of course he wasn't paying attention. he was never really paying attention. so when the pokemon, machamp, walked right past him it wasn't a big deal. after all fighting types weren't even really on his radar. he liked the freedom that flying types gave so that was what he was mostly interested in. but if he couldn't pay attention then who knew what he would actually end up seeing.

armani was the first one who noticed that there was a pokemon actually worth what archimedes was looking for. a feathered friend that had landed close by and was now hopping closer, head tilting as it was curious to the duo. with a chirp the rufflet was now next to the pair, pecking at the ground and scratching.

digging in his bag that was so expensive he really shouldn't have been storing food in it he found some of the pokefood he used for the other flying types on his team. scattering it on the ground. the rufflet gratefully pecked at it, eating as quickly as it could without choking. at least he hoped it wouldn't choke.

"you like that? good."

taking a pokeball out of the bag as well he pressed it to the rufflet's head, hoping that it would take through the feathers.
