Knowing that this woman was apparently getting into these kinds of vertical situations often enough to be so blasé about it all was not quite as reassuring as the blonde probably thought it was. In fact, it was probably very bad sign. Not that Evette was the kind of person to tell anyone how to live their lives.

Aside from, well, when it came to staying alive. “You might want to invest into a flying type for, um, surveying, too,” she hence replied, while trying to help the other up onto the Noivern. Him having to carry her around by the collar was not exactly comfortable for anyone involved, she imagined.

But at the very least, the other was apparently capable enough to notice what was wrong with the Wailord from afar. Which was pretty good, actually. Eve at least had not noticed that pipe yet, but knowing what to look for she could now find it. “I guess I can send my Sawblu down to sing for it. But, um, taking that pipe out will probably at least startle it, right? Do you really want to be anywhere close to it when that happens?”

What in the world was that woman doing? Eve could not fathom what was even going on there. One moment, she was looking around for the nurse after having secured herself on top of Noivern, the next that lady just popped up in mid-air, apparently clinging to her teleporter for dear life – and not to be saved or anything, but rather to give instructions? And what was going on with the shouting, anyway? Honestly, she had no idea, finding herself perplexed by what was happening as if she had just witnessed some kind of foreign ritual happening on all hallow’s eve or the like.

But as fast as the other had appeared, she vanished again. As much as one could call the natural act of falling after having reached sufficient altitude ‘vanishing’ at least. The fact that she was not flying seemingly just caught up to the lady there. “Noivern!” Eve simply called out to her Pokemon and it understood immediately, taking a brief dive to at least try and grab that woman by the collar. “What in blazes are you doing there? You’re not going to help any Pokemon if you break all your bones on impact! First, get a grip, then go help!”
Though, despite saying that, Noivern would then hover in mid-air a bit, giving the nurse ample time to survey damages.

“I am always happy to have more fans,” she replied with a gentle smile, just as mother had taught her. It was a difficult habit to break, and one she was not quite certain she had to. After all, it could only help. She had long since stopped just singing for her mother, but instead was drawing from said friends. So, having more nice and caring people among them would only help motivate her further, she reasoned.

Though she had to raise a brow at the other’s approach at aerial surveillance. While Eve called out her Noivern, hoping to use not just its flight and sonar capabilities, the other instead used two smaller, psychic and ghost types to send them afar. It was probably a difference in approach. Eve was already half on her way to move from her current ride to the Noivern, helping Shaymin make the transition, by the time they teleported away. “I guess I will just go up for a bit to help you looking. Not like it makes much of a difference for what I am doing. Plus, Lapras could possibly use a break anyway.” She shrugged at the last part, as if trying to ensure that the other would not think of them going out of their way to help. It was something she just kind of did in cases like these, really.

Eve was nothing if not a people-pleaser, after all. Sadly though, that did not apparently translate into Pokemon pleaser, since whatever these two teleporting around was doing provoked quite the….reaction.
The Wailord’s emergence caused a ripple effect of Lapras yelping as it was being pushed uncomfortably upwards, Eve grasping for Noivern’s saddle out of impulse and aiming Lapras’ ball with her free hand, recalling that one while her flier took off higher, seeking to get away.

She did not immediately have time to look after the nurse, sadly, because while the Wailord was hurt, that did not mean it was harmless. In some ways, hurt Pokemon could be the most dangerous of all, so she tried to instinctively make some distance between them. While not some kind of war veteran, she had been in enough Hoenn-certified dangerous situations to develop those kinds of instincts.

Well anyway, huh? That did not sound suspicious at all. But, well, Eve did not pry. If the other did not want to share, she decidedly had reasons to do so. Or not. Really not her spot to pry. Eve just accepted that, giving the other some mental space, and instead focused on the matter at hand. A nurse looking for an injured Wailord. Which you would think would be one of the easier tasks in all of this.

Eve briefly tapped her chin, thinking, only to be a little blindsided by a question she had not quite expected. “Huh? Oh, no, I am no nurse at all. I know some basic first aid and got some Pokemon that can help. But I am, well….calling myself a singer out here kind of comes across weird, right?” Being a bit embarrassed, she instead scratched her neck, all while Shaymin leaned in a little closer towards the Lapras, by no precipitously close to falling off, but somehow still managing to stay on top of the other Pokemon’s head.
“Let’s just say that I help out with ranger business now and then due to various connections. Probably means they trust me enough to not make matters worse, so having me around is a bonus or something like that. As for your Wailord, wouldn’t it be smarter to search for it by air? You can cover more ground…well, space that way?”

