He deserved this. Truly. He recognized that now. It was the burden of leadership to be where the 'buck stops' to be where problems go to be solved for good. A good leader handled the problems of their juniors but a great leader ensured his juniors could solve problems themselves. @chloe latest text was a relief; Mission Complete. She'd done it all without his help and little of his input. As rangers he might be framed for her success but it lowered him; the idea of being praised when he'd dropped the ball. He was proud of Chloe for getting it done but a more than a little disappointed in himself. Following the suggested entry area he found the entry the others must have used to get inside but after that it all went to shit. He stepped into a hole that he swore wasn't there when he looked down a moment before. The unprepared inertia of stepping down two feet when you only meant to step down two inches was enough to sprain an unsuspecting ankle. Senon's ankle was unsuspecting as hell. Following that he decided to hobble on and get the mission done anyway, assured his team needed his help. A distant battle echoed off the walls and the rumbles and pulsations in the wake of that battle caused loose structures to come undone and before he knew it one poorly placed foothold caused a small cave-in. Kadabra taking a large stone slab to the back of the head meant his TELEPORTER was now inoperable. Sitting in such a trapped pinched condition he fought off the instinct to panic knowing he had trained and reliable pokémon searching just outside the parameters of this caving system. Before he could truly question if he would die in his rocky hole or not he was found by Dugtrio. With a little time lapse Heatran burrowed through to get to him; eating dirt, cracking rock and leaving molten waste in its wake to free its trainer. A saving grace from the League itself, although he'd had it for a while saving his life finally seemed to inspire a real bond with the gifted rarity. For the first time he felt a personal pride in the fire-type like the two of them were finally becoming a team. That made the text from dahlia goode sting all the much more being informed the Heatran was being moved to League Custody under a different handler. Plus somewhere in all the excitement of being crushed to death by rocks at some point what he thought was a sprain felt more like a break. His ankle, his pride and half his heatran.
