Pink. Everything was pink. Spring had sprung and it seemed that the safari zone was swathed in cherry blossoms and flowering plants. Of course, not all of the flowers were pink - but they were flowers nonetheless. [break][break]

And that alone was seriously all it took to attract the young Avery to the safari zone. That, and the promise of adorable squishable pink baby Pokemon. If she were lucky, she might even catch a glimpse of the beautiful Galarian Rapidash somewhere out in the deeper parts of the forest. She'd been dying to see one.[break][break]

"Ooooh!"[break][break]

Avery's eyes grow wide and she covers her mouth with her hands, gasping at the sight of the adorable little Happiny. It seems to be doing an activity similar to dancing, rushing back and forth in the grass and giggling and gushing over its egg. [break][break]

It stops after it bumps into a Lopunny, and the Pokemon in question glances over its shoulder to stare at Avery. For some reason, it seems to be carrying a basket of goodies. The Lopunny hands the Happiny what appears to be a pink bean treat, and it approaches the woman eagerly to hand her something as well.[break][break]

And then it leaves just as quickly as it had arrived, leaving Avery along with the Happiny once again.[break][break]

"Wow! Lucario, look, that Happiny is a slightly different shade of pink than normal! What a rare Pokemon!"[break][break]

It nibbles happily, making excited noises of happiness as it eats its treat. As a result, it only requires a little bit of coaxing and a wiggle of fingers to get the baby Pokemon to come and play with Avery, too. Eventually, Avery finds herself being followed around by a needy little Happiny, constantly trying to get into her picnic basket of snacks.[break][break]

It takes all of her willpower not to squeal. Excitement bubbles up in her chest and she raises both hands to cover her mouth. Due to her coming to an abrupt halt, the Happiny trailing after her excitedly bumps into her calf. It begins to cry immediately, having dropped its precious stone.[break][break]

Avery coos quietly as she squats down to scoop the baby Pokemon into her arms. And when she stands up, she realizes that the egg has been left behind and a Ponyta has come to investigate. For some reason it is drawn in by the wailing of the Happiny and had separated from the rest of its herd. [break][break]

"Oh look! Someone's come to see you, cutie! Say hello!"[break][break]

She moves slowly as to not startle the pony, bending down to retrieve the stone. One returned, the Happiny seems more than happy to interact with the Ponyta. She sets the little Pokemon down on the ground and the two apparently become fast friends. [break][break]

"This Ponyta is oddly coloured too! How strange, but still very cute!"[break][break]

She offers the Ponyta another treat she has spare in her bag before continuing on their merry way.[break][break]

It had to be due to that sweet scent she wafted, right? That was the reason Pokemon flocked to her so naturally, why they stuck around and enjoyed her company so thoroughly. It had to be the reason the Ponyta eagerly snuffled at her pockets, why it rubbed its face up against her clothing. It was basking in her light, in the safety and comfort of her presence.[break][break]

And now they were to be joined by yet another beautiful, bashful, shiny Pokemon. The safari zone was full of surprises today, it seemed. At this rate, it would be more appropriate to be shocked to see a Pokemon that wasn't shiny. Perhaps Avery had picked the lucky ticket this time.[break][break]

"Why hello, little Shellos! Are you trying to perform a rain dance?"[break][break]

Said Pokemon seems to wobble back and forth. Whatever it's doing, however, isn't resulting in rain falling from the sky. At the realization of this, the little slug seems to melt, thoroughly dejected. [break][break]

"Hey, don't be discouraged! It isn't as easy as you think! Here, try this."[break][break]

Avery then attempts to teach the Pokemon her own version of a rain dance. She'd had to learn as a means to encourage her own Pokemon to perfect it. Sometimes the daycare and her garden of Budew needed a little extra rain sometimes, you know? [break][break]

With a sway of her hips and a wiggle of her fingers, she encourages the Shellos to mimic her. Whatever the Shellos does differently this time appears to work, as a brief rain cloud drifts by to drench all four of them. Avery gasps as the cold water splashes against her skin and clothes, but the Shellos seems overjoyed and rejuvinated, frolicking in the damp as it is absorbed into its skin.[break][break]

"I knew you could do it! You just have to keep on practicing!"[break][break]

Unsurprisingly, this show of kindness enables Avery to adopt this wild Pokemon as well. [break][break]

Avery, now with a whole troup of shiny pink Pokemon, is now unfazed by the sudden appearance of yet another shiny pink Pokemon. The flock of Oricorio rise and fall, breaking into a wide circular dance. They fan their little hands and wiggle their hips. It is almost mesmerizing how perfectly in sync they all seem to be. More than one appear to be oddly coloured, sporting paler feathers than their counterparts.[break][break]

All around, Avery is enamored by the sight. Rather than intervene, the young woman chooses to watch the show. Her own Pokemon seem inclined to do the same up until a certain point. She watches with a breathless giggle as her Shellos shimmies her way into the fray. Somehow, the little snail manages to blend in just fine.[break][break]

"Oh, look at you! You're fitting right in!"[break][break]

She nearly keels over laughing, and it seems that it boosts her soft sweet scent. By the end of it, and after she's wiped her amused tears away, she'd find that an Oricorio has settled on her head. It holds out a hand as it shifts to hover in front of her. [break][break]

"Are you looking for something? Here, what about one of these? They're homemade!"[break][break]

She offers the bird a poketreat of some sort. And, for the rest of the day, Avery spends her time befriending the Oricorio as well before ultimately packing up herself and her four new companions to head home.[break][break]