Fortunately, Eve had a Lapras of her own. Yet, today she was not out on a leisurely little cruise in the sun. The weather wasn’t good enough for that, anyway. This was no swimming or bikini weather, but rather the kind for sitting at home, sipping tea, eating cake, reading a book. Anyone who went out onto the waters in weather like this did so for one thing: business. Whether that was for making money or something else they had to do, no one went out into the cold and wet without reason.

And lately, she found herself swept up in those kinds of things more often. Which, admittedly, had gotten her on the radar of the rangers and, in a roundabout way, had ended up with her acquiring the Shaymin that was riding on Lapras’ head right then. They, too, were on the lookout when another Lapras approached them.[break][break]
Eve turned towards the other, her heavy raincoat and its cowl obscuring her features enough for anyone but the most hardcore fan to recognize her at a glance. That person seemed like she was here to help as well. “A Wailord? No, we found some spheals a click or so southwest and patched them up, but nothing as big as a Wailord. Did you happen to lose one?”

Oh, right. Most people did not actually work that late. It was probably to be expected to get questions like that if you did not start before 6 in the evening. Though, admittedly, that had just been when the proper, on-site preparations had started. Her day had been going for long before that. No wonder that she was a bit out of it now, even though the effects were evidently very mild.

Such as not immediately answering the question, of course. Really, she should not keep this lady waiting. “And yes. Pretty exhausting work even. I am just taking a stroll now to wind down. Because if I just go home right away, I would just plop onto my bed and not want to get out of it for a good while. Which just makes for the worst bed hair, really.” She chuckled a bit at her own joke, almost as in hopes of making the other…accept it more? Honestly, she did not know. Somehow, she always felt a bit of a need to explain herself, even though she probably did not need to at all.[break][break]
“Speaking of, it is late to run into anyone this late to begin with. Are you being kept up by similar matters?”

Somehow, she did indeed manage to catch herself. She did not catch the hat, but fortunately Chespin, after realizing that the other person involved meant no harm, was already scampering off to collect it. And after a few moments of befuddlement, Evette started collecting herself again as well, taking a few breaths to steady her core. “No, I am…fine, I think.” She did not feel injured at least. And after a light collision like this, there really was no danger of anything worse. There had hardly been contact, after all. If nothing else, this was just a brief consequence of carelessness, but not much more. It was probably meaningless in the grand scheme of things, so she was ready to mostly brush it off.

But she just wanted to make sure the other did not think any worse of it all. “I probably am more exhausted than I thought I was is all. That sort of thing just gets overlooked when one is getting worked up all evening.” She offered a little chuckle in addition to these words, evidently ready to just let bygones be bygones.

Mayhap it was because she was of Luminose to begin with that she tended to feel more awake in these waning hours. Or maybe it was from a young age she had been trained in a profession where, if you truly did well, you tended to work nights anyway. Or maybe it was simply that on an evening like this, coming down after a performance was incredibly difficult. Even if she was, in many ways, tired after. But that was mostly her body. Her mind was still busy half basking in the afterglow, half self-critiquing any minor error she had found. It was something that she never had been able to shake, even during her break.

It had just come back in full force ever since she’d had concerts again. Like riding bicycles, you just kind of got back into the groove again. And it meant that she was back to drudging along the restless hours after the concert.[break][break]
Fresh air usually helped. That was why she was here after a quick change into some fresh clothes. Given the residual heat that never completely left a city like this in the summer, she still just sported a black skirt and white blouse combination, her Alolan Vulpix and her Chespin, walking like the proud little knight he was, walking beside her. A young maiden had to protect herself a little at night, after all. Even if she just had sunglasses and a hat for her identity. It probably was not even necessary. People were surprisingly unable to recognize someone they had just seen in full stage costume afterwards in a normal setting.

It was probably the disconnect between it all, she mused – which was enough to make her fail to notice someone else not really looking where they went. Eve did not exactly crash into the other, but the bump would still at least be enough to send her hat briefly flying – Vulpix immediately going after it as if sensing a ‘fetch’ moment, while her glasses only dislodged a little. Still, as she would find herself briefly dazed, her Chespin would most definitely try to get between the two parties, almost as if on principle.

