MARCH UPDATE

Once again, a battle on the beach. A tussle in the hot sun. Another hour of camping out around the cooler. Downing branded sports drinks. Producing so much clear piss, he could start selling to juicing baseball players. He wore a button-up and slacks over boots, looking like an overgrown schoolboy.

He was met with a face that was almost familiar. Puzzling, because of that. The arena proper was finally afforded to him, after a series of non-starters. A series of false-starts and blunders. His opponent had reddish pink hair and a heart-shaped face. It made him think right away about someone he knew at work.

"...You run that gym, right? Is it busy? I was thinking about starting one, but it seems like it'd be too much work." He said, looking to the shorter woman. Planning on getting a stable city job, despite the slightest scrutiny revealing some wild shit. Giona had to grasp for his words carefully. This is a stranger! He had to feel out how weird he could be before being all cryptic like he was with King.

She countered that it was a lot of work. No days off. It seemed to be the opposite of what he currently did... That is to say, working in a hot kitchen until called upon to do some racketeering. No days off, but working too many hours could lead to being arrested. Nonetheless, he smirked.

As for music? It was more about a vague mood than genre. Metal, shoegaze, hardcore, whatever. So long as it was sad and horny it was for him. Then again, he couldn’t just say that.

"... I listen to things that are similar to Synth, but I haven’t sat down and tried it. I uh... wow. Thanks. That Mr. Silph did the same." He said, looking to the shorter woman. He whistled a series of descending notes, and Sableye opened up with Confuse Ray on Musharna. The light hit its prismatic eyes in such a way that it pointed a beam of sun, then moved its head in a figure 8 to try and make the capybara dizzy.

As the confuse ray made contact with Musharna's eyes she instantly fell susceptible to the confuse ray. "Ohhh so that's how you want to start it off then? Alrighty" she said shooting a wink as she lifted up her phone and plugged it into a speaker and placed it on the floor, hitting play as a synthwave song began to play "Musharna! Power through it! Psychic terrain Extra thick!" she commands. [break][break]

Should the roll be between 1-33 musharna will hit itself in confusion. CQk|tIXk[break][break]

The terrain leaks out from musharna's forehead and thickens and covers musharna, hiding it.[break][break]

She seemed to get really into the battle. Then, she plugged her phone in and started blaring music. Giona tapped his foot, sure. He’d seen the stage get torn up a couple times, which made it unclear if it was strong enough to begin with. He had his arms folded, with fingers bandaged, but it didn’t seem to affect his mobility.

"I get the feeling that you’d be insulted if I didn’t take it seriously." He said, looking to the shorter woman. He whistled a low note, just barely above simply exhaling, and Sableye opened up with Shadow Claw on Musharna. The little imp crouched, then lunged at the capybara, claws drawn.

The sable eye had little problem actually finding Musharna, did it have some kind of enhanced eyesight? Well it had rocks for eyes so maybe? Oh well regardless the move landed. "Musharna! Moon blast!" she ordered as she at least knew that Sableye had one weakness and that was fairy type attacks. [break][break]

"I'd be totally insulted! You got to give it your all if you even want a shot of beating me!" she responded trying to hype him up.

She got him! Right away! He wasn't expecting this thing to have Moon Blast, despite owning one. Giona would then deflect, trying to make it sound as if he wasn't totally checked out. The kind of student who'd have their eyes on the clock instead of the teacher. He had to suppress a smile, while doing his Gemini behavior.

"That's a great attitude to have. Sometimes, the people I run into are totally checked out. I'd rather have them mad at me than that." Sableye was struck, and rolled across the arena like a rock skipped across the surface of a lake. It stood up again, much more slowly. Giona thought for a second, then decided to buy more time to think.

"Okay. Use Detect."

Sableye seemed... sharper. Like it could dodge anything in this moment. More alert.

"Detect huh? Thank's for the free move!" she grinned at him with a small mischievious grin in her face "Musharna! Wonder room!" she said as Musharna opened it's eyes and created a box tile by tile that slowly enveloped the two pokemon, swapping their defenses around and creating a much more disorienting space to try and mess with sableye further.

Now Musharna was going to be able to tank sableye's physical hits a lot better, she at least knew that pokemon seemed to be a close range fighter from it's moveset so far.

She got him! Took advantage of his momentary pause to layer on a Wonder Room. To take the more prominent physical stats of Sableye. Well, he'd have to just work around this. She hadn't pressed her new advantage yet.

"Did you have to move to be closer to work, or do you just fly in and keep notifications on? I was planning on leaving Mauville anyways." Sableye paused, looking Musharna over with curiosity. It hadn't struck back yet. Normally, a larger opponent wouldn't hesitate to try to get the imp knocked out right away.

"--Thanks for the free move. Confuse Ray, again."

Sableye opened up with Confuse Ray on Musharna. The light hit its prismatic eyes in such a way that it pointed a beam of sun, then moved its head in a figure 8 to try and make the capybara dizzy.

Ugh, not cute. That stupid confuse ray again! Musharna was once again perplexed and confused as the the light coming from sableye's eyes were extremely disorienting. Time for a gamble! "Musharna energy ball! Barrage mode!" she calls out hoping that Musharna would be able to follow it's orders and not hit itself in the confusion. [break]

Luckily musharna powers through it this time, still confused but able to fire a wide spread barrage of energy balls at Sableye. "I moved, but im not so far from where I used to live so I can go and visit easily if I want to go see my family." she tells him freely as she shifted her attention back to the battle.

She got him! Took advantage of his momentary pause to swing at him! Sableye was hit by the array of Energy Balls trying to clip it. One more hit would total it at this rate.

"That's wonderful. I'm glad that you get these chances to visit them. I'm just close enough that I can hike through Rusturf tunnel and jog half a mile to see my parents." Sableye struck this time with Foul Play. It paused for a moment to build tension, leering with unblinking eyes. A sneaky move that was physical, sure, but it also accounted for changes in Musharna's physical stats. It lunged yet again.

"Interesting. I suppose I'll have to keep training, if I'm to put up a serious challenge at your gym."

Giona adjusted his necktie with both hands, loosening it slightly. He then took the pokeballs clipped to his belt and stowed them in a pants pocket.

Did he really need to keep training? He was already giving her a run for her money at this rate. Melody couldn't give him any chances to gain an edge over her or else he'd continue to widen the gap between their pokemon. She got him! Got him the one last time. Sableye folded, curling up in the fetal position on the sand. Giona had a black and red ball ready to protect it from further harm with a red beam. He sheepishly covered the top with his fingers so she wouldn't see.

"Wow. You got me. Anyways... yeah. I will be, once I'm done with my chain of emails with Rustboro's City Planning Commission." He stepped across the sand, straightening out his tie again. Giona dug his hands out of his pockets. He reached out a bandaged right hand, offering to shake her hand, now that she'd won.

"I already have people lined up to challenge it, including that John Sullivan, who runs the gym in my hometown. You can visit whenever you'd like."

Giona looked to her with something of a neutral expression. The exact pink of her hair reminded him of someone, but he was failing to put the pieces together.

Melody smiled and let out a small sigh of relief. She wont he battle! The confuse rays had her worried as she didn't really have a proper answer for it. Luck was on her side this time. She approached him as well as he came to shake hands with her as he mentioned john douglas being on his list of people who wanted to challenge his gym. "Well then put me for challenging you right after him! I'm doing the gym challenge myself at the moment to show the people of Hoenn that we don't stop growing just because we're gym leaders. Plus it's pretty interesting to see other people's takes on education lessons and stuff." she says as she shook his hand. [break][break]
