Like a chain reaction, Kyle's laughter encourages his own. His shoulders shake as he represses it, lips pressed in a tight smile.

His Pokemon was a fucking moron, and that was OK.

It looks surprised when the bone it had been fighting over suddenly disappears, stumbling awkwardly on its tree-trunk limbs when its momentum is suddenly changed. The force palm catches it, sharp, and Dracozolt goes down.

Gavin claps, and laughs again.

"That was fun. Congrats on the victory, and all that."

when kyle recalls his lucario back to its ball and affixes it back to his holster, he feels the adjacent pokeball react once again. he turns to liam, raises a brow in confusion, before getting a smile back to his face again.

"heh. thanks for the match too," he responds, returning the gratitude.

all things considered, everything ended well. usually, people would go take a trip to the pokemon center or go look for someone else to match up against after this point, but kyle deviates from the trend by a bit.

he pauses, pondering on it for a bit, before sighing and going for it anyways.

"oh yeah, random question," he asks brazenly, still wondering if this was a good idea or not. "do you have a special bond with a legendary 'mon or something?"

Though Gavin's guard goes up, immediate, he does not react but to cant his head.

Avatars were not a thing in Galar, not so far as he'd known about growing up. Perhaps they'd found chosen ones, now, but Hoenn seemed to be the epicenter for doom and destruction. It was no wonder they'd all congregate here.

"Not that I'm aware of, no?"

The back of his neck prickles. How does he know?

He remembers what Adrian Malcolm had told him about auras. Was Lopez one of Yveltal's chosen? He was part of the AQUA initiative, Gavin knew, and he'd been accompanied by creatures Gavin had never seen before or since on Mauville's warfront.

"How can you tell something like that? That some Hoenn thing?"

denial was expected. though not necessarily an avatar, there were people like angelo vestri that would rather keep their connection with a legendary pokemon a secret. he supposed liam was the same.

"nope. just a hunch," he answers casually, "but i'm bad at those, that's why i don't go gambling."

he sighs. the memories of rolling low come to haunt him again.

"well, i'm gonna go now. thanks for the match again!" he goeees the other way, where his next match was supposed to be, before turning around one last time. "feel free to get back to me if you do though," he tells him.