He thought she had energy, huh? Interesting. People seemingly got that impression of her a lot. She could never quite share it unequivocally. Mostly because she only went among people when she had energy to spare, if she could help it. But hers was not a bottomless well, like some of the idols she had met during the course of her career. Those were the people that she would truly consider ‘energetic’. She was not like those. She needed the quiet, the safe, nature to recharge herself.

Only she never really showed that to others. For obvious reasons. “Which is kind of interesting, since being energetic can so easily keep you warm in winter, while in summer I feel more often like lazing about. Not when working, of course.” She added the last bit just in case. If nothing else, she was a professional. Her mother had made sure of that. But she still took her chances to rest, when she could help it. That was just as important, really.[break][break]
“And besides, I do not only chat with security, you know? Though I guess it can’t be helped if said security only feels comfortable approaching me while on the job. Guess the safety part goes both ways in that regard.” She chuckled a little, though she was, as always, remaining mercurial to an extent. She, too, could commit to something there easily and simply did not. But that partially on him, really. This was the kind of person that just begged to be teased in some way, after all.

“I can’t say I have been to that place, yet,” she replied, still trying to get her bearings after the sudden shift in locale. This simulation truly did not care too much about immersion, did it? That weird dating app had been more immersive than this, even though the sensations her senses experienced felt more real. This was a strange system in and of itself, really.

But at least any danger had passed for now and they were instead greeted by a festival of sorts. She was adjusting more easily to this than the man for certain reasons, but she also did not quite get into the simulation the way he did. Deftly, she moves a bit away from the bumpy child, leaving the man to take the brunt of that sudden collision. “Asking for someone’s mask in a place like this doesn’t seem right to me. So, if you don’t want to, you don’t have to show it to him, little one,” she decided, going against the man’s decision in that regard.

“It’s about the shrinking part, not the Violet,” she replied, sounding a bit chidingly. It was in jest, of course, but she still found the distinction important. After all, she had this kind of hair colour for a long time. Whether or not it was natural, of course, was a discussion for another time. She certainly was not going to breech that topic at all.

Instead, she focused on this small conversation, even though it was a diversion of sorts. That was the point of it, after all. “I personally would not mind a hot summer. That kind of weather agrees with me more than Hoennian winters. Or Kalosian ones, for that matter.” It was one of the reasons why she had enjoyed her time in Alola so much. And yet, she found herself more used to Hoenn by now for reasons she could not quite understand herself.[break][break]
“I have been to the summer festival last year and performed there. Was more of an impromptu little event, though. I prefer being a little incognito at least when it comes to those.” She chuckled a little, whilst pointedly nodding towards him. “Less of a hassle, really. Though it does mean not needing any security, of course.”

“Oh please, you make it sound like I am a shrinking violet at heart or something like that,” she replied, accepting the ribbing but responding in kind as she did. That man had seen her in a reasonably vulnerable state, yes. And he was referring to that in a somewhat unflattering way. But she did not exactly hate him for that. Heck, if she had any concerns regarding him, she would have made sure that he wouldn’t be working anywhere near her at all.

Not in a malicious manner, of course. The kind where someone would be blacklisted completely. She would never do that over something trivial. But she would have expressed preferences, which for someone like her, was more than enough to get her way.
Yet, she had not minded one way or another and just left it to chance. Hence, they were both in the same place at the same time again. Only this time, her spirits were higher to begin with. “As for energy, I got enough of that. Not enough to work in an advertising for an energy drink in here, but well enough. Rehearsals have been going quite well. Plus, the weather is so nice in this place at this time of year, just a few minutes outside were enough to recharge, really.”

“Heh. I would not suggest something I wouldn’t want to do, now would I~?” That would have been silly. Eve was not the kind of woman that would suggest something in the hopes that she would be politely declined or something. That kind of teasing was not exactly her style. She did not always find the correct words to do so, but she tried to communicate clearly. Part of being a singer was that, after all. It was not just a performing art, but also an attempt to make others understand.

She wasn’t one of those who only considered the business as a web of lies. She’d rather crash and burn into mediocrity than live a lie, no matter how beautiful said lie might be. And speaking of: “Though, so far we are only talking hypotheticals on both ends. That is rather tiring, isn’t it? Let’s just be up front, do you want me to sing and if so, do you have any wishes as to what?”

While the trainer was being forward, the Pokemon was going backwards. Well, it turned and ran, but that ultimately was meant to create some distance – even though it decidedly just tried to run in circles around the others, as if to make sure no one had to worry about anything happening there.
