Hoenn was certainly a surprising place, filled to the brim with people and places that she hadn’t thought would be there, with a surprising number of people from all around the world that seemed to call this place their home. It wasn’t too different to Alola, with her time there being spent with a wide variety of people, some having been born and raised there while others had moved from other regions for whatever reason. But Hoenn seemed to be a bit different in that aspect, it seemed like it was a mashup of all the regions around the world, with many people having come here and made their own little mark. It was easy for Kanoa to spot the Alolan influences, whether it be the food stalls or the regional pokemon that were present here, there was a lot that reminded her of home, which made it so hard to feel like she had truly left.

The young ranger sat on the edge of the boardwalk with the waves from Slateport Beach lightly brushing up against her bare feet as Nalani had been comfortably resting in her lap and Kahale made himself comfortable in her lap. The beaming rays of the sun had been nostalgic, and she could almost hear the sounds of her father calling out to her from his rickety old fishing boat. "Do you think it was a mistake to come here you guys..? Maybe we should have waited a few more years? Spent more time at home?" Kanoa would gaze up at her rowlet and down at her rockruff, the two tilting their heads at her. "Right... I'm probably just being silly."

[attr="class","hanatext"]No matter where she travels, it seems that she'll always be drawn back to the seas that set her free. It's the third time Lilith's come to Slateport Beach, the rhythm of the waves and the chilling breeze never failing to elicit a smile where most fail. Everything about this location is serene, quiet enough for her to hear her thoughts yet still lively enough to keep Hex entertained.

With a cursory glance in the Mimikyu's direction, Lilith notices how he's seemingly entranced by something, a shadowy claw aimlessly sweeping through the sand as his hollow gaze peers off into the distance. Following his line of sight, she soon catches onto the same sight he does, a soft pang sparking in her chest as she recalls the name upon the tip of her tongue.

11 years since she left home. 11 years since she's went missing and become a runaway.

And 11 years all lead back to one memory.

"Kanoa... It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Kanoa stared out at the sea, not even aware that Kahale had already turned his head toward the stranger that approached his trainer, his paws slowly shifting around as he tried to get into an aggressive stance while still in the ranger’s lap. Meanwhile Nalani simply fluttered lightly in confusion, trying to get the girl’s attention as she absentmindedly stared off into the distance. That was the case, at least until she had heard a voice she hadn’t heard in a very long time, one that she almost didn’t remember: “Lil…?” The girl’s eyes widened as her head nearly snapped to look at the childhood friend she remembered, that she had considered lost or… worse. The girl seemed to jump to her feet, the Rockruff nearly falling out of her lap before clumsily landing on the sand and the Rowlet fluttering in confusion before stablizing herself.

Kanoa moved quickly and wrapped her arms around Lilith, pulling her in for a tight hug. It would be a few moments of silence, her mind kind of grappling with the fact that she was here, and well at that. “Where the hell have ya been?!? Don’t give me that `it’s been a while` shit! You should know well how much ya had everybody worried! They had rangers lookin’ everywhere for ya n’ even dad went around the islands! How long have ya been here?!?” She shook her head, the worried expression changing to a more relieved smile. “What am I saying… I’m just happy to see you’re doin’ well. The hell have ya been up to all this time..?”

She stiffens up from the contact, as she has done all these years. Despite her age, Lilith still hasn't quite grown fond of the idea of touch, even around people who she supposes she could call friends. Perhaps, that can be attributed to the mistrust sown deep into her heart... She isn't one to analyse herself where possible lest she find herself trapped in a downwards spiral.

"I've... been away from home?" Technically not a lie, but not the entire truth either. It stands to reason that Kanoa doesn't know and it's probably better that she doesn't get herself involved in such a mess. "I only got here a few months ago... Been travelling through the regions... Getting to see the world... Meet all kinds of people..."

She pauses for a moment, her eyes drifting to the Mimikyu as he begins to shake erratically. And before he can tear into the strangers present, she's pulling away from Kanoa to pick him up, patting his head to calm his nerves.

"When did you arrive here? Or moreso, why are you here...?"
