Kanoa was born and raised in the Alolan Region, hailing from Hau'oli City where she spent much of her time growing up relatively comfortable, with loving and supportive parents who watched over her well, opening her mind to traditions as well as keeping up with the modern age. While her mother was a chef, her father was a fisherman who spent most of his downtime training his favorite pokemon, Haoa; an Arcanine that he had been training when he was a teenager. Like many of the youth of Alola, Kanoa had a lust for adventure and wanted to see more than the islands she knew well. There were some conditions set by her family though, and that was to find some stable footing, and to bring along some friends from home. Kanoa agreed, and eventually found her calling as a Ranger cadet of Hoenn, and along the way meeting the rest of her friends and partners: Nalani, her Rowlett, Aukai, her Tirtouga, and finally Kahale, her Rockruff; a parting gift from her parents.[break][break]

Kanoa loves to skate and takes her fancy "switchboard" wherever she goes. This switchboard is a bit of a marvel of modern tech that's heavier than the average board, but that's because it can swap between both a regular skateboard and a longboard, allowing her to take it on all kinds of different terrain, not just in the streets!

Kanoa is a big fan of seafood and is a bit of a picky eater when it comes to her favorite cuisine, as her mother was a chef who specialized in making some of the most delicious fish that her father brought home from his fresh catches.
