Mason couldn’t say anything. It was like as if his body was petrified and an impending doom was upon him, especially when the older man brought out his Dragonite.

     But that was not until Amor told the boy the same advice he had given when they first met and battled the Beeheeyems. Mason closed his eyes and clenched his jaws and fist. He then took a deep breath in. ‘Acting is better than not,’ Mason repeated to himself. His body was no longer shaking, and flames flickered in his eyes. 

     He got the first move, and he’ll act on it. Mason knew that Dragonite is a Dragon type and a Flying type, none of his Larvesta’s move was effective against the Pokemon. But he must not give up there.

     ”Vesty, String Shot!”, threads-like silks were released from the Larvesta’s mouth and flew across the field towards where the Dragonite was standing.

    ‘A follow up,’ an idea flashed in his mind as Amor said that. It sounded crazy to him, but considering the situation that he was in... it should be worth the try. 

     The boy and his clothes were already soaked from the pouring rain. He noticed that Amor was idly standing, perhaps the man just wanted to see how he would overcome this? To think about it, the Dragonite could have probably ended the battle with just a single move. He needed to flip the table and make things favourable to him.

     ”Vesty do you trust me?!” he shouted through the rain. Vesty’s horns ignited, showing that he would go through anything with his trainer. ”Alright, Bug Buzz!” the Larvesta screeched and released red waves that pains the head of the listener. ”Now use Flame Charge around the field to speed up!”, Vesty’s body were engulfed with red flickering flames, a torch amidst the rain, he then began to run around the field as instructed by his trainer.

     ”Now simultaneously use String Shot!” Mason had never asked any of his Pokemon to use two moves simultaneously. He was scared that it would be too much, hence why the idea was crazy, but Vesty managed to do it! As the living torch ran around the field, it spits out silky threads towards the dragon.

    Everything happened so fast. The Dragonite flew up high, its knuckles charged with electricity and it moved so fast Mason almost could’t see it! Adrenaline kicked in, he shouted at the top of his lungs. ”AIM LOW AND FOLLOW UP WITH BUG BITE!”.

     The Larvesta was already in a Flame Charge state, even if Vesty hits Draco the power of the attack would severely be lowered, but it might be the only way for the small torch to avoid the cackling punch.

tldr; Vesty tries to avoid the punch by aiming at the underbelly of Draco with its ongoing Flame Charge, if it hits it will follow up with a Bug Bite

    The battle grew even more intense. Mason knew that the Hurricane would end the battle immediately, but Mason was not going to give up yet, neither did Vesty. 

     ”String Shot yourself!” Mason cried, he had done this technique before in the tournament. The Larvesta enveloped itself inside a cocoon of its own threads. Though it won’t be enough to withstand the full force of the roaring winds. 

     The white cocoon was picked by the Hurricane, its winds slowly shredded the silky threads away before damaging the Larvesta a little. ”Balance with Ember!”, it was all that Mason could think of to reduce the overall damage that could have been done by the storm. The Larvesta lit five of its horns on fire, attempting to balance itself in the air to reduce the chance of getting confused.

     Mason felt like he was hanging by the thread. Unknowingly, his fists were clenched and teeth gritted. Eyes were sharp as hawk, assessing the situation and his mind was on wild fire.

tldr; Larvesta used String Shot on itself to reduce the damage done by Hurricane. The Hurricane shred the String Shot away and still managed to damage the Larvesta. Larvesta then used Ember with five of its horns to remain balanced up high in the air.

The boy was resourceful if nothing else, and it made Amor sorta proud, like he was watching a little brother slowly succeed, and get better right in front of his eyes. Having no other siblings this was a new feeling for Amor, but it was one that enjoyed regardless. A gentle smile played at his lips as the little Larvesta, now airborne due to the Hurricane, and having been battered, was unfortunately now out of it's element. The sky is where Draco reigned supreme, and it didn't matter how much ingenuity you used when you couldn't fly freely like his dragon. This part would likely be the finishing blow, unless Mason had another trick up his sleeve, but he had been surprising Amor this entire battle so maybe he did. Draco flew straight up, right above the little Larvesta.

His fist igniting with electricity once again, and he flew straight down using Extreme Speed to close the distance, and he attempted to slam his Thunder Punch into the bug pokemon. Was it brutal? Could they have both held back more, and taught him a different way? Yes. But defeat, a true crushing defeat was necessary to give someone something to aspire to. You could wander around aimlessly searching for the thing people called strength, and never attain it as you had no clear vision. Vision was necessary for strength, Amor wanted Mason to have that vision to be the best that he could be. To train harder to overcome an obstacle, that seemed insurmountable.

Amor would gladly become that obstacle for him, he didn't understand the sentiment entirely on why he was so drawn to helping out this lone boy. Maybe because he had those eyes so filled with ambition, a purity which hadn't been shattered by the horrors of the world yet. Maybe it was because Amor saw a version of himself in this boy, that hadn't been tainted, a little shred of light that he wanted to protect. Whatever the case, Amor would teach this boy whenever they met, and hopefully help him grow more.

Battle Breakdown: With Larvesta in the air now, Draco used Extreme Speed to head straight down, in combination with Thunder Punch to send him crashing back down to the ground.

    No. Mason refused to give up just yet. It all seemed futile, but the boy and the Larvesta shared a blazing passion deep inside their hearts. They won’t lose without giving their all.

     ”Flare Blitz!”.

     Crimson flames engulfed the Larvesta’s body before it shoots itself like a missile at the charging Dragonite. As it flew, the raging flames turned an incandescent blue.

"Ah so this is how he wants to do it? Fair enough... Amor mused to himself in his head as Mason ordered a Flare Blitz attack no doubt seeing a chance to get in a good hit despite their current situation. With the raging ball of fire heading straight upwards, and Draco heading downwards to the tune of crackling electricity, he smashed his fist forward against the Larvesta. They wanted a contest of power, and thus they would have one.

    The torch of bluish flames met the cackling fist of thunder. Neither sides wanted to give in, especially the Larvesta, who was far weaker compared to the Dragonite. 

     Then it happened, Vesty’s flames were intense enough to overpower the Thunder Punch. In fact it was so intense, that it hurts itself in the process as well. 

     The bug-type Pokemon fell to the ground. ”Vesty!” his trainer’s voice was filled with worry. It was enough for him to attempt standing back up on his six legs, though he struggled greatly. It was obvious to anyone that the Larvesta was reaching his limit before fainting.
