Goldenrod's brightest teen and his trusty Emolga were back in business! The Safari Zone had entered a vibrant and beautiful spring since they'd last come to visit it. It was teeming with all sorts of new pokemon as a result.

Sticking to the trail for now, the pair cut through a thick forest buzzing with sounds. Every so often, Sigmund would look up to gaze upon shooting stars in the clear blue sky above. Every so often, he would hear one crash into the earth nearby.

Ratatoskr challenged a Galarian Ponyta wandering around in the woods to a race! Leaping from tree-to-tree, the Emolga eventually swooped down in a swift glide as it matched the speed of the pony's gallop.

A glide could only carry a pokemon so far, however— even if it was just a teeny-tiny squirrel. Needless to say, this was a race Ratatoskr would not end up winning. The Emolga landed on the ground and huffed as it watched the snickering Ponyta disappear into the wilderness. Oh, well, whatever! The race had been fun anyway!

An AROMATIC MIST filled the section of forest they had entered. Little totems made of sticks and leaves were scattered about. Some of them even hung from trees. Some looked like dolls, others like... symbols?

Creeped out by the witchy vibes, Sigmund did his best to pass through without making noise. Even Ratatoskr was clutched to his shoulder tightly, warily looking about for any sign of an old crone who would turn them into gingerbread and eat them.

Something (a Hatenna) jumped out of the forest and scared the bejeesus out of them with a flash (DAZZLING GLEAM). Before the pair could even see what had jumped out, however, they bolted. No one told them the Safari Zone was haunted!

The Oricorio flung itself amidst the tree's branches using a powerful TAILWIND. It hadn't considered that Ratatoskr was an expert glider, however. The Emolga swiftly caught on to this tailwind and rode it, giving quick chase.

When the bird immediately halted, perching itself upon a branch to spin around and attempt a DOUBLE-SLAP, Ratatoskr segued into a dazzling display of ACROBATICS that fended off the slaps. And, when it tried to spin away with a TEETER DANCE, the Emolga gave PURSUIT and tackled it off the branch, sending it falling downwards.

Thankfully, Sigmund aimed and cast an empty pokeball that would capture it well before its body hit the ground below.

Ratatoskr placed a paw on the egg with a big fat grin on his face, and the Happiny was all too happy to cater to the rodent's fascination. Sigmund, too, had crouched nearby to observe the interaction. 

Happiny always confused him. They were babies, too, right? Were the eggs... babies? Or were the eggs more like, just... food? Okay, eggs were normally both, right. But still! This was kinda weird, right? Why weren't there more people talking about this?

After a daring leap from high up a tree, Ratatoskr giggled with joy as he rode a breeze over the Safari Zone's trail. Long before he was destined to touch ground again, or Sigmund's shoulder, however, the Emolga's paws were instead suddenly met with the rocky shell of a flying Minior. Startled, he electrocuted it.

A VOLT SWITCH from the Minior to Sigmund's shoulder took place in an instant, and sent the sentient meteor in question crashing downward. Sigmund cautiously approached it afterwards, having heard of this pokemon before but never having seen it. When he determined that it was, in fact, unconscious, he produced a pokeball and tossed it.

A booby head slug? Sigmund had stopped and crouched down just to poke it. It smiled at him dumbly when he did so, and the blonde grinned back. It was pretty cute, especially considering it didn't know how funny it looked.

Ratatoskr glided down to pat the booby head as well. Unfortunately, when the squirrel did so, it accidentally shocked the Shellos with its paw as well. Booby head cried out before shifting back around and slowly crawling away. Sigmund frowned.

Ratatoskr found himself atop a Galarian Ponyta as it galloped through the woods. The Galarian Ponyta certainly hadn't asked for it. And, quite frankly, Ratatoskr hadn't intended to accidentally take part in this rodeo either.

Eventually, the Galarian Ponyta flung him off. Ratatoskr glided to safety but, as soon as he landed and turned around, the pony tried to put him to sleep with a HYPNOSIS. It wouldn't last long, though. Sigmund interrupted it with a pokeball that he tossed.
