on what I learned. Thank you so much for this battle, I hope we meet again!"

Oscar collected his pokemon, prize, and went on his way--determined to now complete his growing badge collection.
