The SCREAM TAIL is disturbing the local wildlife, that much is clear. Deciding they could not proceed without silencing this menace, the royal spawns a LIGHTNING BOLT and casts it.[break][break]

Ugh. Why did it have to be a horrible noise of all things? And right away? That was already annoying. The last simulation she had been in had had volcanoes and the like, but at least built up to that. But this? Just random scream, right away.

She usually was not one to get agitated quickly, but horrible noises did offend her on a fundamental level. Plus, her sense of hearing was a bit more finely tuned than most due to her occupation, so this felt like it was going right at her. Eve immediately put her hands on her ears and tried to isolate the source of the noise. It was not the Pokemon ushing away around her, but rather what looked like an aberrant Jigglypuff in the distance. However, before she could do much – and she preferred to keep her hands on her ears – her companion already decided to stop it. A decision she whole-heartedly agreed with.

The bolt strikes, and the Scream Tail is shocked to a crisp before their very eyes. It collapses into the pond in front of it with a splash afterward. There it floats (nose up, thankfully) as a great silence spreads across the jungle.[break][break]

"That was utterly irritating..." Remiel lightly groans, turning to his partner for this experiment afterward with a strained smile. The ringing in his ears hadn't quite left yet. "My name is Remiel Calicfet. Nice to meet you." He says, extending a handshake.[break][break]

Unfortunately, there isn't much time to talk beyond introductions. What the archaeologist initially believes to be a lunar eclipse is something quite different: a giant book descending upon them. "The... SCARLET BOOK?" Remiel surmises out loud, seemingly unperturbed by this sight.[break][break]

Ah, well, at least she had a name now. Hence, she carefully accepted the handshake, being more on the delicate than the firm side with that for the time being. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Calicfet. I am Evette Moreau,” she replied, believing that a proper introduction was in order first and foremost. That was what she had been taught from the youngest age, after all.

However, the time for introductions was cut short by the arrival of…a book? Well, at least that was what it looked like from below. And no, not a book-shaped Pokemon, judging by its appearances. She was not yet ready to rule that out just yet. “Is this Scarlet Book something I should know about? I fear I am fairly new to these simulations in general….” That hopefully would allow him to open up some explanations as to what was happening. Because she could not fully connect the Jigglypuff of sorts in the jungle with floating red books of unusual size, frankly.

"The SCARLET BOOK is what the LEAGUE is using in place of a SEAL STONE to access the RKS SIMULATION." Remiel informs Evette. "Think of it as something like a pool of data we're drawing information out of. Then again, I suppose all books are." As an archaeologist, he knew that well enough.[break][break]

Before they can hope to discuss anything else, however, the book swallows them whole and they soon find themselves in another simulation: an ancient battlefield in GALAR. Remiel frowns at the sight of DYNAMAXED Pokémon running rampant. Then scowls at the sight of ETERNATUS in the clouds above. "Curses upon my land..."[break][break]

The earth trembles beneath their feet— a nearby EARTHQUAKE. This snaps the crown prince out of his glaring and prompts him to acknowledge the two relics set before them. "We might need to defend ourselves. Shall we select the SHIELD?" He suggests, stepping forward to prop a foot on the stone before placing a hand on one end of the aforementioned relic. "We can pull it out together."[break][break]

Ah. So that was how it worked, in particular. “Ah, I see. I have just been referred to this by one of the higher-up rangers to test it out, but I have not gotten much information about how it all works.” That person was probably still trying to recruit her, in a way. It was not working so far, but she could not fault the man for trying. It was endearing, in a way. But she still was a singer first and did not want to officially declare for any side and become a ranger. It just was not what she wanted for the future.

But that was really not important. Especially not when they were transported yet again, this time to a more war-torn area. She had not exactly seen many Dynamax Pokemon before, she eyed them curiously at first, instead of sneering at them like he did. It was somewhat easy to see that they were dangerous, though. This was a simulation, so the danger was not real – but she still did not want to lose. Hence, Evette briefly mulled things over before giving a gentle nod and reaching for the shield again. “On three, then?”

They manage to pull the SHIELD free from the stone with one firm yank. As a result, however, the stone itself fragments into pieces before splitting apart, revealing the ZAMAZENTA that was once in slumber within it. It regards them both with a look and then bows its head.[break][break]

"ZAMAZENTA humbly asks for the shield we've pulled out," Remiel remarks, shifting his gaze onto Evette. "We should hand it over. If the legends are true, it will assume its regal form." He'd grown up with these legends. His father used to read them to him when he'd been a child.[break][break]

Remiel couldn't have imagined that, someday— even if only in a simulation— he would participate in those legends. However, as soon as they hand the shield over and watch ZAMAZENTA transform, the crown prince is instilled with a great sense of determination. Together they face off against ETERNATUS, with an ARCHALUDON shielding the fleeing citizenry with a LIGHT SCREEN.[break][break]

"Take cover behind ZAMAZENTA!" The royal warns Evette as ETERNATUS aims a beam at them.[break][break]

Okay. All of this was a bit much all at once. Probably because those were not exactly Kalosian legends. Apparently, this man knew them quite well, but to her, this was all kind of new. She could have read up on things more before going in here, but she figured that it would be best to go in blind. After all, one could learn best when one had an open mind.

Though maybe knowing nothing was a bit too open in that regard. All she could do for now was to nod and give the other the shield, following his lead. “I guess you know these Pokemon a bit better than me. I will just follow what you lay down.” That was not difficult, after all. Following instructions, singing notes supplied to others, that was always much easier than coming up with her own melodies. Eve sighed slightly at where her mind was going there, but soon decided to first focus on what was in front of her for the time being, taking cover with the stranger.

A flash of light and the world around them suddenly disappears. However, they enter what seems to be a blank white void for a moment before another world takes its place. The smell of delicious festival food enters their nostrils first, followed by the gradually increasing din of laughter and conversation. Then, in a moment of utter beauty, a cascade of colorful masks, ribbons, and architecture suddenly surrounds them.[break][break]

"This looks like KITAKAMI..." Remiel remarks in awe, gazing around with an astonished look in his eye. However, when what appears to be a child bumps into him and Evette, the royal snaps out of his wonder and gazes down. "Oh, hello there..." Though his apologetic expression soon shifts into one of suspicion when something doesn't seem right.[break][break]

Crouching down to reach eye-level with this 'child', he narrows his eyes. "Mind if we see your mask, little one?"[break][break]
