Melody actually got into contact with John again after his challenge! She wanted to have a battle with him as her PRIDE WAS ON THE LINE! She had to give the public what they wanted too right? Her battle with him was her most popular one to date based on viewers alone so Melody was eager for a rematch! She texted him to meet her on the Slateport beach for a challenge! A 1 vs 1 no holds barred! [break][break]

She arrived on the sandy beach with her jean booty shorts and tied up white oversized white top and her hair colored blue today as Smeargle and her Herdier stood besides her. Once she saw john approach she'd rush up to him and give him a big ol squeeze "Hey man! How's the tournament going for you so far?!" she'd ask excitedly

Doug caught her as she gave him a squeeze, pulling her off the floor in a big hug before placing her back in the sand.

"Melody!" He said with a laugh, catching her in a big hug as she squeezed at him, pulling her off the floor for a moment. "Look at'cha, looking great n' makin' us'all look bad!"

For once, Doug's trademark looked appropriate for the setting, his hat's brim swaying gently in warm summer breeze alongside his unbuttoned alolan-print shirt and knee-length cut off jeans.

"S'all good, s'all good! The food 'round here's been amazing- the battles ain't been too shabby, either!" He said, thumbing his nose as he crossed his arms over his chest, partially hiding an unexpected, massive scar.

He was actually taking the tournament a bit more try-hardily than his Gym leader compatriots, but he didn't need to bring down the mood by getting into the nitty gritty of his wins and losses.

"How'bout'cha? Been havin' fun? I've been hearin' yer name makin' the rounds while eatin' up! Yer battle schedule lookin' busy, huh?" He said with a grin, well aware of who was up next.

"it's my job, duh!" she said laughing at him a bit as she was obviously joking, she was glad he returned the hug as many people in hoenn were so against physical contact that it was strange to her "You're looking quite dapper yourself!" she tells him as she extended a compliment back to him. [break][break]

When he mentions that she's been working a lot lately she nods "Yep, I've been battling like nonstop everyday, I'm trying to do my best and not let down dahlia goode or any of my fans." she says as she punched the air above her, she was tired but nothing like a quick battle couldn't fix! She walked over to her side of the arena "So are you ready? I have a feeling you have a special treat for me and I you." she grinned as her herdier ran out onto the battle field running around in circles barking at absolutely nothing. "You get to fight the bestest of boys today, my personal doggy maksim!" she told him as the dog looked like a total idiot on the field at the moment.

Friendly Playdate Match

The youth took his hat off and bowed at her in an exaggerated fashion at the praise, winking.

"I know, but it's nice to hear." He said with a cheeky grin, before spinning his hat around to show... some sort of mercury like substance attached to the roof of it.

He didn't quite explain what it was immediately, humming at her words as he nodded.

"Same, same. Got my butt whooped by my own student earlier this week, so I've been trying to make up for that misstep." He said with a laugh, before grinning down at her cute little Herdier, running around the arena gleefully. "He's a cutie; Caesar would love to play with'im."

Taking his place on the other side of the arena, Doug winked at Melody once more, before throwing his hat high in the air.

"A special treat deserves another. Let's turn this into a play date, shall we?" He said before swinging his arm skyward dramatically. "Get in there, Slime!"

The mercury on the hat, suddenly lurched forth, pushing the hat further out into the sky as it flowed down onto the arena, splatting messily onto the floor before quickly coming together to form a dense mass of flowing steel, waving its stubby arms at Melody as a single, large golden Nut came out of it, solidifying to become its head.

"This little guy's a souvenir of my last excursion. Name's Slime!" Doug said with a chuckle, crossing his arms over his chest. "He ain't super strong, but he's pretty versatile! Young, too. Think he and Maksim'll get along just fine!"

Hah, john was certainly a character and Melody appreciated it since he seemed to kind of be like her in a lot of ways. [break][break]

She tilted her head at slime, she never seen it before or even heard of it and when she tried to scan it with her pokedex it didn't really work for whatever reason. Huh, maybe it needed to update? Oh well! The unknown was exciting! New exclusive experiences and all that jazz! [break][break]

"Is that so? Then without further ado! Maksim!! GO!" she shouts as Maksim didn't really need commands from melody. She knew him so well she knew EXACTLY what he'd do as he got the chance to go nuts wild. Maksim suddenly stared down Meltan and barked at it incessantly, it's intimidate ability activating as Herdier tried to scare the little ball of slime. However it's barking was also doing something else, it seemed like Herdier fired off a hyper voice with it's incessant yapping and while everyone around him cringed Melody was totally unaffected by it was she was totally used to his barking.

The response was as immediate as it was lethal.

The little slime screeched in terror promptly before practically melting into a puddle, its mercury-like body surrounding its head and turning into a seeming ball of metal.

A trembling ball of metal. The hyper voice thrummed through it, making it bounce along with pebbles on the earth, but it didn't seem to have much effect.

"Uh. He's... shy." Doug said after a moment, scratching at his cheek.

The sound of his voice prompted the little ball to slowly begin rolling towards Doug, wobbling to and fro as it blindly followed his voice.

