Watermelon, good choice. Oscar chose blueberry himself, it was the flavor of victory. Rowan sent out his pokemon of choice, a hefty looking Seismitoad. Oscar shuddered slightly at the blue frog, its warts seemingly staring back at him. Gave him some mighty conniptions. 

Oscar brushed off his unease, being drawn in by Rowan's joke. Oscar chuckled nervously, "Yeah um, not this time. Sorry about that by the way." Oscar truly did feel bad, though with all that had happened since he nearly forgot he had thrown Rowan at all. Oscar stepped forward, not yet calling upon a pokemon to aid in the hunt.

He slid his sucker back and forth between his cheeks, thinking on how to draw out their targets. Finally he looked to Rowan, "Think you could disrupt the peace? We gotta scare them out of hiding. Should be easy from there."

Oscar cracked his neck, preparing for whatever Rowan decided to do.

As planned, the pikachu emerged from their hiding spots as soon as the Seismitoad began making enough racket. There was a fair number of them, at least fifteen. Far more than Oscar reasonably thought could hide under this road. As the rodents ran, Oscar snapped his fingers. They had to snag some before they got to far.

A shadow moved across the ground. The air shimmered around the form of a large discolored ariados, who wasted no time in lassoing up some fleeing pikachu. Emma had been there all along, hiding herself within her Camouflage. The pikachu hardly had time to react to her sudden appearance, crying out as they were strung up by her Toxic Thread.

While Emma went hunting, Oscar turned his attention to Rowan. He felt compelled to create small talk, considering that Emma could handle herself and would probably do most of the work from here. "So umm--how've you been feeling? Like, where's your head at?"

Rowan Wrynn

Oscar nodded at Rowan's initial answers, though he could tell he was holding back. He didn't have to wait long for the young grunt to open up, it was clear that what happened with Aoi was--traumatic. Oscar sighed, sliding his lollipop back and forth between his cheeks. 

"Yeah um--that was fucked. For sure."

Oscar scratched the back of his head, not sure how to proceed. He wasn't the supportive type, he didn't do very well when it came to empathy. However he felt a certain kinship with Rowan, and he couldn't stand to see him so somber. If he could be there for him, he should at least try. Oscar grimaced, folding his arms as he thought of what to say.

"You never--really get used to it. Y'know? It's part of the job but, taking a life always feels wrong. At least in my experience." Oscar tilted his head, trying to push out the faces of those he had to put down in the past. Ugh, what a sickening feeling they brought him. How dare their memories try to make him feel guilty, it was their fault for being in the way. Oscar made a 'tsk' sound with his tongue, moving some strands of hair from out of his eyes.

"Luckily, the people we have to take down are ones that deserve it. Traitors, corrupt League dogs, people who don't have the public's best interest at heart. Hoenn is a severely sick country and sometimes--things need to be cut out to cure it."

Oscar clenched his teeth, hoping that he at least gave Rowan something to think about.

Rowan Wrynn

Oscar spaced out as Rowan hit him right where it hurt. His beast missions have brought him across the board, delivering suffering to those who deserved it--and those who very much did not. Even though the memories seemed to scream at him, Oscar would swallow his guilt. It was a valuable skill, and it made his job a lot easier.

Eventually Oscar thought to respond, "Got me there. Nothing we can really do about that. Sometimes bad things have to happen to good people to make the world a better place. It'll hurt at first, but eventually they just become stepping stones. You'll forget them once you reach your destination." That was a lie, he'll never forget them--but hopefully he'd stop feeling as bad. 

Oscar clapped his hands together as he finally decided to take a look at their haul. "Right then, um--we should check on Emma and the pikachus." He walked forward to get a better view and was very pleased by what he saw. Emma had rounded up at least two dozen pikachus, all of which were squirming within the webbed nets they had been caught within. 

Oscar nodded, "Damn good work Emma. Alright let's catch these fucks and call it a day." Oscar brandished a sack full of empty pokeballs and held it out to Rowan, "Need one?"
