HORN TRUMPETS BLARE TO ANNOUNCE the start of the HOENN STAR TOURNAMENT. this celebration cycles with the pokeathalon every four years. slateport has been remodeled to accommodate visitors from the other regions with local specialties and plenty of festivities. the days go long and the nights never end, filled with boisterous shouting and the laughter of participants drinking until dawn.

aspiring trainers from all over the world gather to participate in a week long clash of battles. those looking to make a name for themselves will find an ample chance to display their skills and talents. despite the inevitable tragedy of defeat, moods are kept at an all-time high, fraught with sportsmanship as those present marvel not at the winners but the fights undertaken. the more spectacular the better, for the league, team rocket, and another set of eyes overlook promising recruits.[break][break]

EVENT SUMMARY

THE THEME OF THIS EVENT is to battle as many trainers as possible. each battle will grant participants battle points that they can spend at the end of the event. players can only cash out points from a specific character once!

players may decide the battle format and rules for their thread. collaborate with your partner(s) to decide who wins. for those that cannot come to an agreement or have issues deciding, the match will be considered a draw.

• win +15 battle points
• draw +10 battle points
• loss +30 battle points

to qualify, threads must reach at least two pages. rewards will still be given out but these threads do not count for curry. lastly, please keep track of your battle points in this thread: H✩T: BP TRACKER[break][break]

use this opportunity to thread with characters that would prove difficult otherwise. this prompt is meant to help pair up characters and use their interaction as a bridge for future plotting. good luck and have fun trainers!

EVENT GUIDELINES

players will need to track their battles, partners, results, and bp. this thread can be used to house trackers. you do not have to use the template provided. [break][break]

all of your character may participate but each one will have their own individual battle points. [break][break]

only threads started after JUNE 1ST and completed before JULY 31ST will count. the end date is subject to change!

EVENT TIPS

IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT IN BATTLING RP, or do not find it enjoyable, heed the following tips. as creative writers, we have can find multiple ways of approaching this tournament arc on hoenn. however, your threads must contain battling for a portion (at least 2-4 posts) of the thread.[break][break]

• focus on dialogue between your battling characters, using the battle as descriptive passages.
• battle over 2-4 posts and state who wins. write what happens before or after the battle.
• find a theme or motif to have your thread revolve around.
• experiment with fun pairings or combinations of trainers and pokemon ala theme skills.
• start in medias res, experiment with skips in time, flashbacks, and other manipulations of story structure.

HOW TO PLAY

• I. find a partner and create a thread in slateport beach with the (H✩T) tag. this cannot be a character you have already done this with.
• II. roleplay a battle of your choice until the thread hits at least two pages.
• III. determine a winner by the end of the thread. if neither of you can come to an agreement, the thread will be considered a draw.
• IV. post in mod reqs asking for your battle points to be distributed. a mod will post how many points each character will gain.
• VI. repeat this until the end of the event. make sure to have fun!
• VII. spend your hard earned currency in the event shop. this will open up closer to the end of the event.

CANON CHALLENGES

DUE TO THE NATURE of the competition, certain canons will be given perks to assist non-canon characters. with that in mind, this is a public event with a wide range of spectators. actions taken may play a part in future site plots.

  any gym battles that are completed during the event period and were started prior to JUNE 1ST can be cashed out for battle points. this replaces the thread you would have made for the tournament and counts toward the one battle thread per character.

  any character that has been in a gym queue prior to JUNE 1ST may claim a gym badge from their hoenn star tournament battle with the respective gym leader. the challenger gains an extra 10 bp while the gym leader gains an extra 5 bp.

  any character that does not claim either of the above bonuses may 'challenge' any one gym leader they battle with during the tournament. win or lose, they will earn that badge. in exchange, the gym leader will earn an extra 5 bp.
