FERNANDO WILL THRASH HIS SIBLINGS WITHOUT REMORSE. They are nothing more than litter picked off the street. Children less fortunate than most, refashioned to prove that nurture usurps nature. But no matter how ill he thinks of his siblings, they are still his to disparage. For someone else, something unproven to be worthy of such privilege, means he’s the one to rectify their mistake.

“Because they aren’t real Silphs,” he sneers, audible only between them as the crowd grows louder with jeers to start the match.

“I came into the tournament expecting to throw most of my matches. Consider yourself fortunate enough to face a real Silph, trainer.”

MISTY TERRAIN seeps from his very being. His pores sweat not water but pink condescension that sweeps his side of the field. When it grows thick enough to be opaque, the silhouette of his deity surfaces, slowly taking form as it exits the mist.

“Battle routine set!”

Tapu Fini enters the battlefield. Its shell pries open to reveal the mermaid saint inside. Its MISTY SURGE expels an even greater spread than Fernando’s. It carpets the sand between them until the entire area is covered in its influence.

THE LITTLE WEASEL DARES CONCEAL ITSELF IN THEIR DOMAIN? Tapu Fini still has a visual on it but Fernando can’t discern the small creature from his field of vision. Assuming Tapu Fini might not be able to either, he smirks, commandeering the battle with an order pointed directly at the crowd.

“Flush them out! Show them your MADNESS!”

Hiding means nothing if they raze the battlefield in its entirety.

The island deity trains its finger toward the Meinshao. When its eyes snap open, pink sparks flicker against its shell, a dark light bulb fueled with too much electricity all at once. NATURE’S MADNESS surges forward at the Pokemon’s behest. But it lacks the same singularity of a THUNDERBOLT or even THUNDER. As long as the MISTY TERRAIN remains so will the fairy attack engorge itself on the terrain, making leaps and bounds as the attack courses through the very veil the Meinshao sought solace in.

A SUITABLE TACTIC WORTH MERIT. However, Fernando is not here to commend his challenger. Villetta is an exception; she set the target on her back the moment she came into this match with the arrogance of a supposed Silph conqueror.

More than just a trivial win sits on this match; the pride of his surname now rests on his shoulders. While Fernando puts little value in familial ties or the legality that binds them, for someone to make an association between him and those filth is demeaning beyond comprehension.

A volley of lifeforce seeking orbs pelt his side of the field. They poke holes in their MISTY TERRAIN, each one homing in on the Tapu Fini’s location. They explode on impact, kicking up further smoke and dust.

Neon green glimmers from the behind the fumes. A tell tale sign of PROTECT. Not much else can be seen until the vapor is blown away by a sudden BLIZZARD. Frigid air billows from the Tapu Fini’s shell, seemingly endless from a void beyond.

HE REMAINS SILENT. His answer comes in the form of actions, not words. And while Fernando seldom takes order from others, her wants happen to coincide with his will. They flow intertwined, destined to carry out the conclusion of this match.

The Meinshao streaks an AURA SPHERE that finds purchase against the expanse of Tapu Fini’s shell. Battered scratches stain the clear midnight of its shell. But the Pokemon within doesn’t flinch. Even whe nthe Meinshao lands an abrupt DRAIN PUNCH straight to its main body. It’s agility makes it hard to avoid but the Tapu Fini doesn’t even attempt.

It simple stares at the Meinshao, taking the brunt of the punch without reaction. It is nothing more than an immobile shell for the patron behind it. It stands in an ocean of MISTY TERRAIN like weathered rock, a testament of time until it erodes under the waves.

MISTY TERRAIN swirls into a vortex of fairy energy. What rises from its depths is a terrible beast given shape by humanity’s temperance. Christened in the purple skin Tapu Fini is traditionally depicted in, the beast pulls back its hand before slamming it down in front of Tapu Fini.



A tsunami worth of NATURE’S MADNESS engulfs the field. Sharp winds cut with supernatural energy, their speeds batter those who dare stand against it. The element bend to its will, unearthing a primal fury that is only recorded in fairytales.

“TCH.”

Fernando’s judgement sits somewhere between pleased and disapproval. On one hand, anyone able to still stand on their feet after Tapu Fini’s finisher deserves praise. However, the circumstance behind their challenger leaves much to be desired. That is grounds for his outward scorn as his scowl demands justice.

“Eliminate it.”

Conflicting justifications pool in his head as Fernando realizes the emotional basis of his discerns. He plays into it though, too unruly to care. Logic can come later. After a thorough trouncing.

The AURA SPHERE lands. It strikes true because the Tapu Fini doesn’t care. It has no issues with taking on an ounce of pain to deliver a gallon of punishment. A sudden deluge of bottled sea water surfaces from the Legendary’s shell. It sweeps the field in a high rise wave, looking to catch the Meinshao by any means necessary.

“HMPH.”

It takes a lot to dispel Fernando’s built up haughtiness. Fingers wrap around her palm and squeeze with a grip firm enough to convey his distaste. It lingers for a bit too long before she softens it with a compliment.

“Indeed.”

It breaks the tension when he reclines back into his personal bubble. His tongue runs against the back of his teeth as he debates her performance. For her Meinshao to stand up even after being pelted by Tapu Fini’s Z-move is praise worthy. Only his ego keeps him from acknowledging her merits.

Eventually, business comes before pleasure. Fernando presents the SILPH BADGE between his fingers, slipping it into her hands.

“Then feel free to stop by with an appointment.”

noah faber’s name kills his ire in a heartbeat. He has no attachment to the Verdanturf brawler but having an association with a Gym Leader isn’t something he can ignore.

“Oh? That explains a lot.”

“APPOINTMENTS ARE HANDLED ONLINE OR THROUGH TELEPHONE.”

His voices tapers down as he kills the personality in his voice. It comes out monotone, draped in the dreary reality of his business centric lifestyle. He lives and breaths it.

“They know my availability better than I do.”

He keeps his tongue on the subsequent part. Fernando and his fondness for riddles is are iconic as his lack of disposition. He leaves things up to other’s interpretation as both a probe and an insight onto their character.

“Orre?”

It’s a region he’s never heard of. Much less visited.

“Well, perhaps you can imprint some of those skills into Hoenn. I look forward to it.”
