Mason had never heard such names before. But oh well he didn’t know a lot of things. Mason tried his best to say it as the woman said it and pulled it off. ”Nice to meet you Evette,” he said cheerfully, his words genuine. 

     The word parents left a pretty bad taste in his mouth but he didn’t want it to get to his head so he just opened his mouth and let whatever words come out of it. ”Well, you see, I...”, his words then became very fast in the next line, ”don’t really have any of those and just recently started becoming a trainer,” as if he wanted to make it less awkward he added, ”so... yeah... guess that’s why I don’t know any of the stuffs you said before, so thanks again, for telling me.” he sincerely thanked her.

No teachers? She could buy that easily. But no parents was on a whole different level. Was he an orphan? That didn’t really make sense either. An orphan would never be this sheltered. They had a much tougher life ahead of them. She raised a brow. He was probably telling the truth here – or at least what he believed that to be – but it still didn’t make too much sense.

Though it was not her problem really. And probably a smart call not to make it hers. Being a busybody in a foreign country was probably not going to work out too well for her. But she wanted to give at least some advice. “Well, if you just started, then you still have time to turn back. Go to a city and ask around for a trainer school at least. You might be a little old, but if they are anything like those I know from home, they won’t just turn you away because of that. They can at least give you an introductory course. Much better than I could, anyway. And you should have that at least before challenging wild Pokemon.”

    Mason was taken back a bit. He was sure that he could handle it on his own without having to go to any school, he just didn’t know that a trainer should not join in the battle. It was only that that he didn’t know. ”A-Alright, thanks. I’ll look into that,” he lied only because he didn’t want to be rude. Plus the woman was only worried about him after all.

Heh. The cadence of lies. Eve wasn’t some prodigy in telling the truth from the fake or anything like that, not by far. But she most certainly knew when she was being lied to. At least when it came from someone with little experience like this boy. After all, he seemed like he didn’t know a whole lot about everything. He probably didn’t have to lie to a lot of people.

But she didn’t comment on it. Whether it was the truth or a lie, that comment did tell her to stop prying in it’s own way, so she shrugged. “Well, as long as you do….” She trailed off briefly, looking around. “But it seems like there aren’t any other Pokemon here encroaching on the wooloos. Guess that is good enough for the time being, isn’t it?”

    Mason looked around as well. It seemed like it was only the Seviper. He sighed, he struggled to even beat one Pokemon. At this rate, he won’t get anywhere. So he would need to train harder. 

     ”Yeah, I guess I’ll make my way now. Thanks for uhh, helping me out.” he said with a slight smile. Before walking off.

     The farmer stopped him in his tracks to give him a reward though. But he continued right afterwards. The farmer would also give Evette her rewards. The farmer was a nice person. 

     Little did Mason knew, his journey had just started and things would take a more interesting turn. Evette was one of the few who will see how far Mason has gone if they would ever meet again.