"Oh jeez." The youth said as he gripped the bridge of his nose. "... So!"

He suddenly clapped his hands, grinning at Melody.

"Did'cha see Mr. Silph's remixed bet, Melody?" He said with a waggle of the brow, hoping to distract his fellow gym leader while Slime got his shit together.

-Slime used Acid Armor.

Melody was immediately distracted by the last part of john's statement. A shiver went down her spine "N-NO I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT AT ALL. NOPE. NADA." she said immediately waving it off and looking away. However she wasn't really ordering her herdier in the first place! Maksim saw that Meltan turned into a ball and ran over to him, trying to use play rough as he really wanted to play with the sudden appearance of the shiny metal ball. [break][break]

And rough they played indeed! Suddenly a dog toy, the little Slime squealed as it was... smacked and chewed on, presumably.

"What, reaaally?" Doug said teasingly as he leaned forward, momentarily forgetting about his original goal as he grinned cheekily. "Well then, let me tell ya all about it! It involves an electric shaver~."

Smacked about thoroughly, the little slime ball trembled slightly as it was smacked once again. Too much... Too much! There was a limit even to Slime's temper!

Crackling furiously, a Thunder Wave suddenly burst out from ball as the doggo continued to play with it, trying to give the pup a lesson.

Melody continued to shut her ears "LALALALALALA" over him even MENTIONING cutting her hair. [break][break]

The people watching this battle just kinda of stared confused, was this an actual battle? Two friends talking? A pokemon playdate?[break][break]

Well it seems like Meltan didn't forget the purpose of john and him visiting and a nasty shockwave was sent at herdier which was pretty effective in keeping the pokemon at bay. Herdier was now suffering from paralysis and his yelp was what brought Melody back into reality "Oh crap!" she shouts "Maksim back up!" she orders as herdier tries to leap backwards but cant really move letting her know about the paraylsis "You dirty sneak! I bet you distracted me on purpose!" she says pouting and putting her hands on her hips. [break][break]

"Well how about this then! Take that electricity and do some zoomies maksim!" she orders as maksim takes that electricity stunning his muscles and coats his body with it as he charges into meltan.

"Come on, give yerself some credit. Ya did most of the work here!" He said as he began to ape her, singing out 'lalala' at the top of his lungs.

Slime screeched as in horror when the dog not only did not remain paralyzed, but charged at it instead, the liquid like pokemon, reeling far back as the doggo slammed into it.

Its little torso stretched far back, its nut-like head reaching far-

Before it snapped back into shape like a spring, bringing its metallic, golden nut like head crashing onto the doggo's muzzle with a BONK.

The charge was successful! For only a moments notice as all the electricity coursing through Herdier's body made it convulse for a moment. "Oh crap." she said out loud as Meltan took the opportunity to launch itself like a comedic slingshot onto Herdier's face and used Headbutt. [break][break]

Melody winced as she witnessed the attack head on "Ouch...that looked like it hurt." she comments to herself as her attention shifts back onto John. "I so did not!" [break][break]

"Herdier! Baby doll eyes!" she orders as Herdier takes advantage of the fact he was recently injured and gave Meltan some baby eyes and a few fake tears sprinkled here n there to make Meltan feel bad and try to weaken it's power and make it FEEL BAD.

The Meltan rubbed its noggin' following the rough, face-to-face collision with the puppy, feeling a little sick. It's temper was getting shorter by the minute, but the moment it turned towards the dog to let it have it-

It deflated instantly, the poor puppy's sad little eyes almost making the little metal slime coo- as well as feel horrible.

"Aw, poor little thing..." Gasped Doug, grasping his chest. He then snorted. "Let's give it a real reason to cry, Slime! Thundershock!"

The youth ordered- to which Slime merely wiggled about in depression, feeling bad for hurting the puppy.

"Really?!" Doug groaned, palming his face.

-Slime felt bad.

The baby doll eyes worked? Or not? Electricity cause Herdier to convulse slightly, unable to let the move be fully used but it seemed like that sight was enough to cause Meltan not to do anything. Nice! Melody gave an order and hoped it would work "Ah he feels bad, give him a play rough Maks! Lets see if he wants to play!" as Herdier attempts to ran up to meltan but Melody hoped the paralyze wouldn't stop it.

Slime tilted its head as the poor puppy shook in front of it, as if struggling with something. So saddening...! The little pile of metallic goo attempted to reach over and console the poor puppy, wanting to pet it-

And then the doggo launched at him, drawing a screech out of his nonexistent maw as he began to paw and roll him around like a toy.

"Do you see now, Slime?" Thundered his trainer ominously from his side of the field, crossing his arms. "The enemy fooled you completely. You've been had, you soft-hearted fool!"

Lies, deception, betrayal!

Slime realized his folly as he was battered around, and his fury returned thrice fold.

How dare they... How dare theeeey!

"Gwwweeeee!" Screeched Slime angrily as his bolt head spun about wildly, static electricity building up sharply before it exploded outwards as shocks of thunder!

-Slime took damage from Play Rough!
-Slime is angery! BETRAYAL!
-Slime used thunder shock!
