eventually, he returns, and he rises to his feet. he stumbles towards her desk, ignores the pain in his leg, and drops a brown bag on the desk.

"your clothes from the other night."

he slides both hands into his pockets, finds what little comfort he can. he notices the way she distances away. he doesn't move.

"you have a mission tomorrow evening."

for moments, he's tempted to take another step forward to challenge the darkness that resides in her. but he blinks, and in the brief moments he sees his dreams in full. they pass by like a flash, but the fear lingers for far too long.

cloth hides the tremble of his hands. his heart races, but he remains steadfast.

"eight pm at slateport. i'll text you the details tomororw."

[attr="class","beck"]he nods, then turns and leave. the door shuts behind him, leaving him to the lonely confines of the hallway. it's then, with nothing to focus on, that his heart races in his chest again. he takes a step away, leans against whatever wall's nearest, and just breathes, doing his best to calm.

darkness used to be comforting once. it isn't anymore.
